Ever want to try a product before it hits the shelves at the supermarket? Betty Crocker recently offered this opportunity to bloggers, and because my kids love cupcakes, I thought, why not? Betty Crocker Fun-Da-Middles cupcake mix will be in stores this summer, but the Cataldo team of expert bakers mixed up a batch this past week to try them out! If you like what you see & want to try them yourselves, keep reading… as you too can win and enjoy a box of Fun-Da-Middles before they’re available in stores!

To enter, simply post a comment under this article! This Betty Crocker Fun-Da-Middles cupcake mix giveaway begins today, June 12, 2011, and runs for one week. The contest will end on June 18th at 11:59pm, and on June 19th, one winner will be chosen via a random number generator!

 

Here’s how Fun-Da-Middles went over at our house…


My boys love to bake, so I set all the ingredients out and turned them loose! Just like a boxed cake mix, you add oil, water and eggs.
(Sure, it’s June, but Christmas-themed cupcake papers are always in season at the Cataldo house. Why? Because Mom stocked up when they were .05 a package after the holidays…)
Mixing everything together…

Once the cupcake papers are half full, you squeeze some of the filling packet into the cupcake mix. As you can see, the boys couldn’t resist tasting a little of it in the process..! Then, you cover the middle filling up with another spoonful of cupcake mix.

Mom popped them in the oven, and the boys waited…

Once the cupcakes were done, the boys decided to add some frosting, and then… the taste test.

Approved! The directions do advise waiting quite a while for the filling to cool before eating. Other thoughts? I like that there is no high-fructose corn syrup in the mix or filling. The boys were disappointed that the mix only made 12 cupcakes — as junior kitchen pros, they pointed out that a regular cake mix “fills up two muffin pans” at our house (equaling 24 cupcakes… and they’re right!)

  3. Your boys are adorable. My youngest niece is a chef in the making, and I am planning a trip to visit her in August. So if I win these, I’ll save them for the visit. Or maybe they’ll be for sale by then and I’ll take boxes of them!

  74. My kids & I would LOVE to win this!!! Baking is my secret stress-relief therapy. It puts me at ease, my kids love eating the result of my “de-stressing time” & it’s a win-win situation for the whole family!

    On a side note, I was very happy to see that they were using the Tupperware Mix & Pour bowl. :) We ALWAYS use that in our house too.
