If you’re interested in picking up some Nature Valley granola bars this week at Walgreens, you might want to do that sooner than later… there’s a wild triple-dip going on!
As written in this week’s Deals, Walgreens is running a sale on “Breakfast Favorites.” Buy four or more for $2 each and get 1000 Balance Rewards points! Nature Valley Granola Bars are $2 per box if you buy two or more. There’s a .50 off 2 coupon in the 1/6 SS2, or use printables.
Nature Valley Granola Bars are part of a national Catalina too: Buy three boxes and get $1; Buy four and get $2, and buy five or more, get a $3 Catalina. Buying four with two .50 coupons will cost you $7, and you’ll get 1000 points ($1) AND $2 back, making them $4 for four, or $1 per box. Buying 5 with two coupons will cost you $9, and you’ll get 1000 points AND $3 back, making these $5 for five, or again, $1 each.
Here’s where the deal becomes a triple-dip. ANOTHER set of Catalinas is printing on the Nature Valley too! (In the past when this has happened, we never know if it’s accidental or intentional, though Walgreens sometimes changes things a day or two into the sale so that only one set of Catalinas prints.)
So, if you buy three, you get a $1 Catalina AND a $1 Register Reward. Buy four, get $2 and $2. And buy five, get $3 and $3! AND, you get 1000 Balance Rewards points too!
I just got back from Walgreens about ten minutes ago, and I was delighted to get back double the Catalinas that I was expecting! So, buying 5 boxes costs $10. With two .50-off-2 coupons, pay $9 and get $3 and $3 back, plus 1000 Balance Rewards points (another $1!) That’s $2 for FIVE boxes, or about .40 per box!
A nice way to use up those Catalinas too is to roll them into the Softsoap refill deal at Walgreens too. The 56-ounce (big!) Softsoap refills are on sale Buy One Get One Free this week. At my Huntley Walgreens, these are priced at $7.49. Buying two for $7.49 is about $3.75 each. With two .50 coupons from the 1/20 SS, pay $6.49 for two, or about $3.25 each!
Walgreens’ registers won’t allow you to use more manufacturer coupons than you have items though, so if you want to use your $3 Catalinas AND the .50 Softsoap coupon in the next transaction, you’ll need to find a cheap, small “filler” item so that you have four items and four coupons. I found some kids’ activity books on clearance for .49 each and grabbed two. Here was my second transaction:
Two Softsoap 56oz. refills: $7.49
Two kids’ activity books: .98
Total: $8.47
Minus two .50 Softsoap coupons: $7.47
Minus two $3 Catalinas: $1.47
I paid $1.47 plus tax, picking up the soap at a great price and getting rid of my Catalinas. Deal!
