Sometimes when I’m booking new Super-Couponing classes, the organization hosting the class will ask what kind of demographic they can expect to attend. I truthfully tell them to expect… everyone! My classes have attracted people in their teens through their eighties, with an impressive number of men as well as women. Who doesn’t love saving money?
This week I received a great email from a blog reader that I’d like to share with you guys. Dave in Chicago writes…
Hey Jill! I’ve been having such a great time shopping these past few days. I thought I would tell you about it. First off, I’m probably not the demographic you’re used to hearing from. I’m a 26 year old male who has been checking your website for quite a while now. I have gotten used to checking and saving the weekly Chicago Tribune inserts, and even got a subscription to All You (I’m probably the only male on their subscription list, ha ha). But it wasn’t until this weekend that I got my first “wow” moment. It was, of course, at the AMAZING Kellogg’s Jewel sale this past week. Using some printed coupons, along with a couple manufacturer’s coupons I had, I ended up with the following:
11 large boxes of cereal
10 boxes of Rice Krispies Treats
10 boxes of Special K Bars
5 boxes of Nutrigrain Bars
8 boxes of Pop-Tarts
1 bottle of Diet Dr. PepperI actually ended up doing the deal in multiple waves because I noticed that some of the cereal boxes included $5 worth of manufacturer’s coupons inside! Some of these coupons included Pop-Tarts, cereal, and Nutri-Grain Bars. So I was able to go back and use those for the next time around. Combine that with the $10 Catalina deal with the Dr. Pepper bottle, AND the $10 mail in rebate deal when you buy 10 items, and I estimate that I paid less than $25 combined for all 45 of these items. I have attached a picture to show you my proud take from the week.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for your great site that is saving me so much money! If only I had know about this stuff while I was in college….I might have been able to eat something other than Ramen Noodles!
Love it! And, for the record, I know for a fact that Dave is NOT the only single guy currently subscribing to All You magazine..!

What a great advertisement for your class :-) And true, so many saying they eat Ramen through college-of they only knew.
I had already discovered the blogs when you came along a few months later and totally changed my shopping habits. Any time the news mentions the rising cost of food I just sit back and smile.

His future spouse is SOOO lucky! :)
I think it’s great when men catch on to couponing. I finally after almost a year have convinced my husband that this really is better than the old way of shopping. And he even tells me when he’s getting low on something so I can watch for deals!
