Can we use the following coupon on this deal?
07-13 SS, Aug 23, Arm & Hammer Liquid, Powder or Single Use Laundry Detergents, $2.00 /2
Will Walgreens let us use a coupon on a free item? Would we buy 6 and use three coupons or buy 6 and only use 1 coupon?

Even though my pre-tax total was above my coupon total, the register wouldn’t take my Register Rewards with my other coupon. I miss the old days, where if you were short you could fill in with a cheap item. So I ended up getting Almay, Tampons, & the Clearasil all at once, and presenting the coupons in the order to use them, which I found out that the registers aren’t programmed to match the coupon with the item it’s for 100% of the time. The registers go by amount of an item & amount of each coupon. So I was worried about a beep my 2nd attempt. I was even going to fill in with a cheap back-to-school item, but that seems like that won’t work any more after what I experienced last night.
As a side note, I was at Walgreens about 10:30pm. I watched Summerslam which ended about 10pm and had a few Register Rewards that were about to expire in 90 minutes at the point. School must start today (Monday AM 8/18) in my area, because I saw so many families up there buying last minute school supplies. YES, at 1030pm! I just felt horrible for some of those kids. This Walgreens didn’t have everything in stock. These kids should be getting a proper nights sleep for their first day, not worrying about getting supplies. One family was in front of me and the girl needed a binder. Walgreens had only two left. Both binders were damaged. So they bought the least damaged of the two. I just felt so bad for that girl. I don’t know what that family’s personal situation was (time, financially, or something else), but preparing a child for school is very important, and setting and example for the daughter by going out late, last minute, and getting sub-par supplies is a HORRIBLE example and the child might learn and inherit bad habits. I’m not a teacher, but I do go into schools and teach Junior Achievement several times each year. I usually go into a classroom and see what the kids need, then on my next visit a week later, bring a bunch of supplies that they need and get it from my personal stock pile or what we have in the office at work. And most of the time, they really need new pens & pencils! Only after a few weeks, some kids are in need of replacements. And sadly, many struggle with broken ones.
Sorry if this got off my coupon policy subject, but this just bothered me last night. And I’m guessing the parents won’t be getting that girl a replacement binder any time soon from what it looked like.
So with the new coupon policy I was wondering, if I checkout with $3.00+ of items where none of the items are priced $3.00 or over and I try to use a $3.00 Register Rewards, the register won’t take the $3 register rewards any more? If this is the case, this is just BAD!
I’m preferring other places to shop vs. Walgreens with all these coupon policy changes.

It’s been going on awhile, but worth another mention. This promotion has only 2 weeks left (08/31/2014). Text ‘beauty1’ to 21525 and receive a coupon for a FREE Travel Brush Set with any $20 beauty purchase. I just got another catalina on it last night.

I was going to use my 20% coupon for Walgreens for milk, which I was almost out of, and somebody at MUM pointed out that you could not use the coupon on dairy. I was going right past a Walgreens anyway, and when I walked in I noticed that milk was $3.69. I never spend that much, but I needed milk. When I got to the checkout line and scanned my rewards card. The cashier told me that I owed her $2.55. She said milk was on sale this week. There was not sign in the store, and it was not in the sale flyer. Milk is up to $2.99 at Jewel now for the store brand.

Is anyone having troubles using their Register Rewards at Walgreens? I was at the Walgreens in Algonquin on Square Bard Road this morning and they would not let me use my Register Rewards (the computer would not take it, my whole shopping trip total was around $30.00). They told me that on this past Monday they started following a new policy. I tried using a $2.00 reward that I earned on my last shopping trip. They would not take the RR because I was not buying any items that was $2.00 or over that I was not already using a manufacturers coupon on. So they explained to use the reward I would have to make a purchase that has at least one item that is $2.00 or more that does not have a coupon being used on it. I hope that makes sense. If this is the new policy it is going to make it hard to use the rewards. Has this happened to anyone else?
