Super-Couponers, ready for yet another giveaway? This week, I’m giving away a Couponizer!

The Couponizer is a specialty coupon organizer. It’s a sturdy, plastic-and-cardboard spiral-bound book with pockets to sort your coupons by product type or department. It also has three vinyl pockets at the front of the book to hold your shopper loyalty cards for various stores.

The Couponizer also comes with additional tools, including notepads for keeping track of your shopping list and ongoing savings, a pair of scissors, a vinyl zippered carrying case, and a coupon sorting mat called the CoupStacker. The CoupStacker is a mat that you can lay on the table to sort loose coupons into the Couponizer’s corresponding categories.



When I received this Couponizer, I was really interested in checking it out. My readers and workshop attendees know that I teach a “clipless” coupon system, which is different than the traditional clip-and-sort-everything “binder” method that coupon shoppers have used for years. With the “clipless” method, you’re only cutting exactly what you need for the week, and you don’t necessarily need anything special to carry them around in. I’m a tiny-purse girl too, so I like to use the smallest coupon wallet possible, with one pocket labeled for each store in my area. I cut just this week’s coupons, drop them in the pocket, and I’m off to the store. I keep the front pocket in my wallet empty prior to each trip, and as I go through the store adding products to my cart, I move coupons from my “Jewel” pocket up to the front pocket in the wallet. When I get to the register, everything in the front pocket corresponds to what’s in my cart. I hand that pile over, and I’m out of the store very quickly. (And, I like to present the most inexpensive options for carrying coupons too — little plastic coupon wallets are $1-$5 at most stores.)

However, the “binder method” does have its devotees too. Some people do prefer to cut and carry coupons for more (or all!) products and categories than they’re actually buying each week, and if you’re one of them, you might really like the Couponizer. It’s definitely a much smaller and more portable organizer than toting around a large three-ring binder filled with baseball card sheets (the way many binder couponers still do things.)

The Couponizer is kind of a melding between my preferred coupon-wallet method (one wallet pocket for my current shopping trip) and the binder method, with pockets specified for each category of product. The pockets are made of a plastic-coated cardboard, and they include:

  • Shopping List (pocket holds shopping-list notepad)
  • Coupons For This Shopping Trip (coupons you intend to use at this store)
  • Checkout (coupons you’ll hand to the cashier once you’re in the lane)
  • 18 pockets for specific categories (Baking, Beverages, Breakfast, etc.)
  • Additional pockets to hold non-grocery coupons (restaurants, clothing) as well as rebate forms, Catalinas, and receipts

  1. After these last two catalina sales, my coupon carrier split right down the side. I’m going to have to duct tape it together to make it through next weeks sale. If I don’t win, I’ll seriously consider this one! I get so many IP’s that it’s hard to keep them organized. Of course, winning one instead would be wonderful!

  2. I’m a newbie and I’ve been using my own system of individual paper envelopes – one for each store! But they are cumbersome, awkward, and get ratty so quickly! They fall apart and I have to replace them frequently! This would be an awesome addition to help me get organized and cut my time down tremendously! I am still learning how to do this more efficiently and appreciate all the help I can get! THANK YOU!!! Jill, thanks for your insight on how you handle your coupons. I like the idea of putting the coupons in the front of the pocket holder as you put the item in your cart! I can’t always get everything I clip a coupon for, as the shelves are usually empty, so I have more coupons than I have items in the cart! This would help cut down on the embarrassing fumbling in the check out line!

  3. I have a coupon organizer that snaps to the shopping cart. I actually stuffed it so much it ripped on both sides. I had to staple both sides until I can find an organizer that would hold all of my coupons for each week. I would like to thank you for sharing your treasures with all of your readers. I am using more and more coupons and with items on sale/special and the savings really add up. I am trying to spread the word to my family!!

  11. I would love to receive this wonderful tool. I took both of your classes in 2008 and have several of my Pingree Grove friends couponing as well. I did the non clipping method until this year and now carry a binder. However my binder is tearing so I am in need of a replacement.
    I switched to the clipping method because I feel I was missing out on some grocery deals and now that I know only certain items work for my home I no longer need to keep coupons I do not use.
    At times my friends and I switch those coupons we do not use so they do not go to waste.

I also prefer to sort my coupons by store along with a printed list that I carry with each store flyer in case they don’t have any left in the store.   64. I’ve always been a coupon user-some periods of my life more than others. I’ve had organizers before but none as systematized as this. Currently, I carry my coupons in a notebook and more times that I care to remember they have fall out and on to the floor of a crowded grocery aisle.   73. One of the biggest problems I have couponing is organizing all the coupons I have that aren’t in the weekly inserts. I have tried a big binder and it is really difficult to put that and my two small children in the cart. My baby always trys to pull the stuff out of my binders too, or throw the big binder on the floor because it squishes her! Something smaller like this I can put off to the side where she cant get at it or in my purse. How exciting, this is a great tool.

  157. I don’t cut all my coupons but do struggle with where to put the ones that I do cut or that I print. I seem to always run out of sections and then I file where I think that item might go. When I go back to find a coupon, I must think it should go elsewhere because I can’t seem to find them most of the time. A little more organization would be good.

  182. I’m so excited about this couponizer! I was just thinking to myself yesterday morning that I needed a better way to organize my coupons. I’m a coupon newbie so I haven’t gotten all the bugs out just yet, but I did want to let you know that I did a fantastic job at Walgreens last week, I was so excited, I started leaping for joy in the parking lot! :) I had 5 “buy 2 get $2 off” nivea lip care coupons and 1 “buy 1 get $1 off” coupon and then Walgreens had the products on sale for $1.00!!! I purchased 11 nivea lip care products and only spent .77!!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it, I was so excited! I saved the receipt and put it on my refrigerator, I saved over $41.00 from the regular price of $2.56 each. :)

  185. The couponizer looks interesting, I purchase several newspapers and on one set I’ll cut the coupons and insert into my
    envelopes, and the other sets, I’ll mark the date received and do the clipless.

    The mat for the loose coupons will make it easier.

  239. This would make it SO much easier for me to handle my coupons and my little ones while at the store!! I have the larger binder’s, but it is to much for me to handle. I have used it to store my expired coupons that I do not get to use. They were just sitting in a folder and needed to be placed somewhere that “little fingers” could not get to!   253. Since starting to follow your method a few months ago i have used many different methods to carry my coupons to the store. I thought about the big 3-ring bidder for a while, but could never locate the baseball card sheets at the stores (they were always out of stock)! I started to use a small index card oraganizer, but the flap in the front kept getting in my way. I currently carry the coupons, clipped onto my shopping list and it somewhat works, until a coupon decides to fall (literally) out of line! LOL! This couponizer would be nice to keep my coupons together, off the floor and organized by store. Thank you very much for everything you do for us! : )
