My syndicated Super-Couponing Tips column for the week is entitled “Coupon misuse is fraud, no matter what name it hides under.“
Here’s an excerpt:
“If I have a coupon that says: ‘ANY one lotion product excluding 4 oz.’ what my friend is telling me is this: The word ‘Any’ means that the coupon is actually good on any size of the product, even if it has exclusions. She says the word ‘ANY’ legally overrides any other sizes printed on the coupon. She says this is a loophole called ‘balanced couponing.’

I’m glad the letter writer thought enough that something was off to contact you and get the straight scoop. Much of the lousy changes in coupons are directly the result of fraud like ‘balanced couponing’. You do us all a great service by calling attention to this through your syndicated column, Jill. One hope of mine is that, in 2020, the number of papers carrying your column greatly increases! Happy New Year!
