Hello, Super-Couponers!
It’s time for Deals of the Week once again. I’ve got all the best supermarket and drugstore deals of the week written just for you… all in one place, on one page! As always, grab your scissors and coupon inserts, and get ready to start clipping this week, as bunches of bargains and freebies are heading your way!
As I am based in Chicagoland, the supermarkets I write about are the major ones for our market. However, many of these deals will be applicable at stores around the country within the same parent chain:
- The Jewel-Osco deals may be applicable at Albertson’s, Shaws, Acme, Cub, and other SuperValu-owned stores
- The Dominick’s deals may be applicable at Safeway, Vons, Carr’s, Randall’s Genuardi’s, Tom Thumb, and other Safeway-owned stores
- The Hilander deals may be applicable at Kroger, Ralph’s, Fred Meyer, Dillon’s, City Market, King Soopers, and other Kroger-owned stores
The Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally.
This week’s newspaper contained two inserts: SmartSource (SS) and RedPlum (RP.) Some editions of the Parade magazine also have a coupon inside for a FREE 12oz. frozen strawberry lemonade at McDonald’s, so grab that if you’d like it.

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… (View weekly ad)
Ronzoni Garden Delight Pasta is on sale for $1.05. Use the $1 coupon from 5/15 SS and pay .05!
Some ConAgra products are on sale for $1 each, and they line up nicely to the coupons in the ConAgra “Rediscover Family” free coupon book if you requested it when it was available. Coupons for some of these products are also in the retail edition of the April All You (and yes, I too am irritated when there’s occasionally an extra coupon pull-out in the retail vs. subscriber edition… but April was one of those months.) If you bought the April All You, you’ll find a ConAgra insert between pages 96 and 97.
Hunt’s Ketchup (24oz.) is $1. Buy two and use the .50-off-2 coupon from the ConAgra book or the retail April All You. You’ll pay $1.50 for 2, or .75 each…
Manwich is also $1. (Sounding familiar yet? :) Buy three, use the $1-off-3 coupon in the book and pay $2 for 3 cans, or about .67 per can. If you also have the retail April All You, there’s a Buy 4 Get 1 Free for the Manwich. With both coupons, pay $2 for 4, or .50 per can.
Chef Boyardee canned or microwave pasta is also $1. Buy 4 and use the $1-off-4 coupon in the book. You’ll pay $3 for 4, or .75 each. If you also have the retail April All You, there’s a Buy 4 Get 1 Free for the canned Chef Boyardee. With both coupons, pay $3 for 5, or .60 per can.
(I was surprised to see that they now offer all the Chef Boyardee pastas in whole-grain versions too – saw ravioli, Beefaroni, and “ABCs and 123s with Meatballs.”)
Hunt’s canned tomatoes and pasta sauce are $1. The book has $1-off-3 coupons both for the tomatoes and the pasta sauce. With each coupon, buy 3 and pay $2 for 3 cans, or about .67 per can.
Ro*Tel diced canned tomatoes are $1. Buy three, use the $1-off-3 coupon from the ConAgra book or the retail April All You and pay $2 for 3 cans, or about .67 per can.
However, if you’re shopping at Meijer this week, you may wish to skip these last two deals… canned tomatoes are .09/can over there!
75oz. Xtra Laundry Detergent is on sale for $1.99 (through 5/22.) Buy two and use the $1-off-2 from the 5/1 SS1. You’ll pay $2.99 for two, or about $1.50 each!

Several Post Cereals (Honey Comb, Cocoa Pebbles, Raisin Bran) are on sale for $1.49/box, limit 8. There are also Jewel-branded cereals and snacks in the same deal, also for $1.49 each, including cereals, Quick Oats, toaster pastries, crunchy and chewy granola bars, and fruit snacks.
Creamette Pasta (12-16oz.) is on sale for $1. Use the .50 coupon from 4/10 SS and pay .50!
Lay’s Kettle Chips and Rold Gold Pretzels are on sale for $1.99 a bag. Buy two and use the $2-off-2 from the 5/1 PEPSI (that is, if you didn’t already buy Sun Chips with this coupon!) You’ll pay $1.98 for two bags, or .99 each! Don’t forget to use the FREE Sierra Mist coupon in the same insert too!
Here’s a deli meat and FREE gourmet mustard deal! If you’re on the Jewel-Osco email list, this week they emailed a coupon for a FREE bottle of DiLusso gourmet mustard with purchase of 1lb. of DiLusso deli meat.
The 4/10 SS has a coupon for $1 off a half-pound of DiLusso meat or cheese at the deli. Put those together and you’ve got a meat-and-mustard deal! Many DiLusso meats are priced at $4.49 per half-pound.

And, if you’ve got Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s Fresh Mixers on Avenu, they’ll likely be free with the coupon stack here. I have $1.25 off on one and $1.50 off the other, so with the ConAgra book/All You coupons, they’re free!

As long as this still has print limits..! Reader Avenger spotted a printable coupon for $2 off a $25 purchase at Jewel!
Jewel-Osco information:
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there.
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too.
Coupon books currently found at Jewel:
Fresh Summertime Fun – Coupons for charcoal, meats and other items – full list. All expire 6/18/11.
Smuckers Ice Cream – has ice cream topping coupons for $1.25 off and B3G4th Free
Fresh & Fun Celebration – Small book with coupons for $2 off any 1lb. or larger Stockman & Dakota Premium Angus Beef package; $2 off any 1 to 2lb. bag of Arctic Shores shrimp, and $2 off any Hormel Party Tray (all expire 7/15/11.)
Smart Easy Spring Cleaning – Coupons for SC Johnson cleaning products (Windex, Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles.)
Jewel meat deals:
- Chicken drumsticks, thighs or leg quarters are .88/lb.
- Jewel whole fryer chickens are $1.29/lb.
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.
- Jewel Italian Sausage or Bratwurst is $1.99/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- 4oz. Ocean Market Salmon or Tilapia fillets are $1 each – that’s $4/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- Broccoli crowns or cauliflower are .89/lb.
- Red seedless grapes are $1.49/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?
In the May 12-May 18 flyer – “Introducing Open Nature” on cover:

Also, remember to look through your offers for any FREE products. Over the past few weeks, many readers (and myself!) have found ecoupons for random free products in Just For U.
Hunt’s canned tomatoes and pasta sauce are $1. The ConAgra “Rediscover Family” coupon book (home mailer) has $1-off-3 coupons both for the tomatoes and the pasta sauce. With each coupon, buy 3 and pay $2 for 3 cans, or about .67 per can.
Again, though, if you’re a Meijer shopper… head there for .09 canned tomatoes this week.

Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area: (View weekly ad)…
Before we get to the grocery deals, if you like clearance shopping at Meijer, check out the housewares endcaps and clothing racks… over the weekend, we spotted high-threadcount (300, 400, and 600) 100% cotton bedsheets in Full, Queen and King ranging from $10-$20 per set. In children’s clothing, many of the long-sleeve shirts priced at $3 and $4 were ringing up for $2 each, so hit the price scanner and check to see if any already-good prices have been reduced even more. Other readers reported finding split accordion files (the kind I show in class to organize coupons in!) on clearance for $3.99 at the McHenry and Algonquin Meijer locations.
Summer Fun Stay-Cation Deal! Meijer is running a great Catalina sale in which buying $15 worth of participating Coca-Cola products generates a Catalina good for 4 FREE admissions to the Brookfield Zoo! (We saw this deal last year too on the Shedd Aquarium, and it was such a GREAT deal!)
12-packs of Coca-Cola are on sale for $3 each. Buying 5 will cost you $15, and you’ll get the pop AND 4 free admissions to Brookfield Zoo! General admission at the zoo is $13.50 each for adults, $9.50 each for kids, so if you’re planning to visit the zoo at all this summer, doing the deal FOR the zoo passes alone is a steal – it drops your admission to $3.75 each, plus you get “free” pop.
Believe it or not, there ARE coupons out to make this deal even better. If you picked up some of the “Women’s Heart Health” Coca-Cola coupon books found in some stores back in February, there are $1-off-2 coupons for Diet Coke 12-packs inside. With 2 coupons, buy 5 12-packs (four of which are Diet Coke.) Pay $13 for your 5 12-packs, PLUS 4 free zoo admissions.
Several readers have also spotted a new Coca-Cola coupon book on displays at Jewel too (I don’t have one, so I don’t know what the book is called..!) It reportedly has a $1-off-3 12-packs coupon inside too. LOVE this deal!
The zoo coupons are good through 12/31/11, and they are one per transaction. If you want more zoo coupons, split your Coke purchase up into 5 12-packs per transaction.
Welch’s Essentials Juice is on sale for $2.50. Use the .75 coupon from 4/17 SS2 and pay $1.75. If you have two .75 coupons, the deal gets better… Meijer Mealbox has a coupon for $1-off-2 Welch’s! With this and two manufacturer coupons, buy two Welch’s. After coupons, pay $2.50 for two, or $1.25 each!
Meijer is running a Catalina deal on its Meijer Naturals and Meijer Organics house branded food items. Buy any 3, get $1 off, buy any 4, get $2 off, or buy any 5 or more, get $3 off your NEXT Meijer Naturals or Organics purchase. (Page 4-5 of Thursday’s ad.)
The cheapest item shown in the ad is Meijer Naturals canned tomatoes (10-14.5oz.) or tomato sauce (15oz.) at .69 a can. Buying 5 will cost you $3.45, and you’ll get a $3 Catalina! 5 cans of tomatoes or sauce for .45 is .09 a can! SUPER CHEAP!
***
If you like organic ketchup, Meijer’s house brand of 20-ounce ketchup is $1.99. An all-ketchup deal would cost $9.95 and you’d get $3 back – $6.95 for 5 is $1.39 a bottle.
Ditto their 64-ounce tomato or vegetable juice. It’s $2 a bottle – buy 5 for $10 and get $3 back. 5 for $7 is $1.40 each, also a good price.
And… their naturals peanut butter. Same deal at $2 per 16oz. jar – buy 5 for $10 and get $3 back. 5 for $7 is $1.40 each.
I did a round of Meijer Organic Milk which triggered the Catalina as well.
Note that the Catalina is for your NEXT Meijer Naturals or Organics purchase, and it does state “Additional coupon offer will not print when this coupon is redeemed in the same transaction,” so don’t roll it if you’re planning multiple deals. Idea to use the Catalina on in a future trip? Meijer organic milk ($3.49 half-gallon) or Meijer Organics/Naturals fresh produce items.
Meijer’s got another Catalina sale running on Meijer Brand Health, Beauty, and Cosmetic products that are priced at $2.69 each or more. Buy 3, get a $3 Catalina; buy 4, get a $5 Catalina, buy 5, get an $8 Catalina for your next health, beauty or cosmetic purchase.
To do this the “cheapest” way, buying 5 $2.69 items will cost you $13.45 and you’ll get an $8 Catalina back… that’s $5.45 for 5, or $1.09 each. I saw the Meijer Triple Antibiotic Ointment (Neosporin knockoff) priced at $2.69 – getting it for around a buck isn’t bad.
*****
Honestly, I didn’t think this deal was THAT hot… until I noticed that all of the Meijer brand vitamins and supplements are Buy One, Get One Free this week. The free bottles DO count toward the purchase requirements!
Because the vitamins are B1G1F, to maximize the deal, you’ll want to buy 6, pay for 3, and get the Catalina for buying 5 or more. Meijer vitamin supplements start at $3.99. Buying 6 bottles at that price (B1G1F, so paying for 3) costs $11.97 and you’ll get an $8 Catalina back – that knocks everything to $3.97 for SIX, or about .66 a bottle!
GREAT CHILDREN’S VITAMINS DEAL! 60-count Meijer Kids Gummies or Animal Shapes vitamins are $5.49 per bottle. Buy 6 bottles ($16.47, as three bottles will be free with B1G1F sale.) Pay $16.47 and get an $8 Catalina back – that’s $8.47 for SIX bottles, or about $1.41 per bottle! SUPER cheap for kids’ vitamins!
If there are supplements you take regularly, this is a great time to stock up too. For example, 100ct. bottles of Meijer Naturals Fish Oil are $6.79 B1G1F – six bottles (again, paying for three) costs $20.37 and you’ll get $8 back. That’s $12.37 for 6, or about $2.06 per bottle, which is really a steal for this.
Deal Insider Info: To be honest, I wondered if I might do even better on the fish oil deal. Because the ad says that the Meijer Organics/Naturals Catalina triggers a $3 Catalina on “any Meijer Naturals,” and many of the vitamins and supplements are also branded as “Meijer Naturals,” I did the deal wondering if I’d also get the $3 Catalina in addition to the $8 Health Catalina. The $8 Health Catalina printed for my vitamins transaction, but the $3 Meijer Naturals Catalina did not. The service counter said that while the ad says “any,” the $3 Catalina only works on food items. Could have been one heck of a double-dip! Took one for the team… so you don’t have to — and still a great buy at about $2 each.
Again, great, great potential here for super-cheap Meijer vitamin and supplement stockups by combining the B1G1F with the “Buy 5, get $8” sale. Remember again that the $8 Catalina is for your next “Health, Beauty or Cosmetic” purchase at Meijer and is a store coupon.
Buying ADULT vitamins? Meijer Mperks has an ecoupon for $2 off any Meijer Century Multivitamin too – 300ct only.
Meijer is running its “Buy 10 for $10, get the 11th FREE” sale again. Remember, with this sale, the order that the cashier scans your item in DOES matter if you plan to use coupons, as Meijer will not allow you to use a coupon on a free item. Make sure that 11th item is a non-coupon item (produce is always fun to get FREE!)
I have noticed that each time they do these, less and less name brand products are included in favor of Meijer brands. (What’s up with that?)
Best bets?
Friskies Cat Treats (Whisker Lickins, Party Mix) are $1. Use the $1.50-off-3 from 3/27 SS2. You’ll pay $1.50 for 3, or .50 per bag!

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

FREE Gain Dishwashing Liquid: The P&G $110 Everyday Savings coupon mailer contains a coupon for $1 off Gain Dishwashing Liquid. Walmart sells Gain for .97 (exp. 6/30/11)
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.” I have heard from one reader who used a $3 Register Reward on a $2.49 copy of All You magazine and DID receive change, in cash.
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?
I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.
However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I’m aware of great coupon matchups, you’ll find those here too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Didn’t you say you need to buy 1 lb of meat for free mustard at Jewel? So you would need 2 Qs for half pounds.

Also there is a $1/1 Q on Pine- Sol website for Dom super Q. After Qs only $.49 for big bottle.

Another deal I found at Target (but I haven’t tried it yet):
12pk Lipton Tea & 4pk Starbucks Frappuccion’s are $5.99/ea. Get a $5 gift card when you buy two and there’s a $2/2 MQ out there from 5/1 (I think). My only question is do you have to get one tea and one frap to get the GC or can you get two of the same? If you can buy 2 of the same (to use the MQ) then they’d work out to be $2.49each when you buy two after the gift card.

I’m still new at this and have a question about the Old Spice, Zest and Gillette deal. Just to be sure – IS it okay to use the 5/1 PG coupon for Buy Gillette Body Wash, get Deodorant free? It wouldn’t be using two manufacturer’s coupons on one product (here, that product would be the Gillete Body Washes). Has anyone tried this yet? Thanks in advance :)

Was this a good deal, because no one(Jill, Couponmom, CouponTom…) has mention it? Arm & Hammer Detergent is on sale at Jewel for $2.99 each (normally $5.99). Use $1.00 off 2 coupon from 4/10 ss. I had two of these. I also had some peelies (from way long ago so not sure where they came from, but some of you may have them too.). The peelies were buy 1 get $1.00 off. So, I bought 2 at $2.00 each, and 2 at $2.50 each). The fabric softner sheets are also on sale and you can use the 4/10 ss coupon $3.00 off 1(I didn’t cause I only use the fragrance free ones and they were out).

Is it correct that if you purchase one item at Walgreens you cannot use a RR and a manufacturer coupon? I was told that the RR is considered a manufacturer coupon and that in order to use both coupons I needed to purchase a second item. I bought 67 cent nail polish. I think however, they still applied the overage on the RR to the first item. While it appears that at CVS you can use as many EB’s as you want, is this correct?
jenniferg59 says
Can you tell me if what I did yesterday was ok or if I goofed and used too many coupons? It did work and didn’t beep but want everyone’s input.
The Mach 3 razors are B1 G1 50% off. So I bought those and used a B1G1 free coupon along with a $4 coupon, bringing them down to $.50 or .25 each.

I figured out what I think is a pretty decent deal at Target:
Special K cereals are $2.95, buy 4, get one free
5/1 RP has $1 off 2
4/17 RP1 has $1 off 3
The Target site has a $1 off 3
THEN…Target.com also has a $5 off women swim apparel with purchase of 4 or more Special K items.
So, that would be 5 boxes Special K for $8.80, plus the $5 off a swimsuit
(If I did that correctly, then I’m pretty proud of myself LOL)

Just back from the Jewel in Orland Park and Ronzoni garden pasta is on sale for $1.00. With the dollar coupon it’s free. I also bought Minute Maid pink lemonade for $1.00 and when I was checking over my receipt, it listed a $1.00 off manufacturer coupon…only I didn’t have a coupon for it! So I got a free lemonade too. Does anyone know how that coupon ended up on my receipt? It wasn’t from Avenue…is it automatically attached to my Preferred Card? I’m not complaining, just intrigued!

While at Jewel I noticed that several of the steaks, roast and Hormel pork had Manager Special store coupons on them. I got a nice package of pork chops for a couple bucks and a package of Hormel ribs (which I was also able to use the $1/1 MQ) for super cheap. I’m not sure if this will be at all stores or just the one I was at- Jewel on Larkin in Joliet.

Since my Walgreens didn’t have certain items qualifying for the $3/3 RR, I bought 4 items (just to be sure). They also wouldn’t let me use two Old Spice coupons. The cashier was reluctant to let me use two Gilette coupons, and groaned when I asked if she could scan it and see. (I seem to always get the persnickety cashiers.) Guess I need to work on my coupon lingo … but I did find this pretty okay deal:
(2) Old Spice body washes
(1) Gilette body wash
(1) Zest body wash
(1) Zest body wash <<-- this one was shrinkwrapped with the other Zest, but it's still 18 oz! BONUS! (1) Gilette deodorant Coupons: B1G1 Old Spice, $1/1 Zest, B1 Gilette body wash G1 Deodorant, $2/1 Gillete Total after coupons: $7.49 $3 in RR So it's like getting 6 items for $0.75 each. Pretty happy ... just wish I could have used the $1/2 Old Spice. Live and learn!

I posted this last week, but no one responded, probably b/c it was later in the week and most couponers seem to blog early in the week, so I’m trying again.
In the four weeks I’ve been doing this I’ve heard a lot about short and long term store flyers. I shop at Ralphs (Hilander), and I’ve never seen two separate flyers for a single week. Is this store just different than Jewel, or am I missing the short cycle flyers? If Ralphs does two cycles, how can I get the short cycle flyer (I’ve never seen one in the store)?
Also, you say that it’s best to shop Sun-Wed…is this strictly b/c of the overlapping flyers (so it wouldn’t matter if there’s only one flyer) or are the prices lower in general?
On a different topic, I was very excited about the freezer deals that you talk about on your DVD, but I googled it and it seems as if only Dominick’s does them. Is that true? I couldn’t even find that the counterpart Vons does them. Does anyone other than Dominick’s do them, or is that a regional thing?
I know you focus on the Chicago area, so I sometimes feel a little left out of the great comments on your blog since I’m on the west coast. Do you know of any blog I can go to for LA-specific daily commentary?

CouponTom says there is a Dole salad blend coupon in the 5-15 SS, but I have 3 SS, and none of them have that coupon.

Just got back from Jewel in McHenry. They have both Genoa Salami and Hard Salami on price cut at $3.79 a 1/2 pound. They also had deli Ham for $3.49 a 1/2 pound. I passed on the deli ham as it didn’t look very appetizing. They also had several types each of chicken, turkey, beef and Black Forest Ham at varying prices; most around $4.29 a 1/2 pound. They also had various cheeses from $3.99 to $4.49 a 1/2 pound. And the DiLusso Mustard is on display at the Chef’s Kitchen (deli). I think there were five or six different kinds; Chipolte mustard, cranberry-honey mustard (which looked interesting), dijon mustard, deli-style mustard, jalapeno mustard and honey mustard sweet and hot.
They were out of the Garden Delight Ronzoni and Hunt’s Ketchup.
They did have plenty of Heluva Dip in four flavors: French Onion, Bacon Horseradish, Buffalo Wing and Jalapeno Cheddar.

Just as an FYI-I just got back from Meijer. Got the 6 vitamins, paid for 3 and got the cat for $8.00 off next HBA purchase (yeah!!) I picked up a couple bottles of Meijer Ibuprofen (already on sale) to purchase using my $8.00 cat, but it wouldn’t work cuz you can’t use it until AFTER 5/19/11. So, note you have to wait a couple of days to use your $8.00 cat, but worth it anyway! :) (Also noted that Meijer McHenry price was 5.99, not 5.49 as Jill used in her example-just FYI)

I saw in the ad that it is 11.99, I have a U coupon for 5 off and a separate cutable coupon for $5. Can I use both? I forget if Dominicks changed the policy.

I did the Old Spice deal: 2 Old Spice Bodywashes, 1 Gillette Bodywash, and 1 Gillette Deoderant. I noticed that the Old Spice Deoderant said buy one get one half off, so I bought another one hoping that I would get the first one free and the second one half off. This did work, but now I am wondering if that was still such a good deal or not? This would make 2 gillete deoderants $1.50 each. Is this good? They are regularly 5.99 each. But would I still have been better off with just the free one and not purchasing the second for half off? I also noticed that is took half off for the Old Spice Bodywash, too?? Not sure why, but I will take it?! The next question is with the Electrasol/Jet Dry deal. I purchased both deals, but only got one $1.50 RR. Can I not do both at the same time or something? And, if that is the case, Jill would you mind saying that in your future write ups (for people like me). I usually don’t understand all the couponing I do, I just follow exaclty what you say to do. And, I thank you for this blog and for people like me being able to piggy back off of what you say! Without this blog I would not be doing this!!

I went to the Dundee Walgreens today to get the Gillette Body wash deal and it was not on sale (3/$10), it was $4.99 each. Which stores is it on sale at? I am very new at this!

I tried two Walgreens (Crook :-) & Lake Counties) and both had the Gillette deodorants priced at $5.79 and the value of the free q is only up to 4.99 so I passed. Thought I’d share this observation and wait for a better deal because I know Jill will post it!

I finally found a peelie on something I was going to buy anyway. I’ve been reading the blog/super couponing for 2 months and finally found the much coveted peelies everyone talks abut. It was on a box of chicken rice-a-roni at Jewel. It was buy 3, get a free pasta-roni up to $2.00. So as part of the buy 10 save 5 deal, I bought 11 items (3 were rice a roni) and got a free pata roni. AND, it scanned $2 off instead of $1.29!! I was so excited!!
Unfortunately, I’m noticing that I’m not saving any money couponing, because now my husband (who used to do 90% of the grocery shoppng) “lets” me do it all, LOL!!
Seriously though, I’m saving my family a lot of money and thank you Jill for all you do!!!

Jill,
Sorry if this is a duplicate, but checked all recent…Did you or anyone have trouble with Dominick’s Lake In The Hills while doing the cereal and free mild deal? I tried to use the coupons on my cereal and the free milk coupon. However, they said I was double dipping since I am required to purchase three items for the milk Q and an additional “x” for the cereal Q. They refused to manually enter any q’s. Now, I am stuck with free milk q’s….I am not in the mood! Happens every time I try to do a Dom’s deal.
If you did the deal, please tell me which Dom’s you use as I would like to get the better treatment and have my coupons to work.
Thanks :)

Jewel was a pleasant change tonight with stocked shelves and ZERO coupon problems. After weeks of chasing deals @ Wags and Target, I was happy to get everything on my list in under an hour and no waiting in line @ 11:30. I saved 80% and brought home BAGS of FREE stuff.
Thanks Jill for everything that you do!!!

I’m so discouraged!! I guess I just live in the wrong part of the country (southern Indiana). Just this week our inserts did not have the wisk, colgate or miracle whip coupons. We also don’t have any of the big chain grocery stores. We do have Schnucks and Buy-Low. Is there anyone who posts the deals for these stores? Any suggestion on a source for the coupons we don’t get?

Just got back from CVS and wanted to share the savings! All Physician’s Formula-Foundation, Bronzer, Blush, Powder and Concealer makeup was a straight $6 OFF! I rarely see this brand on sale and I love their concealer. I bought
3 @ $8.39-$6=$2.39
1 @$9.49-$6=$3.49
I also had 4 MFR coupons for $1 off each Physician’s Formula cosmetic! And for more added savings, I scanned my CVS card at the red coupon machine and received $3 off $10 Healthcare purchase. I asked the cashier if I could use this on the makeup and he said no problem and it scanned accordingly! So my total was $4.31 (including tax) for 4 concealers that normally would have costed $34.66!
Thanks so much Jill for teaching me to how save on my favorite brands!!!

Just another big thank you Jill. I ran to Meijer (completely out of my way) to do the Coke deal with free zoo tickets. I used one of my free coke coupons from coke rewards as well as 2, $1. off as well as $2. in mperks as well as a yummy freshetta pizza and 5 cans of tomato sauce all for out of pocket $15. And now we have 4 tickets to the zoo and $3. off organics which I will use on milk. I am very grateful that I can purchase something I would buy anyway (for less) and get free zoo tickets out of it. I don’t even receive a Meijer paper but this offer was too good to NOT do for us! Thank you! I really appreciate this site and all that you do!
PS. I noticed the organics/nature products deal was going on this week as well (according to the tag).

I’m hoping someone can help me understand Wags rules better because I keep messing up. I wanted to do the Finish dishwasher tabs deal. I had three coupons. I bought three and it printed out one $1.50 RR. I’m guessing now that I should have bought one per transaction to get RRs on each, but I didn’t know it wouldn’t print one per box. Does this kind of thing apply to all Wags RR deals?
Thanks for your help!

I haven’t been able to hunt down their policy to verify this – but a mom at gymnastics this morning told me that Kroger will no longer let you use a coupon if you will end up paying less than 25% of the cost of the item. No more freebies. . . Can I just say that TLC has totally screwed up couponing for us ordinary shoppers!

melita #2 (40 count) coffee filters are on sale for $1.29 (normally $1.90; target brand are $1.35). coupon in 4/17 SS for $1.00/2 – making them about $0.80/box. seems like a good deal to me. can you get these cheaper jill?

Does anyone out there know if the free zoo catalina is still going on? And if so, do you know when it is over?
I had my poor parents go to Meijer for me today to possibly get the free tickets, and was told it was done. Can anyone verify this for me?
Thanks!

Got a question / favor / suggestion on these “updates”…
For those of us that follow the blog, it’s impossible to tell what was actually updated, especially in these huge weekly deal posts. Even if I re-read the whole thing, I don’t know if you just corrected a typo, deleted an expired deal, or re-wrote half the contents.
Is there any way you can highlight or flag the changes so we know where to look. otherwise, at least in my case, the changes are not noticed and might as well have not been posted. I can’t be the only one that has this problem.
Thanks!
