Walgreens launches load-to-card ecoupons

Reader Sjw1314 discovered today that you can load manufacturer ecoupons to your Walgreens Balance Reward card account on Walgreens.com at this link:

These appear to the same coupons you can print at Coupons.com, and it looks like you will only get one usage per load versus two if you print them.

Still, if you’re in the store and forget to bring a coupon, you could load them via your smartphone and redeem at checkout, which is nice to know.

  1. I did this the other day, and it worked! There was a Walgreens ad coupon for up to 4 Condensed Campbell’s soups for .75 each. I happened to see the paperless coupon option on the site and added a .40 off 3 coupon to my card. I brought a paper copy since I didn’t trust it, but didn’t need to use it! I bought 3 cans for .75 each and saved an additional .40. I was able to use the paper coupon at another local store that had Campbells Condensed Chicken Noodle on sale for .49 (limit 3) and got an additional .40 off those too (I love SuperFresh in Waukegan :)! It was funny b/c the Walgreens cashier saw the coupon pop up and was confused. I explained that the site offered paperless coupons and I had added it to my card before coming, not sure how it would work. She thought it was cool and said she’d never seen that before. Walgreens should pay us for educating their employees ;).

  2. ecoupons can be loaded at a time. It gave a warning when I only had 10 left to go, and counted down when I had 1 left and I got this message: Heads up! You can only clip 1 more coupon to your card.

    And this message after clipping 100: You’ve clipped the maximum number of coupons. Please redeem or unclip some coupons.

  3. So, if they can load manuf. coupons to your Balance Rewards card, why not SS offers as well? I have always wondered why Walgreens does not participate in Saving Star like Kroger and Jewel do.
