I love featuring photos of my readers’ favorite stock-ups. Here’s CouponKingKevin and his 280 cans of soup!
He and his lovely wife have each been making a trip to Jewel every day after work this week to buy soup for their local food pantry, which has been hit hard lately. They stressed that this was bought at several different stores, 10 cans at a time, and they did not clean out any one store. So many people will be able to eat meals because of their generosity! And it did not cost them a thing. :)

I have to admit this made my eyes teary. Especially, with the way our economy has been hit, I think it is wonderful you have provided us with tools to be able to continue to give to others who are needy even though we may not be so well off.
Thanks again, Jill. And CouponKingKevin – you and your wife ROCK!!

Great job to you! You should be very proud!!!
On a side note, I’d be the dork that accidentally bumped into that.

How do you go about doing this? I understand you buy 10 cans ($1 per) and you get $10 back in cats, but when you go to buy the next 10, you can’t use that catalina or in most cases it doesn’t print for the next batch of 10 you buy. That would then mean you’re continuing to pay $10 each transaction…
Maybe I’ve missed something, but that’s how my Jewel (Npvl) works.
Regardless, GREAT JOB!! And more importantly congrats to your Soup Kitchen.

Thank you to everyone for your great comments. We feel a little like Robin Hood – taking from the rich to feed the poor. The best part is, we aren’t really taking anything at all! We purchased all of it; it just didn’t cost us anything. We never had a problem with the catalina printing. We were able to roll the cats over from one transaction to the next. My wife did 3 back to back transactions on the lane (not self-check) and the checker told her she didn’t have to get back in line, just to separate them with the bars on the belt and she could do them all right there! Our food pantry was SO thankful when I delivered 280 cans of soup, 40 boxes of popcorn, and 20 packages of salsa. They said they need pasta and tuna, so we’re on the look out for deals on that next. All it took was a little of our extra time and patience to do the transactions, and our community will benefit. There is no better feeling. Jill really inspired us to get involved in helping our community and we couldn’t be more grateful to her. Even if you only deliver a few items at a time, you are making a difference.
On a side note, we quickly disassembled the soup tower after the photo. My wife got very tired of steering our cat and dog away from it for fear they would knock it down.

I know the popcorn isn’t on sale right now…does anyone know if it’s coming back, or the soup as well? Thanks!
