My syndicated Super-Couponing Tips column for the week is entitled “Bounce-back coupons.”
Here’s an excerpt:
“About two weeks ago, I bought a package of laundry detergent. The label said, ‘$7 worth of coupons inside.’ It is a powdered detergent, so it took doing a few loads to expose the coupons printed on the inside of the cardboard box. Even though I bought this in January, the coupons printed in the box expired in December 2018! You would think they would put extra-long dates inside packages that will be sitting on the shelf.”

I recently noticed a similar thing, but on the coupons attached to the outside of a package.
Last week, my local Walmart had the pumpkin spice Kellogg’s cereals on clearance, The family size boxes were $2.00, and each had a coupon for $2.00 off milk or fruit with purchase of two. Since I was already buying a couple gallons of milk, this seemed like a great deal! However, upon inspecting the coupons closer, the expiration date on them (which had to be pulled off the box to see) was 12/31/18. The coupons on the packages were all expired! The deal was not so good then, and the boxes were put back on the clearance cart.

I saw the same coupons on Special K pumpkin spice at both Jewel and Meijer. I was actually buying them at Meijer, but using my $1/2 paper coupon since they were only priced at 82c a box. It was a regular sized box. I checked the expire dates on the boxes of cereal and they are not until later this year. You would think those coupons would be about the same!
