If you shop at Dominick’s, there are two major coupon-policy changes that took place late last week. You can no longer stack ecoupons with manufacturer coupons at Dominick’s. If you try to stack an ecoupon with a manufacturer coupon on the same item, the manufacturer coupon beeps and is not accepted by the register. And, Catalinas for money off your next order with another store’s logo on them are no longer accepted. Under the new policy, a Jewel Catalina for $1 off Cascade (or any specific product) will be accepted at Dominick’s, but a Walgreens Register Reward for $10 off your next shopping trip will NOT be.
Clearly, disallowing the stacking of ecoupons is a disappointment, especially considering the last Dominick’s coupon policy revision clearly outlined that shoppers could stack manufacturer and ecoupons together. And, obviously, it affects the way that I’ll be writing Dominick’s weekly deals from this point forward for you too.
A few days ago I went to the store to try things out, and indeed, if you have an ecoupon loaded for a product, a manufacturer coupon for the same products beeps and does not scan; so the policy is already in effect. As for the policy revision on Catalinas, Dominick’s has long waffled on how to handle money-off-your-next-order Catalinas from other stores. Again, it’s disappointing to see this change, but in deciding to no longer accept these, Dominick’s has also chosen to send shoppers with manufacturer, on-your-next-order Catalinas to their biggest competitor, Jewel, where those kinds of Catalinas are readily accepted. (In the current economy, does ANY store want to deliberately be sending business to a competitor, especially over coupons that they would ultimately receive reimbursement for? Jewel will only benefit from this policy change.)
For my out-of-state readers, the no-ecoupon-stacking policy currently has only been put into effect in Hawaii and Illinois Safeway-owned stores.

How are we suppose to use man. coupons instead of ecoupons? Some of my man. coupons are worth more then ecoupons ! I wish we could go back and undo all the ecoupons that were small in $ amounts . Are you saying we have to wait until ecoupon Exp. and not click on them so fast anymore . No its making it a more complacated way to play by their rules, Wish Jewel took exp. coupons and we all could just say GOOD BYE DOMINICKS

And I was looking forward to the re-opening of the Dominick’s by me……not anymore I guess :(

The great sales lately was Dom’s way of getting us back into the store, and then once again, with these changes, shooting us down again. I find this move very typical for Dom’s and I’m not suprised by it, not one bit. They asked up for our opinion on how to get us back in the store and then made a coupon policy that was bascially a slap in the face to us. Why do we even keep giving Dom’s the chance to keep pushing us down? We don’t allow people to treat us like that, yet we will allow big business America to? Well I for one won’t. Go ahead Dom’s. Keep it up. Pretty soon, no one will care if you’re around or not. Well, except maybe the employees.
I watched a cashier today so afraid to take coupons from a shopper, he actually had to call TWO people over to help him. Said he’s been written up for coupon mis-use and he can’t take that chance again – and he’s been there for years. How sad.

I think Dominick’s is going to lose a lot of business if they no longer take manufacturer coupon Catalinas from other stores.
I am probably one of the few people on this blog that actually prefers Dominick’s to Jewel, but this is going to make a big difference. Today I opted to go to Jewel rather than Dominick’s, just because I could use all of my Dominick’s, Jewel, and Walgreens manufacturer coupon Catalinas towards my entire purchase. (This was even though the Jewel store was farther away for me and had less things I wanted on sale this week.)

Jill- Was Dominicks only getting reimbursed for one coupon when both the e-coupons and a paper coupon was used for the same item? If that is the case, it does make sense that they will take one or the other only.
In regards to the catalina- This change does not make sense to me especially if they are reimbursed like any other coupon.

…but more expensive. Since e-coupons were only good at Dominicks, I can pretty much just forget updating the sites and do the old-fashion paper coupons since most of them were higher valued anyway.
The offerings on e-coupons really didn’t vary much and most of the stuff I used to purchase for the food pantry since my family doesn’t use these items….it’s the food pantry that will suffer.

if you go through the self checkout, scan all your items, have them scan your coupons, and then swipe your card? Anybody try this?

Not sure when the actual change over is taking place, but on Saturday, 9/18, I bought the Tide stain release which was on sale. My $3.00 e coupon came off, and I was able to use a $3.00 paper coupon with no beeps. Maybe I was just lucky, but it worked okay for me.

Will Dom’s still take expired coupons?

I FINALLY took the drive last week (20 min. from my home Jewel store) to go to Dominicks and look around….I guess I won’t need the new fresh values card I signed up for after all. Too bad…

Funny way to celebrate.

I am really sad that they won’t take RRs and Jewel cats anymore. I never used to let them expire but recently Doms was having some good sales to use them on so I didn’t bother running to Jewel to use up my expiring RRs. Right now I have $14 in Wags RRs that are expired and thats a lot less than I had a few days ago, thank goodness. I went ahead and burned some up on the Scrubbing Bubbles deal just in case Doms decided to do this, guess I had a feeling it was coming.
So I guess I’ll be heading to Jewel with my Wags RRs instead. The e-coupon policy change is bad too but like a lot of you have mentioned, I didn’t really need or want most of that stuff, so not a big loss.
Doms, if you’re reading this, you need to knock it off with the new changes. We were all pretty happy with the coupon policy you had a few weeks ago. You would be wise to get it back to that.

No more shopping at Dominick’s for me. With this new policy change, it just isn’t worth it. Too bad because I was starting to shop there more often. Now I will NEVER go back. Hello JEWEL!!!!!!!!!! Now I can dump all of my expired coupons as I won’t be needing them anymore.

A cashier at the Dominicks in Western Springs told me that the store was holding an “inservice”, my words, not theirs, on how the new program would work this coming Thursday. She told me that there would be people there to show how it works and to answer questions. It’ll be interesting to hear their spin on it. I like to shop at this Dominicks but I like saving money more.

The part about not accepting OYNO Catalinas from other stores has been in the Safeway policy for a while, but most Dominick’s haven’t enforced it. I did use RR at my own store yesterday with no problem.

Perhaps Doms was just ahead of the curve on the no stacking rule. Just read on dealseekingmom.com that Kroger has now revised their ecoupon policy to no longer allow stacking.

The problem with Dominick’s coupon policy is that there are a lot of stores that still seem to rely on their “secret” coupon policy. You never know when it will be enforced and it can throw your whole trip off. You know the one that reads:
Dominick’s may or may not, happily or unhappily accept your coupons under the following conditions:
Your coupon may or may not need to be presented prior to, within 6 months of, or within 1 year of its expiration date.
Your coupon may or may not be printed from the internet
Your coupon may or may not be for 50% of an items value
Your coupon may or may not contain another retailers logo, and may or may not need to be for a specific item
Your coupon may or may not be printed backwards, upside down or in black and white ink
Your coupon may or may not be valid for items stocked days, weeks or months beyond its expiration date
Dominick’s reserves the right to permit its employees to limit coupon use under the following conditions:
You did or did not eat your Wheaties this morning
The moon is or is not full
The planets are or are not aligned
Your cashier does or does not like you
Your cashier may or may not know the difference between a “purchase” and a “transaction”
Your cashier may or may not feel that you should get an item for free
Your cashier may or may not use the phrase “You People” when addressing you
Your cashier may or may not believe that the coupon’s value will be deducted from their paycheck
Dominick’s reserves the right to change this policy, or any portion thereof, at any time including while you are in the checkout lane or even by the time you finish reading this.
