Phoenix’s AZFamily.com spoke with a woman who “saved hundreds” using SavvyShopperSite’s counterfeit coupons:
The saying ‘If it seems too good to be true, it probably is’ didn’t stop one woman from buying fake coupons.
“I feel like it was too good to be true but it was working,” said Misty from South Carolina who didn’t want to give her last name while speaking to 3TV over the phone. Misty said she saved hundreds of dollars on baby formula and diapers for her newborn, after she was referred to the site by family members three months ago.
“I don’t feel like I did anything wrong because I didn’t know that this was fraudulent. I didn’t have any idea. So I feel like a victim in this situation,” said Misty.
If you do have the counterfeit coupons, police say you should destroy them before throwing them away. Don’t use them or you could be arrested.
The story also notes that the suspects are still being held in jail, and the value of what they stole from stores and manufacturers now tops $600 million dollars.

>>the value of what they stole from stores and manufacturers now tops $600 million dollars.<< Holy mackerel! If this is the value of stolen goods from mfr and retailers, and considering they sold fake coupons @ 50% face value for most, we're looking for at least $150 to $300 million gross here? The $450K cash bail bond ought to be raised for Robin's temporary liberty. I hope this case is NOT dismissed or else they will re-group and this scam will continue.

Give me a break…she thought it was too good to be true but really didn’t care. She played the ignorance is bliss card but that doesn’t cut it in a court of law. Just because you didn’t know it was against the law doesn’t pardon you from the crime.
I really hope they arrest some of the folks who use these coupons at least since the bust and the media makes a big deal of it. Maybe just maybe people will sit up and take notice…
