Have you signed up for Jewel-Osco’s new Gas Rewards program yet? With Gas Rewards, almost every purchase you make at Jewel will earn points toward discounts at participating Shell gas stations.
Each dollar you spend on groceries equals one point. Each dollar you spend at the pharmacy also earns you one point, and each dollar you spend on participating gift cards earns you two points toward savings at the pump! When you reach 100 points, you’ll earn a discount of 10 cents per gallon. Or, continue to let those rewards rack up, and when you reach 200 points, you’ll enjoy 20 cents off each gallon of gas!
If you’re a current MyMixx member, all you have to do is use your registered phone number to start saving and redeeming points with Gas Rewards. If you’re not, signup is easy — just download the Jewel-Osco app or head over to Jewel-Osco.com to register.
The boys and I headed over to Jewel to pick up a few things and see how many Gas Rewards points we could rack up in a quick trip. I don’t know how “quick Jewel trips” are put together in your house, but here’s how it went over here:
Husband: “I feel like having ice cream cones during the Cubs game.”
Me: “I could run over there… meatballs are on sale and I have new coupons.”
Boys: “We want to go too! We can get our free fruit and cookies!”
(They are big fans of Jewel’s Healthy Kids and Cookie Card programs and rarely miss an opportunity to get free snacks!)
So, we headed to the store.
Our Jewel-Osco is in full-on World Series mode with Cubs gear everywhere! This Cubs fan was elated. The boys were pretty excited about the store’s decor as well.
The boys picked out their free fruit, grabbed some cookies from the bakery, and continued to comment on the very positive Cubs vibe throughout the store. This giant Pepsi “W” flag is right in the front of our store!
We picked up our ice cream cones, and I saw that Signature Halloween-themed napkins were also on sale for .79! We added a few packages to our cart. Then, the boys headed to the clearance endcap, where they saw all kinds of candy on clearance.
Now, I love shopping with my children, but this was one of those trips where I found additional items being added to our cart that I didn’t really go into the store for. Clearance Airheads? In the cart. Clearance bubble gum and an enormous bag of Sour Patch Kids? In the cart.
We breezed through the freezer aisle and got meatballs, and we also grabbed a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper — on the day we shopped, the pop was free with Jewel’s Monday Night Squares Facebook game.
I looked at our cart and again reminded myself we’d come to the store for… ice cream cones! My boys were pretty excited about all of their deals though, and I handed over my coupons and paid for our little haul:
I was curious to see if the Gas Rewards would accumulate on a pre-coupon total or the post-coupon total of what we bought in this trip…
My pre-coupon total for this trip was $27.55. After my Jewel-Osco store coupon discounts (the kids’ free fruit and our Dr. Pepper) my pre-manufacturer coupon total was $24.51. I earned 25 cents towards Gas Rewards for this trip.
It seems that the rewards are earned on a post-store-coupon but pre-manufacturer-coupon total — great news for coupon shoppers. It also looks like they round up to the nearest reward, which is a fun little bonus too!
Again, if you’re a current MyMixx member, you’re already registered for Gas Rewards — just remember to enter your MyMixx phone number at checkout. If you’re not currently registered, head over to Jewel-Osco.com to sign up!

I am confused by your receipt. My receipts have points and have to earn 100 points to get 10 cents off–or no reward.
Or am I reading the rules wrong. The rewards also expire. I have been using a gift card which I used up and do not have the receipts, but mine had points at the bottom. I did not see that .25 or anything up higher. I am not sure shopping Jewel I will be able to use any of the points since they expire. Here are part of the rules. Points are earned based on whole dollars spent in eligible purchase transactions; cents are not counted (for example, if you spend $5.75 in a single transaction, you will earn 5 points; 75¢ not counted). For each 100 points earned within one calendar month, you will receive a Gas Reward equal to 10¢ per gallon: 100 points = 10¢ per gallon Gas Reward, 200 points = 20¢ per gallon Gas Reward, etc. No Gas Rewards will accrue to points that do not reach the next $100 dollar threshold, and such points expire at the end of the calendar month in which they are earned. Gas Rewards earned during each month may be used only through the end of the following calendar month (for example, Gas Rewards earned in January expire at the end of February).
