A day before Mickey and Minnie Mouse led the annual Festival Of Lights parade in Chicago, Disney brought lots of Walt Disney World love all the way from Orlando to the Windy City! Disney held a media reception for the new Toy Story Land inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and so much is in store for this new theme park land.
Toy Story Land will open in the summer of 2018. It’s going to significantly expand the size of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and there are quite a few new attractions that promise to be great fun for everyone — little kids and big kids alike:
Andy’s Backyard: Guests will feel as if they’ve been shrunken to the size of a toy when they enter Toy Story Land. The entire area will be filled with Andy’s toys and creations, building blocks and game board pieces.
Slinky Dog Dash: This brand-new family roller coaster will send riders dipping, dodging, and dashing around the land as they ride within the coils of Slinky Dog’s body!
Alien Swirling Saucers: This spinning ride will swirl guests around as the Aliens try to grab guests with “The Claw!”
Woody’s Lunch Box: Toy Story Land will also feature new places to dine, including Woody’s Lunch Box, a quick-service destination for counter-service meals and ice cream floats.
Disney also made this Toy Story Land preview extra-special by bringing Woody, Jessie, and the Green Army Men to Chicago too! It’s truly remarkable how Disney can transform a hotel ballroom into something that feels worlds away by bringing their magic all the way from Florida. I brought my son along to this event, and he had a wonderful time interacting with all of the Toy Story characters.
It’s not every day that you get to build blocks with Jessie! The Green Army Men were hilarious too. They recruited many guests into the Army over the course of the evening, even asking my son to “drop and give me 20!” He dutifully obliged, knocking out his push-ups and earning a spot with the Green Army Men.
What a fun way to spend a chilly Chicago evening — Disney Dreaming! We can’t wait to visit the new Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World once it opens, and we loved getting a little taste of Disney right here in Chicagoland too — what a wonderful holiday treat!

Hopefully they will do several preview days for the season pass holders.
The lines will be insanely long when this opens for weeks if not months.
Schedule those fast passes ASAP.

Oh, this looks like so much fun. Our whole family just loves Toy Story! I wonder if they will have a Pizza Planet to eat at too!
