If you’re planning a trip to Kmart to take advantage of their double coupon promotion this week, you may want to check out the winter clothing clearance going on too. Winter clearance clothes (man, woman, and child) have dropped to $1.99 each, already a fabulous price — but if you printed a $10-off-$20 coupon for Kmart when they were available, you’ll be able to do really well with this sale.
In my Super-Couponing 2 class, I talk about the yearly, seasonal clothing clearances and the times of the year in which they happen — it’s a great way to buy ahead of our needs for next season or next year, at fantastic savings.
Here’s what I bought today for my sons at $1.99 each (pre-coupon):
5 pairs Disney blue jeans
2 pairs Basic Edition cargo pants
2 Route 66 long-sleeve shirts
1 Basic Edition long-sleeve flannel shirt
1 two-pair set of NASCAR pajamas (my favorite find… and theirs! Two pairs of 100% cotton pajamas for $1.99 BEFORE coupons? Oh yes.)
Total: $21.89 – minus $10-off-$20 coupon = $11.89! That works out to $1.08 per item (and in the case of the pajamas, .54 a pair.)
And… I also picked up 5 boxes of dog treats for the Cataldo canine, free with doubled coupons.

Other notes: I shopped at the Crystal Lake, IL location, where it was kind of slim pickings for boys’ clothes (not as much for the larger sizes as far as pants, many long sleeve shirts though) but there are LOTS of clearance clothes for toddler and young girls at this location. And, a lot of the clearance is on big shelves and racks in the MIDDLE of the store, not necessarily in the clothes’ specific departments. Another note – one of my readers pointed out that at their store, they were told only 4 like coupons would be accepted. I wasn’t aware of this being one of the terms of the promotion, nor was I told this at the register — but as with ANY Kmart Doubles trip, I’d cut many more coupons than you plan to use, because you never know what will be in stock once you get to the store.

I did the clothes last week when they were $2.99 each.
I knew from the class that they would be cheaper, but wasn’t sure how picked over they would be by then and needed to stock up! I went twice and used the 10 off 20 each time so each piece was only 1.50. Fourteen Disney and Fisher Price items for 24 dollars(after tax)! Still a great price as far as I’m concerned!
What coupon did you use for the dog treats?

I went to the Kmart in Round Lake, IL, and after calling the manager over, I was only allowed to use one $10/$20 coupon total! She told me that her instructions from Kmart’s corporate office was to only allow one coupon per person per day! They would only hold the clothes until closing, so I returned with my husband and two very sleepy children at 8 pm. We managed to sneak through two separate checkout lines, utilizing four more coupons.
I bought ten long sleeved shirts for my son, another ten for my daughter, and enough hats, gloves, and scarves to last a couple winters, all for $1/piece! I also bought some cute summer clothes ONLY 30% off pre-coupon, but they were too cute to pass up.
I’m happy, but very annoyed at the lengths I had to take to use more than one coupon, when it doesn’t state anywhere that I can only use one coupon per person per day.

What happens if your coupon is for $3 before doubling? Does it get doubled to $5 (2+2+1)or not at all?
no doubling says
I got this from the Bloomingdale store on Sunday.

Wow I had quite the experience at the Crystal Lake Kmart yesterday. Machines were so slow that people were dropping merchandise left and right and leaving the store…then when it was finally my turn the cashier told me that they would not accept the $10 off $20 unless it had my address on it…ok so I still get double coupons right? The cashier tried to double them for me instead of allowing the machine to do it correctly and then after not being about to use the printed coupon she shorted me $2.00..so off to customer service I went where I found a $5 off coupon just sitting on the counter calling my name. When all was said and done. 30 minutes later as I fed my 3 month old while waiting I ended up getting a pretty good deal for all I got, but don’t think I’ll return there anytime soon. Here’s what I got..for about $35 I would have paid about $80 even with sale prices without coupons!
Neutrogena baby sunblock full size
Lanhiosh milkbags (25 count)
2 packs of Huggies Diapers
1 bag of Iams cat food
1 pair of shorts, sweatpants and a shirt with sequins for my 4 year old
1 egg dying kit

So, my husband needed a toothbrush today. PERFECT, I said! I can get it free at Kmart.
Well, on the way to Crystal Lake store I decided, I’ll just go to Woodstock (it’s closer), even though I can’t use the $10 off $20 there, maybe they’ll have some cheaper prices since they’re closing.
WRONG!!!
Not only are they not taking/doubling coupons or going by the flyer, most of the prices were MORE expensive than what Jill listed for the CL store. I browsed for awhile to see if they had some super cheap bedding, clothes, etc… Still, nothing so cheap that I couldn’t pass it up. In fact most things were very similar pricing to what you can get at WalMart or Target regularly.
What a disappointment.
Next time I am for sure going to the Crystal Lake store :)

Does anyone else know if this is “true”:
the cashier told me that today (4/7) would be the LAST day that the store would take “photocopies” of the $10/$20 coupon, but they would accept only coupons directly printed from their website. I told him that the coupon i was presenting him wasn’t xeroxed or anything? But does he really mean that we can’t use these pdf-copied coupons anymore— afterall, it was in pdf form in the first place coming right from their website!? PLEASE ADVISE! :)))

Took a trip to the Kmart store in Bloomingdale yesterday afternoon and did okay. Tried to find winter clearance items but found none for my kids. Also tried to use the Filtrete coupons for filters and bags but found they did not carry that brand. Was able to use the Stayfree coupons for 3 free, although one package was torn open (they were the last ones on the shelf). Bought a few other items to take advantage of the $20/10 coupon.
All in all, after double coupons and before the $10 coupon, my total was $20.51. After the $10 was taken off, it was brought down to $11.70. Not bad.

I did not find any clothes for my kids on clearence so I went a different route with my coupons.. I bought things I would have bought anyway that I could not get coupons for and rarely see on sale. I bought 2 wii remotes, a wii remote charger, a mr coffee iced tea maker, a blender that was on sale $10 cheaper than Target to begin with. A nice watch, again on sale, for my 10 year old son.
I have used alot of those coupons and have been very happy with the deals
I got. It seems like most of you are using them for the cheap clothes..I would have had I found any that worked for my family, or coupon related items.
I just thought I would let you know the other ways I got some great items for half price or huge discounts.

Has anyone received a $5 cat on the quilted northern tp at Kmart? I wanted to use my q’s and $10/$20.
NewThrifty says
If you printed the $1/1 7up coupon the other day (sorry, don’t know if it’s still available), the 0.5 liter 6-packs are on sale for $2.50…..that’s $.50 after double. Also, small tide stain release (16 count) are $4.49…. if you have any $2.00 coupons (I had some from the tide detergent boxes) it makes them $0.49 after double.

I checked out the men’s section. There didn’t seem to be a clearance section at all. I don’t remember seeing any clothes that weren’t K-Mart brand either. For cheaper clothes I like JCPenney when the clothes are marked down.

Cashier and manager confirmed that I could either use my manufacturer coupons OR my 10 off 20. My total after man q’s would have still been over $20, but they said no.
Guess I have to find another Kmart.

I hate Kmart, but thought I would try shopping there. I printed the Buy 1 get one coupon for the Mac & Cheese. They said they don’t accept buy one get one. I was going to buy the Snuggles with the $3 off coupons that are on sale for $4. There was no one to ask, none of the shelf. I went to customer service and waited 20 minutes for them to find someone who could tell them they don’t have any and they could handwrite me a raincheck, but then it is only good at their store. I only came home with oranges!

I thought they had great stuff in electronics. I also got the Squekwil Chipmunks movie for only 10.99. I tis not a Disney movie and I never came across coupons for it. It was $1 more than Target before coupon but with the coupon it was only 10.99. Not bad.
