Through 12/15, Jewel is running its 25th annual Chicago Bears coat drive. You can donate winter coats in bins in-store. The coats will benefit the Salvation Army and Chicagoland public schools.

If you wear your Chicago Bears jersey or “one of the Bears shirts we sell” on any 2013 Bears football game day, Jewel will take 10% off your grocery bill! This is after all coupons, and is not valid on prescriptions, alcohol, tobacco and other usual exclusions.

This week’s game day is October 6th vs. the Saints! (GO BEARS!) Here’s the full Bears season schedule for reference. 

Jewel has a new Rachael Ray Dinnerware promotion running. You can earn a stamp for every $10 you spend in store. Save them up and cash them in for free Rachael Ray dinnerware. You can choose from dinner plates, salad plates, soup/cereal bowls and mugs. The dinnerware will hit stores on 9/4.

For every 20 stamps you collect, you can choose one free item. For every stamp saver card you fill, you can choose six free items. Or, collect 10 stamps and pay $2.99, plus your stamps, for one item.

Jewel’s coupon policy allows shoppers to apply manufacturer coupon overage to other items in the same transaction. It also allows two manufacturer coupons to be used on a Buy One Get One Free sale. However, the registers are currently programmed to adjust coupons down to match the sale price of an item, and to scan the second coupon on a B1G1F at $0.00. Corporate has stated that the cashiers are supposed to manually enter the overage and second B1G1F coupon.

Watch very closely with two coupons on a Buy One Get One Free. The second coupon will appear to scan fine, but it will show as $0.00 at the register. Be prepared to call on your cashier to manually adjust this for you immediately if they do not intervene.

 If you anticipate any issues with this, I would recommend carrying a copy of Jewel’s coupon policy, which outlines both of these issues clearly.

You do not need to use your Preferred Card to receive sale prices anymore. But if you want to use SavingStar ecoupons and Jewel’s own ecoupons, continue to use your card.  Don’t discard it if you have Fuel Rewards on the card, or if you intend to continue using ecoupons at Jewel! SavingStar has confirmed they will still continue their offers at Jewel. We have also noticed that you get many more Catalina coupons (the per-product kind that are for specific items, like “.75 off Prego pasta sauce”) when you use your Jewel card, as your purchase history is tied to it.

The “Big Book of Savings” Jewel-Osco monthly ad both have a coupon for a $25 Jewel-Osco gift card with a new or transferred prescription, and a $75 Jewel-Osco gift card with 5 more refills. The coupons expire 12/28/13, so KEEP some if you will need them down the line. They have been putting these in the ads off and on, but better to have some when you need them.

There is a second ad new for 10/2, and it’s called the “Big Book of Savings.” So as not to confuse it with previous month’s books, let’s call this one the “Pumpkin” book as it has a bunch of pumpkins on the cover. It’s filled with sales and coupons that run through October 29, 2013. I am only blogging the best deals from this book (as with any ad.)

14.5-15oz. Libby’s canned vegetables are .79 each. Buy four and use the $1-off-4 from the 8/25 RP (exp. 10/12!) to drop the price of each can to .54.

Twin packs of YoCrunch Zone Perfect yogurt (ad shows chocolate peanut butter and dark chocolate) are on sale for $2. Use the .75 coupon from the 9/8 SS1 and pay $1.25.
