Over the past few weeks, Jewel-Osco has been issuing their full Sunday ad online, with many delivery areas receiving a thinner, paper ad in the Sunday paper. This week, quite a few readers have written to say they’re having issues at the store. Some of them have been doing the Nestle and Dr. Pepper Catalinas shown in the online ad, and the Catalinas were not printing at the register. Then, when they asked customer service for assistance, some of them are being told that because these sales are not in the paper ad, they’re not running at that particular Jewel-Osco store.
Yesterday, Jewel-Osco held a media luncheon for bloggers (which I’ll post more about soon!) and I asked some questions about the changes to the Sunday ad. Here’s what I learned:
- The Sunday Jewel-Osco ad is appearing in a shorter form in many areas, but the full ad found online is valid for all stores.
- If a sale or offer appears in the online ad, but not in your paper ad, it is still valid at all stores.
Based on the reader feedback I’ve been receiving, I shared that it would be helpful if the stores were informed that there are more pages to the ad, and that the pages in the online ad are valid at every store too as there seems to be a lot of confusion on this. I was told that to save money, the thinner ads are being used in some areas, but they’ll try to better communicate to everyone that the full, online ad is valid everywhere.

The Jewel Sunday ad only has a few items that aren’t in the Thursday, weekly ad. That’s why it’s only 1 page. Only occasionally are their new items, and when there are, it’s only a handful. The P&G sales usually start on Sunday but that’s it.

can you sign up somewhere to have them email you the online ad or do you have to go to the jewel web site every sunday and look for it?
