My syndicated Super-Couponing Tips column for the week is entitled “‘Doing laundry on ‘lockdown’ and preparing for the unexpected.“
Here’s an excerpt:
“The Coronavirus-related stay-at-home orders that kept much of the country on lockdown have changed the way people will prepare for the unexpected in the future. Over the past few months, we were reminded repeatedly that where and how someone lives make an enormous difference as to how they were able to cope with staying home for an extended period.“

A good topic. Applicable to a wide audience as well. If someone’s washer or dryer broke down when the concern was highest, do they let a repairman in? What to do if it would take time to get a part? Seems like both your aunt and daughter adapted well. I figured your daughter couldn’t come home because of the self imposed contact limits you were observing. I didn’t know she gave up a car, but that makes perfect sense if she lives in downtown Chicago.

Thank you. Yes, I’ve wondered about other laundry-related issues too. Were repair personnel even available in the peak of the Corona lockdown, etc? I think we have all tried to adapt as much as possible.
And yes, she sold her car about six months ago — it was older and had some issues, and then she began getting tickets for not moving the car every three days! (She was moving it, but when you take the car out and return it to exactly the same spot, because that’s the only spot perpetually open by your building… apparently that does not count to the City of Chicago.)

My best advice is to buy a WonderWash and a Panda spin dryer. Then, hang the finished items on a drying rack. It’s saved us from the laundromat for the past three years.
