Six years ago today, I launched JillCataldo.com, and for tens of thousands of readers each week, shopping’s never been the same!

In June of 2008, the Chicago Sun-Times ran a story on my super-couponing skills. After that story ran, over the next three weeks, the Sun-Times kept publishing follow-up pieces, interviews, and questions from readers interested in my story. Jonathon Brandmeier invited me onto his radio show to discuss grocery savings, and at the end of that first segment, he said that he was going to have me on each week so I could share what was free and cheap with coupons at the supermarket. And he did! I started doing “Deals of the Week” on the radio with Johnny. A few weeks into those radio-only “Deals of the Week” segments, which were immediately popular with his radio audience, this blog was born. On July 7, 2008, I began blogging grocery deals, and I began speaking directly with people who wanted to learn to use coupons.

You might wonder which came first, my Super-Couponing workshops or the blog… definitely the blog! I began teaching coupon classes about a month after this blog launched, and the rest is history.

  117. and can no longer go to a store w/o at least checking in with Jill or her trusty side kick Coupon Tom. It’s been a crazy and fabulous ride, really, really a lot of fun back when, free ice cream!, free expensive razors and cereal! Being able to donate soup and so much good stuff to the food bank, which really had to help at a dark time for so many.

    So much more like: The anticipation at the register….did i do it like Jill said? Do I give the mfr coupon 1st then the Wags Q or is it the other way? Is this a coupon friendly cashier or one of those that thinks I’m trying to steal everything? I can’t buy that today, I know there’s a Q for it!! Almost every week was an adrenaline rush!!

    Nowhere near the same anymore, but definitely a way of life for my family. “Dad I need some mascara coupons what does Jill have” Jill, I hope you have had as much fun or at least understand how much you have helped and educated sooooo many people! Thanks for everything you do, as always!

    It was a blast and then I spread the word to everyone I knew.

  127. In 2008 times got tough for our family. The economy was not kind to us. We had to be innovated. This website was my saving grace. I learned how to stock up. I learned how to save my coupons. I had been doing it all wrong prior to you and your website. I took the time to put my grocery list together, gather my coupons and headed off to the stores on Monday.
