As I posted about last month, the new policy indeed excludes all store competitor coupons:
Competitor’s Store coupon: Effective November 1, 2013 Jewel-Osco no longer accepts Competitor Store Coupons
And, while the employee heads-up I got last month noted that no coupons with another store’s name on them would be accepted, here’s what the new policy actually says:
Catalina Manufacturer Coupons with the verbiage “Redeemable only at” [a competitor]) CANNOT be redeemed at Jewel-Osco
Catalina STORE Coupons issued from another Competitor/Retailer cannot be accepted.
To me, this would indicate that Catalinas from Dominick’s, or Meijer, which are manufacturer coupons could still be accepted as long as they do not say “Redeemable Only At.” However, I would expect some resistance on this, as all of the employees at my store were told that they couldn’t accept anything with another store’s name or logo on it…
The remainder of the policy appears to be the same — overage is still allowed and can be applied to other items in the same transaction, and you can still use one manufacturer coupon on each item (Buy One Get One Free.)
11/8 UPDATE: Jewel responded on Facebook to clarify this part of their policy:
J.R. says
As long as the store gets reimbursed for the coupon by the manufacturer, they should accept the coupon.
Is it any wonder that Jewel and Dominicks are losing market share to the other folks?
