Two years ago today, I launched JillCataldo.com, and for tens of thousands of readers each week, shopping’s never been the same!

On July 7, 2008, I began blogging grocery deals after a series of Chicago Sun-Times articles focused on my coupon habits. In June of 2008 the Sun-Times ran a story on my super-couponing skills. After that story ran, over the next three weeks, the Sun-Times kept publishing follow-up pieces, interviews, and questions from readers interested in my story. People then kept telling me to start a blog. I wasn’t really sure if I needed one, but a few weeks later, the blog was born and I began speaking directly with people who wanted to learn to use coupons.

You might wonder which came first, the classes or the blog… definitely the blog! I began teaching coupon classes about a month after the blog launched, and the rest?

I’ve become…

Not too bad for a little mom of three :)

  3. I read one of your first articles in the Red Eye paper. Back then ( Summer of 2008) I used to take a bus to get to work and everyday picked up a Red Eye to sweeten my travel time.
    In that article, I remember, a picture of you and Amy throwing coupons around and there was a copy of your receipt. Receipt total was close to zero. I had never seen anything like that in my life. It was hard to believe, but the receipt was the proof . Immediately, I wanted to know more about these women in the picture.
    On the very bottom of the article was a very small reference to a website. I check it out later that day. It was your and Amy’s website together. I think, where was only schedule of upcoming classes, but no deals. But on the bottom of the webpage was a link to a different website. That was your site dedicated to deals!

    So many deals and years later, congratulations to you and your wonderful website!!!

I have told you this before…and can’t say it enough, THANK YOU even though those words don’t cut it when I think about what you have done for us….It’s the best I got!   19. Jill I was in one of your April classes and lost my paper that I got there. I was interested in trying out ‘The Grocery Game.com’ and remembered that you had deal on your flier. Is there anyway I could get that coupon from you again?

    I have been with you for 1 yr 47 weeks. Well, that is when I joined the blog. I was in your first class at the church in Huntley before I became a member of your blog(I think). Although I will never have a $60/wk grocery bill like lots of you do for a family of 6(we have food allergies and so some of our food is costly), I have saved over 50% on my food bills. For this I thank you.
    I rarely post, but view frequently!
    I now have a difficult time paying full price for anything. My husband loves this but at the same time hates it! He loves that I save money, but not that I tell him that I won’t buy his (fill in the blank) until I have a coupon and its on sale!
    Thank you for all you do.
