Shopping Kohl’s spring clothing collection

I have to admit, I don’t often shop for entire new, head-to-toe outfits. Kohl’s is one of my favorite places to bargain hunt — they have good sales, great clearance, and fun promos like Kohl’s Cash which make putting deals together a fun experience. But part of that treasure-hunt approach to shopping means that I’m usually buying one item here, another item there, and putting different looks together by assembling a variety of pieces purchased at different times.

So, when Kohl’s invited me to check out their new spring clothing collection and shop for an entirely new outfit, I was in! I needed a new outfit for a work-related event later this month, so I headed off to Kohl’s in search of a new look.

As soon as I saw this Lauren Conrad sleeveless blouse, I knew what I would be building an outfit around! I love layering jackets over sleeveless pieces as it’s easy to go from professional to casual by simply removing the jacket. (And, I also hoped I could find a great jacket to go with this too…) I really like the style of this as the fabric is delicate but not too sheer, and the front pintuck detail makes it much dressier looking than a flat-front cami or tank. This top was on sale for $28, down from $40.

What to pair this with? These Apt. 9 Modern Fit dress pants! I have a hard time finding dress pants that fit, because I’m longer in the torso and shorter in the legs. I often take two or three styles to the fitting room, cross my fingers and hope that one of them might fit. I am happy to report that these fit me really well — great length, perfect waist — and I really like the detailing on these too. They have a faux leather piping that circles the waist and edges the pockets out. It gives these pants a little extra detail that I really like. These pants were on sale for $32.99, down from $48. (And, as I’m writing this, I see they are now on sale for $23.99!)

 

The third piece of my outfit is this 212 Collection cropped tweed jacket. I love jackets with zippers – totally my style! This jacket has a black satin lining, perfect for cuffing and rolling the sleeves up. This jacket was on sale for $39.60, down from $66.

And here’s the whole outfit! I like how this whole outfit can easily go from business to casual by taking the jacket off. I can add a scarf and have an entirely different look too. My husband also liked this outfit, although when he saw me come home with a Kohl’s bag in my hand, he said “What did you buy? I bet it’s black.” (Doesn’t he know me well?) Yes, I do wear mostly black… but I know what I like. Black is always “in,” and it never goes out of style!

I can’t wait to go back and spend my Kohl’s Cash too. While I was shopping for “spring business casual,” these Rock & Republic jeans were also calling my name..! (Remember the long-torso, short-legs issue I brought up earlier? Rock & Republics are all I wear now after I bought some a couple years ago. I always watch for sales, but they run true to size and actually fit me. Love ’em!)
