I find this interesting because you have to utilize both Facebook and the Cartwheel app on your phone to receive these discounts. Business Insider is already asking if Cartwheel is too complicated to be embraced by the masses:
Target’s new promotion, dubbed Cartwheel, has one small flaw: It’s incredibly complicated. Here’s how it works.
Go to Facebook. Then search for Target Cartwheel, because it’s on a separate page from Target’s own Facebook page. Once you’ve logged into Cartwheel, you might want to go back to your Facebook privacy settings to prevent the app from automatically posting about everything you’re checking out.
Then, browse the discounted collections on Cartwheel and select the ones you like. (I’m greatly simplifying this process — there’s a whole thing with “collections” and “badges” that Target wants to you to go through.)
After that, get into your car to drive to a Target store. I’m serious, this is how it works. Then find the items in the store and take them to the checkout. At the checkout, call up your Cartwheel page on your phone and tap the “redeem in store” button. That generates a barcode, which is then scanned by the checkout staff.
Hey – you just got 10% off!
What do you think? Will you utilize Target’s Cartwheel?

but I am gonna give it a try. I am all signed up and my offers I picked are loaded, now to just match it up to a good deal. I have some ideas in mine…..just need to try it out.

There is too much poking around and exploring involved to see the deals. Also it will say Hasbro or Mattel, but I like pretty pictures of what is possible like in the ad flyers.
Now is where I go off the rails because I have had too little sleep. If they want to link something through facebook a better bet would be signs in the store to indicate “save 15% off of this with cartwheel”. Then you can whip out your phone and go on and click it. Even better would be an app to just scan the bar code and it would automatically load. I see that as a way I would more likely use it. I will not go on the search for deals. The site is too busy visually. I would go on if I knew of a specific deal I wanted.
I could actually see it creating a bit of a Target cartwheel cult if they tweaked it and tried the cartwheel thing where you could enter the info while shopping. Imagine if they ran some sales that were advertised in store only on the shelf tag, limited in time, and only available to cartwheel users. The information about the sales would spread through Facebook as people stumble upon the sales, buy the items, and it is shared with friends. News of the good sales would spread like coupon information spreads on blogs now. So after I scan a secret sale offer at target my news feed would show my friends I just found a bogo sale on crayons at target. I think that would put a new spin on the fun of finding deals in shopping. Anyway enough creative thinking for today.

Couldn’t get in. Ridiculous error first time out of the gate.
“Our server decided to try and do an actual Cartwheel. Unfortunately, things didn’t go well, and it’s now injured. But never fear, we’ve examined it and expect a full and speedy recovery very soon. In the meantime, why not continue Cartwheeling?”

No, I do not like them to see or use my Facebook account, so I will not

If your printing the bar code at home and give the lovely cashier your code to scan they have to keep it to show that they have scanned that coupon. That is the explanation my cashier gave me. Also the bar code does not change i you add more stuff, but if you ad more stuff you have to reprint the bar code showing all the items (i guess it all depends on your cashier and how nice they are and knowledgeable of coupon policies and target promo). The thing that i don’t know is if you reuse the same bar code and its not on the list will it still generate? I also saw online that you can use it more then once. Example you have 10% off flip flops and you buy 4 you get 10% off each of the 4 if the limit is 4 on that item. I honetly tried it and it worked for me. I had to educate the cashier on coupon policy and cartwheel when she tied to get snappy and didn’t want to take my coupons. After the mini course she scanned everything no problem. I was going to take out my phone and show her the policy and she worked in customer service can you believe that. anyway just got off topic but it worked for me. Something my aunt old me everything cost. But us couponers know it doesn’t have to cost full retail lol
