Hello, Super-Couponers! What a fantastic week of sales! Jewel and Dominick’s are dueling it out to see who can run the most Catalina/Instant Savings sales this week, which equals great shopping opportunities all over town no matter where you go. Dominick’s, in particular, will shock you with how many products in their “Buy 4” sale are NOT in this week’s ad… but instead of getting to the store and wishing you’d known they were on sale too, you’ll get a full list of items and prices before you go… right here! (I do the hard work so that you don’t have to!) And, if you like shopping for FREE things too (and who doesn’t?) this week will also not disappoint.
I also spent most of last week in Atlanta at an industry coupon conference, and over the next few days I’ll be writing about some topics that are likely to interest to you. There’s a lot going on in “coupon world,” and I learned a great deal about current trends and practices in the industry and where the future of coupons is headed. Stay tuned for that later in the week though, because…
It’s time for Deals of the Week once again. I’ve got all the best supermarket and drugstore deals of the week written just for you… all in one place, on one page! As always, grab your scissors and coupon inserts, and get ready to start clipping this week, as bunches of bargains and freebies are heading your way!

- The Hilander deals may be applicable at Kroger, Ralph’s, Fred Meyer, Dillon’s, City Market, King Soopers, and other Kroger-owned stores
The Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally.

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

The Skinny Cow sandwiches and bars have a regular price of $6.49, so buying two will put you over the $12 mark. With two $1 coupons, pay $6 and get a $4 Catalina — it works out to $2 for two, or just $1 per package! YUM!
“Spend $30, get $10” Baby Catalina offer PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS OFFER DOES NOT BEGIN UNTIL TUESDAY 4/19! I am posting this today to give you time to prepare for what may be a FANTASTIC double-dip on Pampers diapers and wipes for Tuesday, 4/19 and Wednesday, 4/20 ONLY… Spending $30 on the following baby items will generate a $10 Catalina. Here are your products and matchups. (UPC list is here.) Prices were collected at the Huntley, Illinois Jewel-Osco on 4/17/11. Baby Basics Club Boxes (Jewel house brand of diapers) – $15.99 Gerber Baby Foods Gerber Graduates Meals – $2.19 Gerber Puffs – $2.19 (price goes up to $2.39 on April 21.) POSSIBLE great diaper deal? Jewel is currently running a “Buy $20, Get $5 Catalina” on Pampers Diapers and Wipes through 4/20 (in the Thursday ad.) But, on 4/19, a new “Buy $30, get $10 Catalina” baby deal begins, which also includes Pampers diapers and wipes.
IF both are active on 4/19-4/20, buying $30 worth of selected Pampers would generate a $5 and a $10 Catalina. My ONLY concern with this is that the original alerts for the Pampers $20/$5 had the end date listed as 4/18, but the Thursday Jewel ad shows it running through 4/20. We won’t know until someone tries… stay tuned.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
1lb. packages of Jewel Butter Quarters are $1.99, limit 2 – GREAT price, and we haven’t seen butter this cheap in awhile. (Through 4/24/11.)
Gallon jugs of Shoppers Value Milk are $1.99 each, limit 2.
4lb. bags of Jewel Granulated Sugar are $1.99.
8oz. bars of Jewel Cream Cheese are .99.
Jewel Brown N’ Serve rolls (11oz., 12ct.) are .99 a package.
Jewel Gravy (12oz.) is .99 a jar.
Jewel margarine quarters (16oz.) are .99.
Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix (8.5oz.) is .50.
Minute Maid orange juice 64oz. cartons are $2.49 each.
Jewel-Osco information:
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there.
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too.
Coupon books currently found at Jewel:
Fresh & Fun Celebration – Small book with coupons for $2 off any 1lb. or larger Stockman & Dakota Premium Angus Beef package; $2 off any 1 to 2lb. bag of Arctic Shores shrimp, and $2 off any Hormel Party Tray (all expire 7/15/11.)
Smart Easy Spring Cleaning – Coupons for SC Johnson cleaning products (Windex, Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles.)
Jewel meat deals:
- There is a coupon on the front of Jewel’s Sunday ad for $9 off any brand Spiral, Shank, or Butt portion ham with coupon and a separate $20 purchase. Easiest ham deal? Buy the SMALLEST ham priced closest to $9 as you can, and pay as little as possible! Example – a $10.49 ham would be just $1.49 after coupon. If you don’t need a big ham for Easter, buy a smaller one to freeze. (The Dominick’s ad for this week has a $10 ham coupon with a $20 store purchase too.) I picked up a $12.82 ham for $3.82 with this coupon! (And then I went to Dominick’s and got another one..!)
- Jewel chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.49/lb.
- Hormel Always Tender Country Style Ribs are $1.99/lb. There’s a $1 coupon for Hormel Always Tender in the 2/13 SS that expires TODAY, April 18!
- Jewel boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.
- Jewel Italian Sausage or Bratwurst is $1.99/lb.
- Jennie-O frozen turkey breast is $1.99/lb.
- Aaron’s Kosher frozen turkeys are $1.99/lb.
- Leg of lamb is $4.99/lb. – still pricey, but a fair price for lamb, which doesn’t often go on sale
- Always a deal: Jewel-Osco has 1lb. chub packs of Carolina Ground Turkey in the freezer case for around $1.69, every day, at most locations.
Jewel produce deals:
- Sweet potatoes are .79/lb.
- Green beans are .99/lb.
- Broccoli crowns or cauliflower are $1.29/lb.
- Yellow squash or zucchini are $1.29/lb.
- Tomatoes on the vine are $1.49/lb.
- 16oz. bags of Glory Greens are $1.49
- 1lb. bags of brussels sprouts are $1.99.
- 1lb. containers of strawberries are $1.99.
- Whole pineapples are $1.99 each – GREAT price!
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also now load these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?
In the April 14-April 20 flyer – “Great Prices!” on cover:
- Hot or Lean Pockets (6.5-9oz.) are on sale for $1.79, limit 4, with Super Coupon. Buy two Lean Pockets and use this $1.25-off-2 manufacturer coupon printable (from Target’s site) and pay $2.33 for two, or $1.17 each. There’s also a $1-off-3 coupon in the Dominick’s Frozen Food coupon book (in-stores) and a $1.50-off-3 Facebook printable.
- Florida’s Natural and Minute Maid orange juice (59-64oz.) are $2.49 each, limit 4, with Super Coupon.
In the April 17-April 24 flyer – “Low Prices on Everything for Easter” on cover:
- Johnsonville Breakfast Sausage (12oz. links or patties) are $2.49 each, limit 5, with Super Coupon. Use the $1-off-2 coupon from 4/17 SS1, buy two and pay $1.99 per package!
- Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies are $1.99 a bag, limit 2, with Super Coupon. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from 2/13 SS. You’ll pay $2.98 for two, or $1.49 each…
- Safeway Aseptic Chicken or Beef Broth (32oz.) is .99, limit 6, with Super Coupon – great price. (“Aseptic” means sterilized in a way that does not require refrigeration…)
- Quaker Chewy Granola Bars are $1.77 a box, limit 4, with Super Coupon. Buy two and use the .75-off-2 coupon from 3/13 RP. You’ll pay $2.79 for two, or about $1.40 a box. Look for $1-off-2 peelies on the boxes too — I was pleasantly surprised to find those at my Dominick’s, as it made the deal even better…
This week, Dominick’s is running “Hoppin’ Daily Deals” – one-day deals on a specific item. This week…
Monday, April 18: 12-roll packs of Cottonelle Bath Tissue or 6-roll packs of Brawny paper towels are $4.88 each. Use the .50 coupons for both from 3/13 RP and pay $4.38. There’s also a .50 printable for the Cottonelle.
Tuesday, April 19: Ghirardelli Baking Morsels (10-11oz.) are $1.59 a bag, limit 2.
Wednesday, April 20: 4lb. bags of Safeway Granulated Sugar are $1.59 each – super price.
Just For U ecoupons on Dominicks.com worth checking out: Prego Pasta Sauce (23.5-24oz.) jars are $1.19 each, limit 2, and Nancy Martin 16oz. loaves of white or wheat bread are .59, limit 1.
Also, look through your offers for any FREE products. Over the past few weeks, many readers (and myself!) have found ecoupons for random free products in Just For U. There doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to what appears. This week, I have an ecoupon for a free 5.3oz. Dannon Greek Yogurt, AND an ecoupon for a free 12.5oz. can of Valley Fresh Canned Chicken White Breast Meat. (I have never bought this product in my life!) Another reader got a free Eating Right food item. Check those ecoupons!
B1G1F Deals! Both Oscar Mayer Bacon and Kraft shredded cheeses are on sale Buy One, Get One Free this week at Dominick’s. If you have lower “personalized prices” in your Just For U ecoupons, you can score some GREAT deals – readers are reporting some good buys. One said “Oscar Mayer is $3.88 a pack in Just FU– $1.94 each with the BOGO.” Another writes “$1.90 Kraft Cheese in JFU, and it’s B1G1F, so .95 a package!” Check your Just For U…
Little card deal: Dominick’s is offering $2 off your shopping trip (I’m assuming this is an instant-savings) when you buy 3 Hallmark cards. .99 cards are excluded from this particular offer, as are boxed cards. The offer is also limit 1 per transaction.
Itunes gift card deal: Dominick’s is selling the $60 iTunes gift card pack (four $15 gift cards) for $50. (Good price for teen Easter Basket stuffers…. or to have on hand for those parties your teen seems to get invited to, then remember to tell you about at the last minute. Can you tell I have a teenager in the house? :)
“Buy 4, Save $4” instant-savings cereal and breakfast sale! Prices shown are AFTER $4 instant savings. You must buy in quantities of 4 to receive these prices. There are a LOT of other products included in this deal that are NOT in this week’s flyer! Product list and prices were collected at the Carpentersville, Illinois Dominick’s on 4/17/11. AND.. if you’re a rebater, and you’re buying at least 10 boxes of cereal this week, you will want to check out this $10 Kellogg’s mail-in rebate on SELECTED varieties of Kellogg’s cereal. My beautiful sister Lynn made a quick list of the cereals that double-dip both the sale and the rebate:
Corn Flakes
Crispix
Raisin Bran
Rice Krispies
You don’t even need a receipt – mail in 10 UPCs and get a $10 prepaid debit card. Better yet? You can submit up to FIVE rebates per household.
With most of the Kellogg’s coming out at $1.49 a box after coupons, sending 10 UPCs in for a $10 rebate will knock it to .49 a box – a nice price.
“Buy 2, Get 1 Free” Bright Green Products Sale Bright Green is Dominick’s house brand of environmentally-friendly products. We typically only see this sale once a year, so if you like any of these items, many of which are dye and fragrance-free, this is a great opportunity to stock up. The ad says this sale ends 4/20, but shelf tags state that the sale runs through 4/27. Here are your products and prices. Prices were gathered at the Carpentersville, Illinois store on 4/17/11. Bright Green All Purpose Dilutable Cleaner 32oz. – $3 Bright Green All Purpose Lemon Spray Cleaner 32oz. – $3 Bright Green Bathroom Tissue – 6 rolls – $3.99 Bright Green Bathroom Spray Cleaner – $2.99 Bright Green Chlorine-free Color-Safe Bleach – $1.99 Bright Green Dishwasher Detergent Packs 60ct. – $11.89 Bright Green Dishwasher Rinse Aid (16oz.) – $6.99 Bright Green Dishwashing Liquid – 24oz. – $2.99 Bright Green Fabric Softener (plant-based, lavender) – $4.99 Bright Green Glass Cleaner 32oz. – $3 Bright Green Napkins 200ct. – $1.99 Bright Green Non-Aerosol Furniture Polish – $3.50 Bright Green 45ct. Kitchen Trash Bags – $6.29 Bright Green Laundry Detergent – 52-load – $9.99 (150oz. bottle, $13.99) Bright Green Paper Towels – 6 rolls – $4.99 Bright Green Toilet Bowl Cleaner 24oz. – $2.49 |
Deal ideas…
Nothing is super-cheap here, but these are your best bets:
– 3 Bright Green 200ct. Napkins will cost $3.98 = about $1.33 each.
– 3 Bright Green Color-Safe Bleach will cost $3.98 = about $1.33 each.
– 3 Bright Green Toilet Bowl Cleaners will cost $4.98 = $1.66 each.
– 3 Bright Green Fabric Softeners will cost $9.98 = about $3.33 each. Plant-based softeners rarely go on sale, so this is a fair price.
– 3 Bright Green Dishwasher Rinse Aids will cost $13.98, or $4.66 each — but they are BIG, 16oz. bottles. If you missed the super-cheap Jet Dry earlier this year, considering that’s about what the 8oz. bottles cost when they’re not on sale – this is also a fair price. I did this deal last year in the absence of other rinse aid deals, and for a store-brand product, it worked fine.
If you have any Catalina coupons for $1 off Bright Green products, don’t forget to use them. In past years, we’ve also seen $1 store coupons for Bright Green pop up in the ad and as ecoupons around Earth Day. This sale runs through 4/27, so any coupons that turn up will only make it better.
“Buy 3, Save $3” Dominick’s is running a “Buy 3, Save $3” sale on Dove and Axe (through 5/10.) Excludes all trial, travel, and 1ct. Dove Beauty Bars. Here are your products and matchups: Axe Body Spray – $3.49 Axe Body Spray Twin Pack – $7.49 Axe Deodorant – $2.99 Axe Shampoo – $3.99 Axe Shower Gel – $3.99 Axe Hair Putty – $4.99 Dove Beauty Bar 2ct. – $2.49 Dove Beauty Bar 6ct. – $5.99 Dove Body Wash – $5.99 Dove Deodorant or Body Mist – Deodorant – $1.99, Body Mist – $2.99 Dove Hair Care 12oz – $2.99, 25.4oz – $4.99 Dove Men + Care Body and Face Bar 6ct. – $5.99 Dove Men + Care Body and Face Wash or Clean Shower Tool (could not locate product in store) Dove Men + Care Deodorant $3.99 |

Each person’s discounts are different, and they’re based on past purchases made with your Fresh Values card at Dominick’s.

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Print this Buy One, Get One Free coupon, and you’ll take two bottles home for a little over $4 each.

FREE Gain Dish Detergent: The P&G $110 Everyday Savings coupon mailer contains two current coupons for $1 off Gain Dish Detergent. Walmart sells Gain for .97 (exp. 4/30/11, 6/30/11)
Super Walmart meat deals:
- Fresh whole fryer chickens are .88/lb.
- Frozen bone-in turkey breast is $1.38/lb.
- Bone-in half ham is $1.48/lb.
- Spiral sliced half hams are $1.67/lb.
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.” I have heard from one reader who used a $3 Register Reward on a $2.49 copy of All You magazine and DID receive change, in cash.
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?
I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.
However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I’m aware of great coupon matchups, you’ll find those here too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

This is what sets your blog apart from other ones that just paste deals from all over the place. You go to the store and find out everything that is going on! Everything I want to plan is already here. One of my kids needs detergent that is natural fragrance and dye free for a skin condition and I wondered if the Dominick’s Buy 2 get 1 Free deal is good for that, and here are all the prices already. Thank you.
I’m thinking I like the Fruity Pebbles deal too. They work out to $1.24 a box with the catlina but coupons for free clothes at Old Navy in the box makes that extra good! I did not get the $3/1 Nivea coupons in my local or bigger city paper (Actually someone stole all my coupon inserts out of my bigger paper- rude!). Does anyone have extra they would be willing to trade? I have tons of diaper and pet food coupons I can give you. I’m willing to trade others as well (I’ve got extra $4/1 airwick that are free at wags this week). My husband and I both use this bodywash are really want to stock up!

FYI: I did the Pantiliner deal at Wags yesterday and my RR didn’t print. Store manager said it was a company-wide issue, and gave me the paperwork to mail in for the coupon.

If Dunkin Donuts coffee happens to be your favorite (like it is mine!) and you’re willing to pay for it at home so you don’t go paying for it at the store, check this out:
Dunkin Donuts coffee (11oz) is $7.99 at Jewel (nothing special, it’s the average price)
But when you buy 1, you’ll get the FREE eggs.
In the 4/17R1 there’s a coupon for $1.50 off 1bag.
I am going to buy 2 bags of coffee with 2 coupons, get TWO free eggs, and use the $.55/2 dozen eggs printable (not sure if it’s still available, but I printed it a few days ago and it was there). That’s $12.45 for 2 bags of DD coffee and 2 dozen eggs. Not dirt cheap or free, but I’ll take it!! :)
(Now if only we had the $1.50 coupon last week with Wags price at $5.99! but this week we get eggs, so it evens out)

Jill – the chocolate covered peeps are on sale with a WAGS coupon for 2/$1. Combine it with the $1/2 chocolate peeps items from the Peeps site, and you have 2 free chocolate peeps for Easter baskets. Here is the site: https://www.marshmallowpeeps.com

I was at Jewel yesterday, bought 10 Idahohian potatoes (found a $1 of 3 printable somewhere – I’d post the link, but forgot where it was – google it) – they ended up being .19 each!
Then, I bought 6 Dole fruit, 1 Quilted Northern, and 3 Stove Top, with coupons, got a great deal on it all, so I did the $5 deal twice in that transaction – the register only took off one $5 discount. I went to CS and they told me that you can only do the deal 1 time in a transaction (nowhere in the ad does it say, limit 1 deal per transaction).
So BEWARE and check your receipt if you are trying to do this deal more than once in a transaction! CS ended up giving me the $5 off, but told me that next time I see those deals and want to do them more than once, that I need to not only have a seperate transaction, but go to a different register! So I should have done the potatoes at self check out, and then gotten in line for the rest. Although, that would have screwed up my $6 off $60 coupon that I had. Boy, I wish the sale paper had been more clear, it would have saved so much time!

We can also use a $10 Dominick’s ham Q at Jewel for a Jewel brand ham, right?

The coupon for the ham at Jewel states that we need to have a seperate $20 purchase. Does this mean $20 before or after coupons for the other items in our cart?

If you’re new to Jill’s site (as I am) and don’t live in her area (which I don’t):
I was so excited about my first try at Jill’s match-ups that I waited all night for the post. When it came (3AM!), I grabbed my Acme (Jewel-family) flyer, pen in hand, and started inking deals.
But I couldn’t find the Lawrys. Or the Bird’s Eye. Or the milk….
However, http://www.acmemarkets.com has an online-shopping feature that lets you scour the store inventory.
I found all of the deals that Jill listed. Now I’m on my way to the store.
And thanks for the heads-up on the DD coffee :)

Seemed like a good deal to me but I don’t see it listed, so maybe not? From the store ad, Buy 1 Mrs. Smith Pumpkin Pie for $6.99 get 2 free= $2.33 per pie. At the Jewel I went to it rang up wrong due to a competing store deal so it ended up as $2.50 for 3 pies or $0.75 per pie. Good pies too. Usually frozen Pumpkin Pie is pretty bland, but these were well spiced and the crust is very good as well.

Fuze is on sale for 99-cents – and B1G1 – the 4/10S has $1.00/2 – so that’s free Fuze. Plus – if you get Preferred Card mailings, I had a coupon for “buy 4 Fuze, get 2 free” – I bought 8 Fuze and only paid for one!
Good combination of coupons – Coke products are on sale 12-packs 4/$10 – There was a tearpad coupon by the orange Fanta that says when you buy Fanta OR ANY COKE PRODUCT you can get $1.00 of a box of Rice Krispie Treats. Rice Krispie treats are on sale 2/$5 AND in the Jewel flyer you get FREE eggs if you buy two boxes of Rice Krispie Treats – so I bought my Coke and then paid $3 for two boxes of Rice Krispie treats and a dozen eggs.
Watch out for the Idahoan potatoes – some bags are only 2-ounce bags – they are on sale for $1.00 and look very close in size to the 4-ounce bags – my daughter was helping me shop and I didn’t catch the size difference when she tossed them in the cart – the 2-ounce bags will NOT trigger the $5/off if you buy 10.
Snapple is on sale for $5.50/6-pack and there is a tearpad of Rebate forms for up to $6.49.

Just got back from McHenry Jewel. I bought two packages of Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches. I used two $1 coupons from the Dominick’s Frozen Foods book. Did not generate any Catalina. I inquired at the service desk and she said I was not the only person who had trouble with this transaction today. She said thinks you have to buy THREE to generate the Catalina. It does say at the bottom of the ad “Minimum purchase requirement calculated after manufacturer coupons are redeemed” so I am thinking because I bought two at $6.49 and then used two $1 coupons it put me BELOW the $12 threshold requirement. $6.49 X 2 = $12.98 – $2.00 (2-$1Qs)=$10.98 which is definitely not $12! It also says “Limit one coupon per transaction” so I guess it could also be that I used TWO coupons but I thought that referred to the number of Catalinas generated in any single transaction. Any thoughts, Jill or my fellow super-couponers?
P.S. The cheapest hams there were all over $20; just an FYI.

Holy Cow – I have done this deal three times this past weekend to perfect it so now I have 36 bottles of green works cleaners to have an amazingly clean house for my family and bless tons of other families!!
buy 3 green works cleaners (wipes, glass, multi-purpose, toilet) $2.39-$2.79 each and get a large 22 oz green works dish washing liquid FREE Target has $1/1 for any green works and I got $1/1 manu coupon in the Spring Cleaning Product booklet at Albertsons. So with 4 manufacturer coupons and 4 target coupons, It actually was a .50 money maker and I put a filler sticker sheet in each transaction and paid .28 per transaction
Thanks Jill for educating me in this!

LITH was totally out of the 5 count Allegra.
The leg of lamb is a WHOLE leg, not a smaller piece. THey were in shrink weapped bags, and frankly didn’t look that great.
I stopped at Meijer down the road, and their lamb was the same price, semi-trimmed, and looked much nicer. Still a whole leg, but not quite as big.

I saw that the Skinny Cow Cat wasn’t working today. I bought two and didn’t get the Cat and have been wondering what to do about it. I used two coupons, so I paid $6 for both packages, which might not be bad for this product, but I would never, ever buy it at that price. So, do I go back to the store to complain I didn’t get the Cat? Do I just return the products and consider it a lesson learned? Do I just keep the overpriced ice-cream to avoid the ackwardness of acknowledging I was only buying it if I could get it super cheap (and give me an excuse to sneak a low calorie treat?)

Worked for me (bought at 11am at McHenry Jewel)!
I put one order of 128-ct size 4 Pampers and 2 Gerber Graduate meals through and got my $10 off next baby purchase and $5 off Pampers diapers or wipes. Next order had a 116-ct size 5 (they were out of the size 4, but my son can wear either!) and 2 more meals. I was able to use the Cats on that order and got another $10 off next baby purchase and $5 off Pampers.
Now I’m hoping Pampers go on sale at Jewel before those Cats expire!

I did the double dip pampers catalina at Jewel today and it worked, no problem… except that the catalina is for $10 off you next baby purchase and the pampers one is $5 off your next pampers purchase. Still good for someone who buys diapers, but just a warning that it’s not a straight money off your next shopping trip cat.

I just bought diapers and wipes at Jewel in Bloomingdale but the Catalina didn’t print. Is it wrong to want to return the items and try again? Should I have gone to customer service? Or is Catalina a privilege?

I do not know if this is true or not, but in the past if I have combined an instant savings deal with my order with a spend x, to get y CAT, the CAT has not always printed. Especially if I am doing a black belt. It is possible that if you are doing the $5 instant savings deal with your order, the $5 could be lowering the amount you need for the CAT. I hope this makes sense.

Sorry if this is a repost, but I didn’t see it anywhere…
My wife told me to grab any of the cheepie Revlon things at Target using the $2 Target Q’s from the paper…I had 6 of the files and nail clippers…I rang out, and Q’s started spitting out for $2 off one Revlon tool, and $5 off 2. The best part, these were Man-Q’s.
Sooooo, I went back and grabbed some more clippers, files, and a couple of things in the $4-6 dollar range also, not really adding up in my head. I checked out, and gave him the Man-Q’s that had just printed out first, then 9 of the $2 Target Q’s from the paper. Well, after the Man-Q’s, after 6 of the Target Q’s I was down to $.90, so I just told him to stop, and I’d take those back for another time…ended up with $30 of Revlon for $.90, and 5 more Man Q’s spit out.
Heck of a deal, especially if you have a few of the Q’s from Sunday!

It looks like I wasn’t the only one that had issues with the Ice Cream Cat this week. At the Crystal Lake location, you now need to buy 3 as they are going by the sale/preferred price instead of the original price! Expensive mistake :( I did inquire if this was a store to store thing or all Jewels but looking at other comments, it looks like for now, it’s store to store probably on it’s way to across the board at all Jewels.

I’m thinking of doing the diaper deal today at Jewel. I know the cats generated are for your next baby and Pampers purchase. For those of you who have done this, is there a minimum purchase required on the cat in order to redeem it? ie, if I go tomorrow with my cats and buy diapers, can I only buy as much as the cat is for? TIA

A friend and I went to Wags yesterday to get the tape deal. The cashier rang the mfr coupons ($1 + $0.55×2) plus the Wags in-store coupon..the total came out to $1.63 (.19 in tax). It appeared the Wags coupon automatically adjusted itself. Since this did not match our calculated price (we thought we could just pay 19 cents for the 3) we asked for them to re-ring. Store re-rang using the Wags coupon first then 2 mfr coupons – total $0.63. Again not what we thought it was going to be (although this is still a deal steal!) and we questioned it. The store mgr came out and said we couldn’t get them for ‘free’. We presented the coupon policy of adjusting coupons (adjust one of the .55 coupons to .44) and he said they have no way of doing that nor will they. The store mgr said that the only way they would adjust coupon is if something was on sale for $4.99 and the coupon was for $5 off.
Our question to anyone that knows, were we right or wrong about the Wags multi-coupon policy in this particular purchase?
We still got a deal (3 tapes for 63 cents) BUT just wanted to know for future purchases.. Thanks.

For CVS Aquafresh deal, toothpaste is also on sale for $1, if you don’t find any at Wags. Also kids Colgate toothpaste is on sale for a $1( not tagged), use $.50 from 4/3.
And if you have any CVS Hershey Qs from last week $1/1 use with $1/2 tearpads from Jewel for $.47 bags of candy.

I bought the 2 Skinny Cow reg price $6.49, but preferred price of $4, and did not get the Catalina. The customer service person at the Elburn Jewel, told me that the preferred price is the one used in creating the total amount spent, not the price that rings up first on the receipt. If that is correct, the deal listed on your site, and others that say 2 will get you the Cat, are not correct. Was the person who refused the Catalina wrong, or am I wrong.
Thanks for all your help!

Did 2 rounds of baby deals today – one Huggies, because I had those high value printables, and one Pampers. The $5 AND $10 printed for the Pampers. I ALSO found out that any previous Pampers cats will be accepted WITH your coupon INSERTS!
Here’s what I did:
3 jumbo packs Huggies (9.99 each)
1 72-ct wipe Tub (2.99)
Used $3.50, $3, and $2 printables on the diapers, got the $10 cat.
I had other items on that order but basically I paid $24.46 for all and got the $10 cat = $14.46. Less than half price!!
2nd run:
2 Pampers Cruisers 31ct (9.99 ea)
1 Wipes refill 360 ct (8.99)
1 Wipes 72-ct Wipes TUb (2.99)
Used 2-$3 diaper coupons and a $5 Pampers catalina from Walgreens (did the deal a week or 2 ago), got a $5 and $10 cat
Again, had other items on this order, but basically spent $20.96 and got a $10 and a $5 = $5.96!!! WOOHOO! :)
Looking at my receipt, the register applied one of my $3 coupons to the WIPES, and applied the $5 cat to the diapers. I told the cashier I wasn’t sure if it’d take both and to let me know, but it did. I suppose I should’ve done the Pampers first, to see if it rolled, but oh well.
Either way you should be able to stack the $5 Pampers cat with coupons from your inserts. I love Jewel :)

I went to my local Wags yesterday and not only were they out of almost everything, they said that there cats were not printing! The last few times I have been there this has been the case and the one time I inquired with the manager he reluctantly re-rang and adjusted prices to reflect the cat discount. I am to t point that I dont even want to go to “my” wags anymore and just drive a few towns east. Also, what is the protocol on cats? It seems that I have used doms cats at jewel and jewel at doms but last week jewel wouldnt take doms, or maybe it was a wags cat? Either way, are tings gettin goofy with cats? Sorry about the long post! Any suggestions?

YES! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but if anyone has some time today and enjoys a GREAT bottle (or two) of chardonnay, Dominick’s has bottles of Clos Du Bois Chardonnay (750 ml) regularly priced at $12.99 on sale for $7.76 (with Fresh Value Card). I bought two for a grand, after total tax of $16.64. Then, grab your 4/10 RP, fill out the rebate form, and BOTH of those bottles will be yours for $11.64 or $5.82 a bottle. Not too bad for a terrific bottle of chardonnay. Only catch? The price at Dominick’s expires today, 4/22. Enjoy!
