Jewel-Osco Grocery Deals

From May 23rd thru May 29th, all military personnel with valid identification will receive a 10 percent discount on their groceries at all Jewel-Osco locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa.

“Our United States military personnel deserve special thanks for all they’ve done,” said William Emmons, President of Jewel-Osco. “Everyone at Jewel-Osco recognizes how they’ve worked and what they’ve sacrificed for us, and offering a special military discount is just one way that we can show our appreciation.”

To qualify for the discount, customers must provide one of the following forms of identification:

·        U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card

·         U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card

·         Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)

·        Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW)

·         DD214 Certificate Veteran Identification Card (VIC)

·        Photograph in U.S. Uniform or wearing U.S. Uniform–at store director discretion

The discount may not be used towards purchases of prescription products, alcohol, tobacco, fluid dairy (where prohibited by law), money orders, postage stamps, lottery tickets, wire transfer services, gift cards, purchases made at fuel centers, bill pay services or products and services provided as convenience for our customers. Not valid towards previous purchase. In the event of return, coupon savings may be deducted from refund. Customer is responsible for all sales tax on purchased items. Offer may not be combined with associate rewards.

Note that you cannot use the coupon on two items that total less than $2.50. The two items must exceed $2.50. But, here are some good candidates. All prices were gathered at the Huntley Jewel:

  • $1 – EE single Paper Towel roll
  • $1.09 – EE Scrub Sponge
  • $1.49 – EE 2-pack Erasers (like Magic Erasers)
  • $1.49 – EE Steel Wool pads
  • $1.49- EE big Paper Towel roll

Here are some ideas:

One EE scrub sponge ($1.09) and one EE 2-pack erasers, steel wool or big paper towel roll ($1.49) – total $2.58. After coupon, pay .08 for both!

One roll of EE paper towels ($1) and one EE 64-ounce bleach ($1.69) – total, $2.69. After coupon, just .19!

One roll of EE paper towels ($1) and one EE toilet bowl cleaner ($1.89) – total, $2.89. After coupon, just .39!

NOTE: This $2.50 coupon has NOT been scanning automatically at the register. Make sure it comes off your total, or have the cashier adjust it for you.

While this one is not in the ad, the rolls are still scanning at $1. I had one reader write last week who did not see sale tags at the store, but also did not scan a roll. Why not scan a roll and see if your store has them for $1 too?

For Grillers, buy three and use three $1 coupons from the 5/19 SS2. Pay $3 for three, or $1 each!

For potatoes and Grillers, buy two bags of potatoes and one bag of Grillers. Use the $1.50-off-2 from the 5/5 SS and one $1 Griller coupon from the 5/19 SS2. Pay $3.50 for three, or about $1.17 each!

Pantene is also part of SavingStar’s Save $5.00 when you spend $25.00 on any Venus® and Pantene® products and Olay® bars, body washes or in-shower body lotion offer (exp. 6/26).

For Minute Maid lemonade and fruit punch, use this $1 printable for Minute Maid 12-packs – they’re $1.50 after coupon and sale!

For Seagram’s ginger ale, use the .55 coupon from the 5/19 SS2 and pay $1.95!

The 5/22 ad for some Centrella stores (my local store is Wisted’s) has $3-off-4 manufacturer coupon for the Coke and a $2-off-4 for the Pepsi. With these, drop four Coke 12-packs to $7, or $1.75 each! And drop four Pepsi 12-packs to $8, or $2 each!

There’s also a “Buy 2 Quaker, get $1 off Milk” coupon in the 5/19 RP that would also net these for $1.50 per box if you bought milk too…

The 5/19 SS1 also has a coupon for $4 off any Glenmark Premier burger product with the purchase of any Glenmark Classic item. The Glenmark Premier burgers are priced at $8.99 at my store (including mini burger patties, “slider” size.) With coupon, pay $4.99.

(Note that while this is a good price for Kingsford, Walmart has TWO 15lb. bag twin packs (30 pounds) for $6.98 through 5/27 too. If you’re a charcoal griller, that’s your best bet!)

  1. Two things I noticed today when I went in to Jewel:

    The 34-ounce Heinz ketchup is on sale for $1.67, which I thought was “okay” & I didn’t blog it – today though I saw that the Simply Heinz, which is HFCS free, is also on sale for that price! Use the .25 coupon from the 5/19 SS2 and pay $1.42. It’s not always easy to get deals on ketchup that doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup — especially since Hunt’s has put HFCS back IN to their ketchup.

    Second, All laundry detergent is on sale for $4.99. If you didn’t do the All detergent deal when the All was cheaper a few weeks ago, use the $1.50 store coupon from the Allergy Relief coupon book and stack it with the $1 coupon from the 5/5 RP. You’ll pay $2.49.

    (All is also going to be on sale for $3.49 starting Sunday at Walgreens though — with the $1 coupon, $2.49.)

  2. FYI, I mailed in my form and receipt on April 1 and received the caldero today. As these sorts of offers go, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it arrived. YMMV, though. :)

  3. There is a Seagrams Ginger Ale coupon for $.55 off a 12 pack in the 5-19 SS and it is included in the Coke sale. I just bought 5 tonight along with the Minute Maid deal. Well DD and I went together. Sixteen 12 packs….for about $30! We are ready to entertain all Summer and into the Fall. Forgot my Centrella coupon. Guess I will have to go get 4 more tomorrow.

  5. For this deal:

    $6.99 Johnsonville Grillers with FREE Johnsonville brats
    32oz. boxes of Johnsonville Grillers burger patties (ad shows 6ct. swiss mushroom burgers) are on sale for $8.99. Use the $2 coupon from the 5/19 SS1 and pay $6.99. Then, cut the coupon from this week’s Jewel ad for a FREE 19oz. package of Johnsonville Brats when you buy Grillers and get those too!

    …cashier would not let me use both coupons and insisted that the BOGO coupon was attached to both products. I tried to tell her that the BOGO coupon was attached to the brats and the Grillers coupon was attached to the Grillers but she would not budge. She said the cash register would not let it go through.

    Anyone else having problems?

  6. I also had trouble with the Johnsville deal…cashier swiped coupons 3 times and register would not allow it. I was lucky that she understood that the coupons were not for the same product and she manually entered it.
    Same happened with the Jewel coupon for $2.50 off any 2 Essential Everyday cleaning products. I purchased 2 double paper towel rolls. The cashier said paper towels must not be considered cleaning products. Hmmm….really? Then what are they used for?! She manually entered that one too!

  7. Just got home from the McHenry Jewel. Dial 3-packs were not on sale. They (all scents) were at the regular price…$2.48 a 3-pack. And the Ore-Ida grillers were 2/$6 not 3/$6 which only saved you about 48-cents each. Passed on both.
