Here’s an excerpt:
“As it had been some time since I purchased toner, I experienced sticker shock when I headed to the store and found that the toner I previously paid $40 for was now $65. A quick check of a popular online marketplace showed it for $30, so I bought it there…”

We switched from inkjet to laser years ago. Laser prints MUCH faster, cheaper, better, and the color ink cartridge always dried out on us long before it ran out of ink. I just found an article listing the cost of a gallon of HP ink as $3482! And you thought gas or milk was expensive!
We have a Brother laser printer that is also a copier and scanner, and prints duplex (both sides) saving paper. It’s networked, so it serves all the computers in the house, not just the one it’s connected to like the typical inkjet.
I’ve had excellent luck with both generic toner cartridges and refill kits for the cartridges. The local store has a Brother cartridge for my printer for $77. NewEgg has the same cartridge for $54, but they have generic Ink4Work cartridges for as little as $15 and refills from LaserTech as cheap as 7.50! A cartridge or refill lasts us about a year of trouble free printing. I’ve had no issues with either the generics or the refill kits. Be warned that laser toner is the world’s messiest substance, and you need to spread old newspaper or something when refilling the cartridge or you’ll have a nasty mess.
If we really need color (rare) we take the file to the local office store and have them laser print it for us.
