Suave issues coupon for a lotion size… that many stores don’t carry?

Here’s an interesting story that came out of our blog Forum this morning…

Reader Rswehrle posted a link to a printable coupon for Suave Lotion. (Suave lotion is on sale at CVS this week, so naturally people are looking for additional discounts.)

However, this coupon excludes Suave lotion “trial, travel sizes and 18oz or larger.” Does Suave even make lotion that is smaller than eighteen ounces, but larger than a trial size? Readers wondered the same thing. Rswehrle made a note to check sizes on a future trip to the store, but I decided to look online at a variety of retailers too:

CVS.com shows three different varieties of Suave lotion for sale, all 18 ounces in size.

Walgreens.com shows four different varieties of Suave lotion for sale, all also 18 ounces in size.

Drugstore.com shows four different varieties of Suave lotion for sale, all also 18 ounces in size.

Target.com shows 13 different varieties of Suave lotion for sale. Eight of them are 18 ounces in size, four are 32 ounces in size, and one tube of Suave Advanced Therapy Lotion is 3 ounces in size.

The 3-ounce tube seems to be a candidate… IF it is not considered a trial or travel size.

But reader Palatino found the 3-ounce Suave lotions listed on ShopRite supermarket’s site as “Trial Size.” I think it’s likely that the 3-ounce Suave indeed is a trial size at Target too, as trial/travel sizes of products need to be 3 ounces or less to comply with FAA regulations. Plus, it’s priced at .99, so it’s likely the size that would be excluded from a $1 coupon.

So… IS there a Suave lotion that’s larger than 3 ounces but smaller than 18 ounces available anywhere? I’m reaching out to Unilever on this one, but if anyone else sees one, please post and let us know. Otherwise, it seems this coupon is for a product that doesn’t exist..!

There is always the possibility that a new size of Suave lotion is coming out soon. But as there don’t seem to be any Suave lotions around that are larger than 3 ounces but smaller than 18, what is this coupon for?

It makes me wonder if this is another one of those Walmart-only odd sizes that Walmart carries, but other stores don’t — a topic worthy of its own post at some point. (Why not just state on the coupon then that that size is available at Walmart?)
