OH YES! This is the big clothing sale that I look forward to every year!
Old Navy’s annual January clearance sale begins today at 9:00am. Old Navy announced it on their Facebook page this morning, advertising up to 80% off clearance! Here’s a $10 off $50 Old Navy coupon to help you out too.
I’ve enjoyed shopping this sale every January for the past five or six years now — the clothing prices, particularly for young children, are really fantastic. Here are some of the things I picked up today:
For my boys…
Numerous boys’ long-sleeve shirts priced at $3.99-$4.99 (orange clearance tag)
Minus 40% off clearance: $2.39-$2.99
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $1.91-$2.39
3 pairs of boys’ cargo pants priced at $8.49
Minus 40% off clearance: $5.09
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $4.08
2 pairs of boys’ jeans priced at $10.49
Minus 40% off clearance: $6.29
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $5.05
4 boys’ cotton pajamas sets priced at $6.99
Minus 40% off clearance: $4.19
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $3.37
The boys’ slippers were .71 after all discounts – the hi-top sneakers were $3.37.
2 boys’ winter jackets priced at $10.99
Minus 40% off clearance: $6.59
Minus $10-off-$50: $5.28
2 pairs of boys’ snow pants priced at $10.49
Minus 40% off clearance: $6.29
Minus $10-off-$50: $5.05
For my teen daughter…
Skull messenger bag priced at $4.99
Minus 40% off clearance: $2.99
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $2.39
Skull frost-free vest priced at $7.99
Minus 40% off clearance: $4.79
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $3.85
Rock t-shirt priced at $2.97
Minus 40% off clearance: $1.78
Minus $10-off-$50 coupon: $1.43
The Sox and Cubs baseball caps (because Dad likes one team and Mom likes the other!) were an incredible .95 each after all discounts — all fleece winter scarves were .46 each.
Other random stuff…
Men’s fleece jacket priced at $10.99
Minus 40% off clearance: $6.59
Minus $10-off-$50: $5.28
Women’s sandals priced at .97
Minus 40% off clearance: .58
Minus $10-off-$50: .47
I also threw in another .46 winter scarf and some stainless steel water bottles. All of their “unlicensed” (meaning, not a character from a movie or television show on the artwork) 500ml and 750ml bottles are on sale for $3. They’re not on “clearance,” so no extra 40% off, but this is a great price for these if you like them, as they can run over $10 each depending on where you buy them.
The Iron Man 750ml bottles though are also on sale for $3 each because they were considered a movie item. (All of the rest of the licensed bottles are $7.50.) After $10-off-$50, Iron Man came home with us for a whopping $2.41.
However, if you like these bottles for kids’ lunches or what not, you’ll want to take note of the 500ml children’s sized bottle with a skiing monkey on the artwork:
These ARE on clearance, because they’re a winter item. They ring up at $2.99 each, with another 40% off that (down to $1.79.) After coupon, I paid $1.44 per bottle, which really is a steal for these bottles.
The Algonquin Old Navy staff was great today, allowing everyone to split orders just over the $50 mark to take advantage of the $10-off-$50 coupons, and they were even walking around making suggestions to shoppers (“The snow pants that go with those jackets are on clearance over here too.”) I also ran into SO many blog readers and sale shoppers this morning at the store.
Oh, and a special note to any women who might want to own some green corduroy pants. (Hey, you never know…) There is a clearance rack of them in every size from 2 to 14 for $1.97 a pair at the Algonquin store, regularly $29.50. They’re really a deep shade of green, but if green IS your color… they’re a steal.

Just a reminder before you go……the sale is UP TO 80% OFF AND NOT 80% OFF I scored lots of deals and still didn’t hit the $50 to use the coupon.

Thanks for posting that coupon too! I haven’t gotten any good ones from the barker bones game on facebook! :-)

Old NAvy will also adjust your receipt if the price changes within 2 weeks, so consider bringing it with you if you return later during the sale:)

I shopped in Joliet – if I had thought to print more than one coupon, the cashier said I could have split my order – but I never thought I’d find so much. I shopped for a baby shower – got a pair of striped thermal pants for A NICKEL and a truck onesie for A QUARTER! Got my son an “in between” jacket for $5.35 – and many other 5T items. There was very little in the bigger boys section. Found an Indiana University (my alma mater)thermal tee for $4.81. Only two items – both jackets – were more than $5. Thank you SO much for posting this – I’m 30+ miles from the nearest Old Navy and wouldn’t have gotten to the sale without your “heads up.” And THEN the manager asked if I’d take a survey and gave me a $5 off my next purchase coupon!

I went to the Orland Park and Chicago Ridge stores yesterday. I don’t think the prices were as good as last year but I still did good between the two stores. I have 2 teenage girls, a 3 year girl, a baby on the way and myself to buy for so we did good. At Orland I got 15 things for $48 (after the 10 off 50 coupon) including a winter coat that was $49.50 original price and snowsuit for the baby. At the Chicago Ridge store I got another 15 things for $45 (after another 10 off 50 coupon)mostly for the teenagers.

Although I live in Orland, they always seem to have a bad clearance section. I got 21 items for 100 bucks I saved 96 bucks. I didn’t think to have them split my order. I am a total newb at this
Thanks for the heads up though I got some summer things for my daughter (all 8 bucks and under) and some things for my son. I find alot of old navy/gap items at thrift stores as well

Does anyone know if Old Navy will accept my coupon if I bring it in with my receipt?

Mgr @ Geneva also runs Algonquin. Mgr said to tell “that coupon lady” thank you – the sales yesterday were amazing! Her one gripe – she wasn’t scheduled to open until 10 am Fri. Since there were people waiting outside @ 9 am, her staff called and she said to open early, of course! While Geneva was picked over – sale started Tues for them – still got some good deals. Will go back to check for additional markdowns… love this sale!

I went to the Downers Grove (75th and Lemont) today, and while the toddler clothes (for boys anyway) were kind of a bust, I really scored on the boys shoes!
A pair of rainboots were marked $10 something but rang up 6.97 and ended up at $3.41 with all the discounts. And the funny thing was that not 5 feet away was a display of the “spring” rainboots for $15!!! No difference that I could see except for the pattern!!
I also got a pair of kids snowboots for $3.67 and high tops for $3.42…. both of which rang up less than what they were marked.
Also- two boys winter coats for $6.12 each. Hope they fit next year!
Overall, out the door with ten items for $48.28, and that’s including a full-priced soccer ball! (Don’t ask) And I was also kind of in a rush, and didn’t shop for us grown-ups at all, because DH was with me and he doesn’t tolerate shopping at all.
Thanks Jill!

I overheard 2 employees talking at the Joliet/Plainfield store and they talking about marking other items down for tomorrow (Sunday). They were also making more room. I stopped the girl and had her explain to me what they were doing for tomorrow and she said that they’ll be marking some of the items down further and marking new items down.
Like my 4 rounds yesterday weren’t enough, now I get to go back and see what’s new ; )

I got really lucky last night, my husband and I stopped at Old Navy after celebrating our Anniversary. I didn’t have my coupon with me, but I wanted to look at what was left since it was about 8:30pm. As I approached the register, the girl asked if I found everything ok, I replied yes, but it would be nicer if I brought my coupon like the one you have there with me. She says, I’ll give you the coupon. I was so greatful, I needed to go back and grab a few more items to make the $50 amount. I had lots of FUN getting my little daughter clothes for next winter.

The Aurora store has tons of stuff! I did 2 rounds so far with the $10 off coupons. I bought a ton of stuff for next year for my 2 1/2 year old twins. I even found a toddler winter coat for next year for $7.20 after all the discounts. I am hoping to go back Monday for some last minute deals, but I got toddler shirts for $1.50, flip flops for 25 cents, a sweater for myself for $8, and I got 5 of the water bottles as “fillers” to use the $10 off q. It actually came out a little cheaper. They have tons of the water bottles, toddler stuff, women’s stuff but no so much for men. I found stuff today that I didn’t see yesterday, so I know they are bringing more stuff out.

These are the same size as the monkey snowflake water bottles Jill photographed, and they are also on clearance for the same price (in case you can’t find any more of these or don’t want the monkeys!)

I got 2 pairs of jeans for my teen daughter for under 9 dollars each, 2 shirts for my niece-2 something each, a pajama top for my son-1.79, and a little water bottle on clearance for .57cents(similar to the skiing monkey one). Green cords were even tried on, but not a fan of the super flare bottoms…hey, I wasn’t gonna pass that one up, but alas I did:)I did not spend enough to use the 10 off coupon over 50 bucks, so I gave it to the lady next to me and she couldn’t believe it. I just had to drop your name and website as I told her to pay it forward some other time for someone! Great day shopping:)

Anyone actually figure out the difference between the original marked prices on their orders v/s what they actually spent? I did two MAJOR trips. One to the O. N. in Shamburg while visiting there and one in IN (closer to home). Several separate orders later, my family is accusing me of being one of the “crazy coupon ladies” from “that” show. My thing is I can’t stand to pay full price for anything, and I have always (since DD#1 was born) bought a season ahead and packed it away rather than pay full price next year. It just makes sense to me. Yes, even with the sale prices I spent a lot of money, but when I look at it all, I won’t have to buy anything but cotton shorts for like two years for DD#1 or DD2be#2. Not even winter coats until my 4YO is maybe in 2nd grade!! And if I hand down even 50% of it to DD#2 I should be set for a LONG time. So maybe I am crazy, but I’ll be laughing all the way to the bank!! Anyway, I thought I might break down my savings that way, just to see what the “other half” pay for this stuff, and as a means to show my family what I actually save. What do you think?

I made trips to two different Old Navy stores over the weekend. If memory serves me, we had 17 items (combination of boys, women’s and men’s) for a total of about $64. Not too bad!!

I apologize if I missed reading this somewhere. But went to Wheaton, 30% off adult clearance only. So called Bloomingdale, Algonquin & Kildeer…confirmed 40% off adult clearance only…All of them stated no additional amount of children. But its seems like most of you got additional discounts off childrens items?
