It has been a very busy day in coupon news. An enormous counterfeit coupon bust took place this morning in Phoenix, with authorities breaking up a multi-million dollar counterfeit coupon fraud ring. This Phoenix news report sums up the day’s events well:

About time!!! This is like shoplifting times 100. What a huge lose to the manufacturers and consumers lose too. Hopefully they can find the source out of the country where these coupons were coming from and others will think before setting up another “home business”. Will TLC people have NO FREE coupons on that ridiculous show that I refuse to watch. Seriously other blogs post places to buy coupons if you do not get them. We get the major paper and all inserts. What is someone supposed to do to get coupons if the coupons are not in their area paper??? Also wondered how someone can get whole inserts and coupons to sell–when we have to buy the paper to get the inserts. Something is wrong there.

Here’s another video from Phoenix’s CBS 5:

What I think is funny is that if you have to purchase a coupon for a “free” product, doesn’t that defeat the point of it being free in the end? People just don’t think sometimes. I’m glad they got caught

I really wonder if they will go after EC and TLC.

Consumers have been alerted. The lamestream media ignores the alerts. They cannot wait to promote EC. Money in their pockets for promoting fraud and pretending they dont know.
We are just those crazy coupon people. No one really pays attention to us nuts. Cuz we are all hoarders and obsessed and all that.
We complain to the FCC about the obvious counterfeits used to “win” a “competition” on All Stars last year and no one does anything. Back in the 50s, fixing a televison game show turned the country upside down, ruined lives, involved Congress. Not now. Just those crazy coupon people. Oh how do they know that. No one cares. Yeah well ya know these shows are all staged anyway. Leave it alone.
As far as the powerful information media outlets are concerned CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT FREAKY EXTREME COUPONING EPISODE!!!!!! Big advertising dollars from KMart, who cannot seem to own their own loyalty card policies or lack thereof. Cuz ya know those coupon people are CRAZY.
I think that every major media outlet should post links and mention on TV the REPEATED warnings from CIC. They are all complicit.

Wow, the 1 night I don’t watch the CBS news! Thanks for letting us know that in the last few months people are finally taking action against the fraudulent coupons. I think I ran across the web site when doing a search once. I don’t purchase coupons so no worries on my end. (I live in AZ)

So if they were using legitimate coupons and counterfeiting those… where were they able to get their hands on so many FREE coupons to counterfeit? I have gotten maybe 2 free coupons from manufacturers this last year. Do the companies outsource the production of their coupons? Would they risk that and is that what explains how so many FREE coupons were in their possesion to be couterfitted?

While a lot of the show’s participants admitted buying coupons on ebay, I have a hunch those selling fake coupons on ebay are also buying from this syndicate to resell @ face value. I find it ludicrous that there are moron buyers who will pay for free coupons @ almost the face value! Are people that ignorant, or shall I say, stupid? The resellers on ebay are making a fast buck on the fake coupons because there are just too many suckers. LOL
