Each week’s Deals in the Wild post will be a place for both me, and you, to share any interesting deals we find in the current week, whether they’re online or in stores.
As we’re still housebound due to the Corona virus, our family has been building a puzzle together. While we made many puzzles when our children were little, we’ve never tackled a large puzzle with the kids until now. (Why not?! I’m not sure, honestly. Our schedules tend to be pretty busy when everyone is in school and working full-time.)
Some time ago, my mom gave us a 1000-piece puzzle featuring vintage Coca-Cola advertising. When life was busier, I put it on the closet shelf for “another time.”
Last week, I brought the card table out, dumped the Coke puzzle out, and left it in the living room. “Another time” is now!
Every day, different family members sat down, either alone or together, and work on the puzzle. For days we complained that we could not find part of the Coke delivery man’s pants. Nobody wanted to touch the skyline in the background of the puzzle (“all that sky area is going to take forever!”)
However, the puzzle table has become the magnet of our living room! We’re nearing the final third of the puzzle now, and we’re already talking about choosing another one to work on together. As no one plans to go to the store for a puzzle, I started browsing puzzles on Amazon with my son to look at potential new projects.
I was not entirely surprised to find that there are many large, 1000+ piece puzzle designs completely sold-out on Amazon right now, as well as many that won’t be back in stock until May. (Apparently many people are working on puzzles right now!) However, there are still some in stock that you can order & receive in the next few days — at least, at the time of this writing. All of these are in the $13 to $25 price range, such as…
- Beach Lighthouse
- Farm Country
- Colorful Coral
- Scenic Greece
- Night sky with astrological star signs
- Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Saguaro Forms and Cactus Flowers”
- Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss”
- Alma Thomas’ “The Eclipse”
- Antique World Map
- Underwater Dogs
- Pooping Chihuahua (yes… really)
If 1000-piece puzzles aren’t challenging enough, I spotted some other interesting ones on Amazon:
- White Hell and Black Hell – 1000 solid white or black pieces with no design at all.
- World’s Smallest 1000 piece landmark puzzles – they’re all 6″ x 3″ completed! Compared to the 24″ x 16″ 1000-piecer we’re working on now, that’s really tiny!
If budget, time, and physical space are no object at all, check these out:
- 40,320-piece Memorable Disney Moments and 40,320-piece Mickey Through The Years – these are the largest Disney puzzles in the world and measure 22′ x 6′ completed.
- 51,300-piece Kodak Wonders Of The World – the largest puzzle currently made – 28.5′ x 6.25′ completed!
Just as I was writing this post, my son and husband made some major progress on our Coke puzzle, so after I wrote this post, I ordered the Frank Lloyd Wright puzzle for us to work on next, as I’m pretty sure we will be home for a few more weeks.
Have you spotted any good deals in the wild this week? Feel free to post them below! If your deal includes photos, feel free to email them to me at jill@supercouponing.com, and I’ll add them to your comment.

Nice! We love puzzles. I just completed a 3000 pc puzzle earlier this week (https://www.ravensburger.us/products/jigsaw-puzzles/adult-puzzles/african-animal-world-17037/index.html) that we did for the first time several years ago. Good thing we have a ping pong table to spread out on! No one else was interested in doing it with me this time, though, and I’m not sure I’ll be too motivated to pull this one out again!

Sorry, I wasn’t really sharing any “deals in the wild”, just commenting as a puzzle enthusiast!

No problem – that looks like a really nice (large!) puzzle!
I’m happy to have the comments turning to “how are you passing the time?” I have also painted two rooms of our house over the past week! We are definitely getting a lot of things done around the house :)

We finished our Coke puzzle today too!

Well, our Frank Lloyd Wright cactus puzzle has been delayed by Amazon – I know a lot of categories of items are being deemed “non-essential” right now. So, two days ago I ordered another puzzle from them (Colorful Coral) thinking maybe one of them would arrive before the end of the month. Strangely, the coral puzzle showed up today, and it was ordered days after the Wright puzzle. Well, we now have another big puzzle to do! After wiping the boxes down in the garage with disinfectant (both the Amazon box and the puzzle box itself — nothing comes inside the house now unless it’s been disinfected) my son opened it up and got right to building the new one :)

Nice job on the puzzle! We also painted a room. Great minds think alike!

We always had a puzzle under our tablecloth at the kitchen table growing up! My niece with special needs is a puzzle master and spends a lot of time with us so we’ve continued the tradition.
They aren’t always the best pictures but Walgreens has a variety box of puzzles near the toys ( i think 500 piece ones) for under $10.

Maggie, Walgreens is a great idea – I wouldn’t have thought of that! It looks like they are in-store only, but if anyone is already there picking things up, what a great thing to add to the cart.

I’m late posting here, but wanted to chime in on the puzzle mania! I have been doing and sharing puzzles with my neighbors for a few months now and wanted to share Big Lots is a place I have found nice ones. They are only $6 and you have to go in the store to buy them but they emailed me several $5/$15 coupons I have used to pick up some cheap ones!
My largest puzzle so far has been 1000 pieces but I have done as small as a 100 piece one from Dollar Tree even! I saw they finally got them back into stock and there was a 500 mini puzzle as well. It looks very hard! My neighbor loaned me her 2000 piece of a wolves nature scene and I gave up after only several days! Mostly because I had nowhere to lay it all out and do it! It took up our entire kitchen table! So….silly me decided to attempt another of her 2000 pieces because this time I have a huge double wide card table set up in the bedroom right under the fan and the tv is in view as well! I did a beautiful 1000 piece cabin by the lake scene and my neighbor (one who loaned me said table) loved it so much she glued/framed it!!!
This new 2000 piece is a few inches too big for the table…..so I am currently looking for a board to place atop table so I can actually do it properly! I am taking my time with this one and plan on working for a week or more.
I just wanted to share a FREE puzzle option I just sent away for is on that Jolly Time site where you send in UPCs and no shipping even. They now offer a 200 piece puzzle for only 6 UPCs! My Kroger actually has Jolly Time 99c in their mega sale (Mariano’s may as well?) Plus I used coupons from the site I printed for cheap popcorn and a free puzzle to boot! Yes, it will be a breeze compared to this 2000, as it is 1/10th the size….but I love doing any and all puzzles right now!

Ooh, thanks for the tip on the Jolly Time puzzle. Free puzzles are always good! :)

I got my FREE Jolly Time puzzle today in the mail! It came in a bag (postage mark said $4.70!) and they included a 25c coupon as well. I think it looks nice but have not opened up yet and started. I bet your kids would like it too. I still cannot believe they paid that much to send that to me and all I had to do was send in the UPC’s!? I just bought 6 more boxes of popcorn in Kroger mega sale. Only 49c a box after their printable coupon! I keep asking my husband if the puzzle was here yet….and today he brought it in with the mail! and then a few minutes later I heard him popping some popcorn!!! :>)

Ha! Thank you for mentioning the puzzle – that’s a great idea, and yes, whatever they’re mailing out at a “loss” are still promotional items that keep their brand in front of you in a fun way. :) I’ve gotten their reusable bags (heavyweight and nice) and a workout resistance band.
