Hello, Super-Couponers!
It’s time for Deals of the Week once again. I’ve got all the best supermarket and drugstore deals of the week written just for you… all in one place, on one page! As always, grab your scissors and coupon inserts, and get ready to start clipping this week, as bunches of bargains and freebies are heading your way!
As I am based in Chicagoland, the supermarkets I write about are the major ones for our market. However, many of these deals will be applicable at stores around the country within the same parent chain:
- The Jewel-Osco deals may be applicable at Albertson’s, Shaws, Acme, Cub, and other SuperValu-owned stores
- The Dominick’s deals may be applicable at Safeway, Vons, Carr’s, Randall’s Genuardi’s, Tom Thumb, and other Safeway-owned stores
- The Hilander deals may be applicable at Kroger, Ralph’s, Fred Meyer, Dillon’s, City Market, King Soopers, and other Kroger-owned stores
The Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally.
This week’s newspaper contained a whopping FIVE coupon inserts: 1 Procter & Gamble (PG,) 2 SmartSource (SS,) 1 RedPlum (RP) and one various brands, including Pepsi and Frito Lay called “$20 – Moments to Save”) (PEPSI… though if you use CouponTom.com’s database, note that he has this labeled as “SS3.”) Some areas also received a SIXTH Target $160 P&G insert (all Target store coupons.) And, Hoy delivery areas also received the SmartSource Espanol insert this week. The Parade magazine also has a $1-off-2 Wonderful Pistachios coupon inside. If you did NOT receive the 5/1 PEPSI insert, you can print some of the coupons from it at this link. (I posted this link on the blog on Sunday morning, when the link was new and the entire insert’s coupons were available… so if you printed them all, refer to the printable versions for any 5/1 PEPSI deals.)

Current home-delivery subscription deals on the Chicago Tribune: Code X277 or X542: .50/week Sunday Delivery or $1/week W, TH, F, Sun delivery. Call 800-311-8500 or visit www.chicagotribune.com.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… (View weekly ad)
Page 2 of Sunday’s Jewel ad has a bunch of STORE coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons! Many feature Pepsi and Frito-Lay products, which line up nicely to the coupons we just got in the new 5/1 PEPSI insert.
Best matchups?
Sun Chips and Tostitos (9-13oz.) are 2-for-$4 with Jewel store coupon. (Note that you have to buy 2 Sun Chips OR 2 Tostitos – NO mix or match, according to the coupon.) For a Tostitos deal, use the $1 off Tostitos coupon in the 5/1 PEPSI. If you have two $1 coupons, you’ll nab these for $1 a bag. For a Sun Chips deal, use the $2-off-2 Sun Chips coupon from 5/1 PEPSI, and also pay $1 per bag. BUT, also clip the “Free Sierra Mist 2 Liter With Purchase of any Sun Chips” coupon from the 5/1 PEPSI and get some free pop too!
Tropicana or Trop50 (28-59oz.) are 2-for-$5 with Jewel store coupon. There’s a $2-off-3 coupon in the 5/1 PEPSI. With the even-odd numbers discrepancy here, the best way to do this deal is if you have multiple 5/1 PEPSI inserts. With two Tropicana coupons, grab two more Jewel flyers in the store. Buy SIX Tropicana juices and use three 2-for-$5 store coupons (now $15.) Use two $2-off-3 manufacturer coupons (now $11 for 6) and that works out to $1.83 each – great price for juice! (Of course, now you have to rearrange your fridge to hold 6 OJs :)
Quaker Cereals (18-22oz – BIG boxes) are $1.99 each with Jewel store coupon. If you are NOT buying Tropicana with the $2-off-3 coupon from 5/1 PEPSI noted above, you can use it here. Grab two more Jewel flyers in the store for the store coupons. Buy 3 Quaker Cap n’ Crunch or Quaker Life (mix & match is fine) and use the $2-off-3 manufacturer coupon. You’ll pay $3.97 for 3 boxes, or about $1.32 a box…
Lipton Iced Tea 12-packs (16.9oz. bottles) are 2-for-$9 with Jewel store coupon. Use the $2-off-2 manufacturer coupon from 5/1 PEPSI and pay $7 for 2, or $3.50 each…
Here’s a little deal on Scott Paper Products. Buy 2 items from 2 different categories (more on that in a minute) and get a $2 Catalina. Buy 3 from 3 different categories and get a $3 Catalina.
Here are your products:
Single-Roll ScotTissue bath tissue – .89-.99
Single-Roll ScotTowels paper towels – $1.34-$1.99
Scott Flushable Wipes – $1.99
– .50 off – 4/17 SS
Easy deals? Buy 1 ScotTissue and 1 Flushable Wipes. Pay $2.38-$2.48 and get $2 back! .38-.48 for BOTH!
Or, buy 1 ScotTissue and 1 ScotTowel. Pay $2.23-$2.98 and get $2 back – .23-.98 for both.
This deal just keeps coming around! Kool-Aid unsweetened drink mix packets are on sale for .10 each. Buy 15 ($1.50) and use the “Buy 10, get 5 free” coupon from 3/13 SS. You would think you’d pay $1 for all, but the coupon is taking $1.25 off when scanned, leaving you paying .25 for 10 packets! That’s about 2.5 cents each!
There’s also a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” coupon in the same insert – it is taking .25 off at the register when scanned. You’ll pick up three more for .05!
And, if you’re not a Kool-Aid drinker, remember that they make lemonade mix too… and summer’s coming!
Stride gum 14ct. packs are on sale for $1. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from 4/3 SS. You’ll pay $1 for two, or .50 each!
Or, save even more. Packs of Stride “Winterblue” flavor are on clearance for .63. Used $1-off-2s from 4/3 SS and paid .13 per pack! This is probably on clearance everywhere as the wrapper has a picture of a concert audience and is advertising a contest that ended in January.
Cheaper cards deal: This week’s Jewel ad has a manufacturer coupon for $2-off-3 American Greetings cards priced at $1.99 or higher. With it, pay $3.97 for three $1.99 cards, or about $1.32 each…
“Spend $20, get $5 plus 5 free Redbox Rentals” Catalina Sale Buying $20 or more worth of the following Procter & Gamble products will generate a $5 Catalina and a Catalina with 5 Redbox rental codes! (Despite the wording in the ad, this sale is working on a $20 pre-coupon total.) Here are your products and matchups: Always Pads or Liners (20-100ct. select) – $4.99 Aussie Shampoo or Conditioner (13.5oz.) – $2.99 Bounce Fabric Softener sheets (105-120ct.) – $4.99 Bounty Giant Roll paper towels (8ct. limit 4) – $10.99 Bounty Napkins (200ct.) – $2.99 Cascade Dishwashing Detergent (75oz. liquid or powder, or 16-20ct. Action Pacs) – $4.59 Crest Toothpaste – (4.1-8oz.) $3.50 Charmin Ultra (12ct. Double Roll or 6ct. Mega Roll) – $6.49 Cover Girl Cosmetics – 30% off regular prices Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (10.1oz. foam or 19-24oz. liquid) – $2.79 Downy Fabric Softener (41-51oz.) – $4.99 Duracell Alkaline Batteries (8ct. AA or AAA) – $5.99 Febreze Air Effects (9.7oz.) – $2.99 Febreze Set & Refresh – (.18 oz.) – $2.99 Gillette Venus 1ct. razors and 3-4ct. cartridges – $9.49 Herbal Essences Shampoo or Conditioner (10.1-12oz.) – $2.99 Iams Dog Food – (15.5-17.5lb.) – $16.99 Ivory Dishwashing Liquid (19-24oz.) – $2.79 Oral-B Toothbrush – $3.50 Pampers Big Pack Diapers or Easy Ups – $19.99 Prilosec OTC 14ct. – $10.29 Pringles Super Stack Chips (5.71-6.73) – $1.50 Puffs Family Size Tissues (124-200ct.) – $1.50 Swiffer Refills or Dusters (32ct. dry, 24ct. wet, or 6ct.) – $8.99 Tampax Tampons (20ct.) – $4.99 Tide Laundry Detergent (100oz. liquid or 113-116oz. powder) – $10.99 Tide Stain Release (68oz. liquid or 34ct. tabs) – $10.99 |
Not crazy cheap, but I like Tide Stain Release, and this price isn’t bad for the big bottles… if you got two P&G inserts this weekend, you could buy 2 Tide Stain Release ($21.98.) Use two $3 coupons ($15.98.) Pay $15.98 and get $5 plus 5 free Redbox… $10.98 for two bottles is $5.49 each.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
8oz. cans of Jewel Tomato Sauce are .25 each.
16oz. packages of Jewel margarine quarters are .99
4-single-roll-packs of Shoppers Value toilet paper are $1.
Canvas gardening gloves are .99/pair.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
As long as this still has print limits..! Reader Avenger spotted a printable coupon for $2 off a $25 purchase at Jewel!
Jewel-Osco information:
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there.
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too.
Coupon books currently found at Jewel:
Fresh & Fun Celebration – Small book with coupons for $2 off any 1lb. or larger Stockman & Dakota Premium Angus Beef package; $2 off any 1 to 2lb. bag of Arctic Shores shrimp, and $2 off any Hormel Party Tray (all expire 7/15/11.)
Smart Easy Spring Cleaning – Coupons for SC Johnson cleaning products (Windex, Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles.)
Jewel meat deals:
- Jewel split chicken breasts, drumsticks, thighs and leg quarters are .99/lb.
- Always a deal: Jewel-Osco has 1lb. chub packs of Carolina Ground Turkey (dark meat) for around $1.69, every day, at most locations.
- Jewel is running it’s “Fav 4” meat sale again. I’m not seeing anything earth-shattering here, as many items are pricing out at over $2.50/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- Ocean Market seafood 4oz. portions (salmon, tilapia) are $1 each – that’s $4/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- 5lb. bags of Value Wise russet potatoes are $1.99 – that’s .40/lb.
- l1b. bags of Farm Stand baby carrots are $1
- Roma tomatoes are $1.29/lb.
- White onions are $1.29/lb.
- Jalapeno peppers or tomatillos are $1.29/lb.
- Bosc or Anjou pears are $1.49/lb.
- Granny Smith, Fuji or Cameo apples are $1.49/lb.
- Fresh Express 12oz. salads are $1 each.
- Kiwis are .40 each – great price
- Sweet corn is .40 an ear
- Mangos are $1 each
- Jewel is running its “Fav 4” produce sale again. Mix and match any Fav 4-tagged items and pay $10 for 4. As with everything, stick to items whose per-pound prices are $1-$2/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also now load these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

Dominick’s is running a “Buy $50 worth of gift cards, get $10 Grocery Catalina” sale! I love these deals because you’re basically getting a $50 gift card for $40 (provided you have $10 worth of groceries to buy in the future at Doms, that is…)
The ad shows gift cards for Barnes & Noble, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Starbucks, JCPenney, and Nordstrom. Kohl’s shoppers may want to pick up a Kohl’s card, then use it while Kohl’s Cash is running this week over there…
Reader Sebrugger spotted a great deal on Hallmark Cards at Doms. Cards priced at $1.99 and up are involved in a Catalina deal – buy 3 and get a $5 store Catalina. Three $1.99 cards will cost $5.97 and you’ll get $5 back – three cards for .97! Look in the store for a free purse holder too when you buy 3 cards (it’s in the ad as well.)
Sebrugger writes that there was another surprise with this deal… “After the third transaction, not only did I receive the $5 OYNO cat, I also received a $4 bonus store cat for purchasing a certain number of hallmark products. Purchased a total of 9 cards and 3 purse holders. Total Paid $17.91 plus tax, got back $19 in store cats.”

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Off to Target
(View weekly ad)…
When the diaper deals rain, they pour! Jewel-Osco’s had a great one running for weeks now, and Target’s jumping into the game with some decent diaper deals this week too.
Both Pampers and Huggies Big Boxes are on sale for $19.99 each. When you buy 2, you’ll get a $5 Target gift card back.
Let’s tackle the Pampers deal first…
The new 5/1 PG has a $1.50 off Pampers coupon. (The 2011 P&G Everyday Savings book has a $1 coupon too if you only subscribe to one paper.) For this example, though, I’ll assume you have two $1.50 Pampers coupons, as many people buy multiple papers on a 5-insert week.
So, buy two Pampers boxes ($39.98.) Minus two $1.50 manufacturer coupons ($36.98.)
If you received the 5/1 Target/P&G store coupon insert, there’s a coupon inside for a FREE 36-ct. Pampers Sensitive Wipes when you buy a box of Pampers diapers. Again, if you have two papers, use two of these coupons.
You’ll pay $36.98 for two big boxes of Pampers and two tubs of wipes, then receive a $5 Target gift card back. That knocks it to $31.98 for all — like getting the big boxes for $15.99 each, plus a free tub of wipes for each box!
—–
Another way to do the Pampers deal if you NEED more Pampers baby wipes too…
The 5/1 RP has a Target store coupon for $5 off big-box diapers AND a 448-ct. Pampers baby wipes. The 448ct. package sells for $11.99 at most Target stores. There’s also a .50 Pampers wipes manufacturer coupon in the 5/1 PG insert. If you’ve got them, cut two of each coupon (the $5 and the .50.)
Buy the same scenario above with the same coupons (2 big box Pampers, 2 36ct. Pampers Sensitive Wipes tubs) AND two 448-ct. Pampers baby wipes as well.
Pre-coupon total for everything: $63.96 (not including the 2 free wipes tubs, because they’ll be free with coupon)
Minus two $1.50 Pampers manufacturer coupons ($60.96,) minus two $5 Target store coupons ($50.96,) minus two .50 Pampers wipes manufacturer coupons ($49.96.)
Pay $49.96 and get a $5 Target gift card back – ultimately, $44.96 for 2 big boxes of Pampers, 2 big boxes of wipes, and 2 plastic tubs of wipes. If you would have bought the diapers at $19.99 per box anyway, it’s like getting the big wipes refills for just $2.49 each.
—–
Now, the Huggies deal…
There are several $3 printables out for Huggies here and here… print ’em! (Here’s are links to a $2 printable and another $2 printable if either of those $3 coupons hit their print limits quickly… and the 4/17 SS2 has $2 and $1.50 Huggies coupons as well.)
There’s also a Huggies STORE coupon in the 3/27 SS2 for another FREE $5 Target gift card if you’re buying Little Movers. For this example, that’s what we’ll use… so:
Buy two big boxes of Huggies Little Movers ($39.98.) Use two $3 printables (now $33.98) and the additional coupon for another $5 gift card for buying two Little Movers.
Pay $33.98 and get TWO $5 gift cards back – $23.98 for two big boxes of Huggies is $11.99 each – nearly half off the regular price!
—–
And while we’re at it, here’s a Luvs deal too. Luvs Big Pack boxes are $16.99 each. Buy two and get a $5 Target gift card. The new 5/1 PG has a $1 off Luvs coupon. With two $1 coupons, pay $31.98 and get a $5 gift card back – $26.98 for two is $13.49 per box.
Similar to the diaper deals, Target is also running a free $5 gift card deal when you buy 2 selected P&G products. The least expensive way to do this deal is with Bounty 8-roll multipacks. These are the 8-big-roll (“equal to 12 rolls!”) packs and are on sale for $9.99 each. Buy 2 and get a $5 Target gift card.
The 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book has a $1 Bounty manufacturer coupon in it, and there’s a .25 manufacturer coupon in the 5/1 PG insert for your second multipack of Bounty. If you received the 5/1 Target/P&G store coupon insert, there’s a coupon inside for a FREE single roll of Bounty with purchase of multipack, OR free 24oz. Dawn Dish Detergent with a multipack of Bounty Extra Soft. As you’re buying two multipacks of Bounty, you can use both of these (or if you got multiple inserts, choose whichever offer you like better and use two of those coupons.)
Ready for the math? After manufacturer coupons, you’ll pay $18.73 and get a $5 gift card back – ultimately, $13.73 for 24 rolls of Bounty (.86 per roll) plus either 2 more free rolls of Bounty, 2 more free bottles of Dawn, or one of each!
—–
Another way to do the deal… if you need Tide, do a Bounty-and-Tide deal. Stay with the first 8-roll pack of Bounty, the $1 manufacturer coupon for it, and the FREE Bounty roll or Dawn when you buy Bounty Multipack coupons from the above scenario. Add a gigantic 150-oz. liquid Tide ($18.99.) There’s a $1 manufacturer coupon for the Tide in the 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book. The 5/1 Target/P&G store coupon insert has a “Buy 140oz. Tide, get FREE 10ct. Stain Release” store coupon to stack here.
So, after coupons, you’re looking at $26.98 for the 8-roll Bounty, another single roll of Bounty OR a bottle of Dawn, the 150-oz. Tide and a 10ct. Tide Stain Release. Pay $26.98 and get $5 back – $21.98 for everything. Considering the giant bottle of Tide was $18.99 when we started, you’re paying just $2.99 more than that for all of the other “bonuses.”
AquaFresh Kids’ Toothbrushes are FREE after a coupon stack! They’re on sale for $1.99 at most Target stores. Use the $1 AquaFresh Kids toothbrush coupon from 4/17 RP1 and stack it with the $1 Target store printable from their site. You’ll pay… nothing! It’s FREE!
Reader Bernard2003 spotted a great deal on John Frieda Precision Foam Haircolor. It’s on sale for a pricey $11.99 each.
Target’s site has a printable store coupon for $5 off John Frieda haircolor (limit 1 per transaction.) Stack this with the $5 coupon from the 5/1 SS1. You’ll pay $1.99!
Got another 5/1 SS1 insert? John Frieda Precision Foam haircolor is involved in a gift card deal too. Buy two and get a $5 Target gift card (sounding familiar?)
With two $5 manufacturer coupons and the one $5 Target store coupon, here’s how it looks…
Two John Frieda = $23.98)
Minus two $5 manufacturer coupons and one $5 Target coupon: $8.98
Pay $8.98 and get a $5 Target gift card back – $3.98 for two, or again, $1.99 per box… but now you got two in the same transaction. Now, if you got the Target Beauty Bag from the mail-away offer a few weeks ago, reader Mugsy24 points out that there is another $5 Target store coupon inside for the John Frieda haircolor… and this one is NOT one per transaction. Use it here too, pay $3.98 and get $5 back… all free and a moneymaker!
Here’s a deal on Tostito’s Chips, Dip, and Pepsi! Tostito’s Chips and Dip are $2.50 each. Use the $1 off Tostitos Chips or Dip coupon from the 5/1 PEPSI and pay $1.50. If you got two 5/1 inserts, you can make this deal even better. Buy one chips and one dip, and use one $1 coupon on each package. Then, use the FREE Pepsi Max when you buy Tostitos chips and dip coupon from the 5/1 PEPSI. You’ll pay $3.00 for everything!
Early-season sunscreen deal… not super-cheap, but this early in the year, it’s also difficult to find hot deals on it, and I”ve received some emails asking for sunscreen deals. So, Aveeno Active Naturals sunscreens are on sale for $10 each. Buy two and get a $5 Target gift card back. The 4/17 SS1 and 3/27 SS2 both have $3-off-2 Aveeno Active Naturals coupons. Cut one of those, and then stack it with the $1 Aveeno Target store printable from their site. You’ll pay $16 and get a $5 gift card back – paying $11 for two, or $5.50 each.
UPDATE! Several readers have reported that some varieties of Aveeno are $8.99, not $10 — and as of right now, the deal’s triggering TWO $5 gift cards, one for each Aveeno! If it works for you, here’s the deal…
Two $8.99 Aveeno ($17.98) minus $3-off-2 manufacturer coupon and $1 store coupon = $13.98
Minus two $5 Target gift cards = $3.98 for two, or $1.99 each! SUPER deal!
Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Revlon Nail Tools (files, clippers, etc.) are priced around the $2-$2.50 mark at most Targets. Use the $2 off any Revlon Beauty Tool coupon from 4/17 SS1 and pay $0-.50!

- Limes are .25 each
- Avocados are $1.25 each

Remember too that you get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
Here’s a fantastic deal on Cottonelle bath tissue 12-roll packs. They’re on sale for $5 each, but they’re also part of a monthly Catalina promotion – buy 2, get $3 back; buy 3, get $4 back. There are also some good coupons out for these, which we’re going to use to knock the price down even more.
Grab the new May monthly Walgreens store coupon book (on wire racks near the door of the store.) There’s a $1 store coupon for Cottonelle inside, which you can stack with a manufacturer coupon. So, print some .50 printables here and here.
Ready to put the deal together? Buy 2 Cottonelle 12-packs ($10.) The $1 store coupon will automatically deduct $1 from each package when scanned (now $8.) Use two .50 printables for your two packages (now $7.) Pay $7 for 2 and get a $3 Catalina – $4 for 2 packages is $2 each.. for 12-roll Cottonelle! A steal!
GUM Eez-Thru Flossers are FREE after Register Rewards! They’re on sale for $2 a package. Buy them and get $2 back in Register Rewards, making them FREE!
Fixodent Denture Cleanser is free after Register Rewards and a coupon. It’s on sale for $3.99. Buy it and get $1 back in Register Rewards! Make this better with coupons… the 5/1 PG has a $3 coupon. With this, pay .99 and get $1 back, making this FREE! Or, get TWO for the price of none… buy a second box and use the B1G1F coupon from 4/10 RP on that second package. Again, pay .99 for two and get $1 back… TWO free!
Optimum Care Hair Relaxer is on sale for $6.99. Buy it and get $5 back in Register Rewards! Use a coupon to make this free after the deal! With this $2 printable, you’ll pay $4.99 and get $5 back in RRs, making this FREE!
FREE razor alert! Noxzema 4-packs of disposable razors are on sale for $3.99. Buy a package and get $3 back in Register Rewards! Use a coupon to make this a better deal… the 5/1 RP has a $2 coupon. With it, pay $1.99 and get $3 back… FREE razors and a moneymaker!
(And, if you’ve bought these razors before in a past deal, check the packages – many have a $1 or $2 coupon on the back cardboard piece.)
Cheap razor alert! Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide razors are on sale for $9.89. Buy one and get $5 back in Register Rewards! Use a coupon to make this an even better buy… the new 5/1 PG has a $4 coupon for the Gillette Fusion razor. With it, pay $5.89 and get $5 back in RRs… and you have yourself a very “expensive,” .89 razor!
Reader jen120976 points out that if you received the P&G “Have You Tried This” mailer recently, there is a $5 coupon for the razor inside. With this, buy it, pay $4.89 and get $5 back… FREE and a little moneymaker!
MORE cheap razors alert! Bic Flex, Comfort, Hybrid, or Soleil 3-6 packs are on sale for $5.99. Buy a pack and receive $2 back in RRs. Use a $3 coupon to make this deal better… there’s a $3 off Bic in the 4/10 SS and $3 off Soleil in 5/1 SS2. With either coupon, pay $2.99 and get $2 back, making your razor multipack just .99!
Right Guard Body Wash is super-cheap after a coupon! Right Guard Total Defense body wash is on sale Buy One, Get One Free ($4.99 at most stores.) There’s a B1G1F coupon in the 5/1 RP that’s good up to a $4.49 value.
As the price of the first bottle is $4.99, but the coupon’s worth $4.49, you’ll pay .50 for your first bottle. The second bottle is free with the store’s sale. Two for .50 is .25 each… and that’s a deal in my book!
Mini Super-Couponing lesson: Why does this work? Remember, it’s important to think of your coupons AS cash. In a Buy One Get One Free sale at Walgreens, the first bottle of Right Guard’s price is $4.99, and the second bottle’s price is $0.00. Your Buy One Get One Free coupon pays for the price of the first bottle, up to the maximum value of the coupon. In this case, the coupon’s value is $4.49, less than the selling price, so you pay the difference (.50). The store’s B1G1F sale makes the second Right Guard FREE. If you like learning coupon tips like these, check out my Super-Couponing workshop or DVD!
If you like Right Guard but would rather have cheap deodorant this week, Right Guard Total Defense antiperspirant/deodorant is on sale for $2.99. Buy it and get $2 back in RRs. Use the same Buy One, Get One Free coupon from the previous deal (5/1 PG) – pay $2.99 for 2 and get $2 back. You’ll pay .99 for two, or about .50 each!
This is also on sale at CVS too, but you’ll pay .25 each doing the same deal… read on if you’re headed there too…
Another diaper deal? Walgreens Jumbo Packs of diapers are on sale for $5.99 each. If you have the Walgreens Infant Care coupon book (free in stores throughout this year) there is a coupon inside for $2 off the Walgreens Jumbo packs. With it, you’ll pay just $3.99 for the jumbo pack!
Orbit and Mentos Gum are both on sale for $1. For Orbit, buy two and use the $1-off-2 from the 4/17 SS2. You’ll pay $1 for two, or .50 each! For the Mentos, use the .35 coupon from 3/20 SS. You’ll pay .65 for your Mentos gum…
Here’s a deal on Tostito’s Chips, Dip, and Pepsi! Tostito’s Chips and Dip are $2.99 each. Use the $1 off Tostitos Chips or Dip coupon from the 5/1 PEPSI and pay $1.99. If you got two 5/1 inserts, you can make this deal even better. Buy one chips and one dip, and use one $1 coupon on each package. Then, use the FREE Pepsi Max when you buy Tostitos chips and dip coupon from the 5/1 PEPSI. You’ll pay $3.98 for everything!
This combination deal is just a little cheaper at Target this week, if that interests you…

Ditto on the Bounty “regular” 8-roll package (not the 8=12 roll that’s on sale elsewhere.) This is on sale for $7.99. Buy it and get $2 back in ECBs. Use the $1 coupon from the 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book. You’ll pay $6.99 and get $2 back, knocking this to $4.99.
Of course, there’s a .25 coupon in the 5/1 PG too, but… higher-value is, of course, better.
Right Guard Total Defense antiperspirant/deodorant is on sale for $2.49 at CVS too. Buy it and get $2 back in ECBs. Use the same Buy One, Get One Free coupon from the previous deal (5/1 PG) – pay $2.49 for 2 and get $2 back. You’ll pay .49 for two, or about .25 each!
In the reader-wish-list category, I’ve had quite a few requests come in this week for deals on Cascade and toilet cleaner. Happy to oblige… first, the Cascade:
CVS is running a “Spend $10, get $3” deal on several P&G products. Cascade 75oz. gel or powder, or 16-20ct. Action Pacs are on sale for $4. If you have the 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book AND the “Home Made Simple” coupon book (home mailers) grab them and follow along…
You’ll need the $1 Cascade coupon from the P&G book and the .50 Cascade coupon from Home Made Simple. Because we need to come as close to $10 as possible, we’ll use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser twinpack as a filler (it’s cheap, at $3.) There’s a $1.50 coupon for this in the 5/1 PG.
Let’s put the deal together… 2 Cascade plus 1 Mr. Clean is $11.
Minus $1 and .50 Cascade coupons, minus $1.50 Mr. Clean coupon = $8
Pay $8 and get $3 back in ECBs… $5 for 2 Cascades is $2.50 each – great price for Cascade! Plus, “free” Mr. Clean!
—
And now, cheap toilet cleaner. Soft Scrub Toilet Bath and Bowl is $1.99 a bottle. Soft Scrub’s site has a $1.50 printable (you do need to register, then click “Member Exclusive Offers.”) With coupon, pay .49!
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

Old El Paso Refried Beans (16oz. cans) are $1. Buy two and use this .60 printable. You’ll pay $1.40 for two, or .70 a can…
Suepr Walmart Seafood Deal: 2lb. bags of frozen Tilapia fillets are $6.98 – that’s $3.49/lb., good price.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
Van Camp’s Pork and Beans (15oz. cans) are .50 each.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Nivea body wash is $3 at Walmart. With the $3 coupon from the 4/17 RP2, it’s FREE!
FREE Gain Dishwashing Liquid: The P&G $110 Everyday Savings coupon mailer contains a coupon for $1 off Gain Dishwashing Liquid. Walmart sells Gain for .97 (exp. 6/30/11)
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.” I have heard from one reader who used a $3 Register Reward on a $2.49 copy of All You magazine and DID receive change, in cash.
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?
I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.
However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I’m aware of great coupon matchups, you’ll find those here too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Hubby went to go do a deal for me (Stupid toothache) and the Wag’s staff told him that he can’t roll a cat for the same product, that it won’t continue to print. So if I use a Razor RR on a Razor, it won’t print another RR. I thought maybe the staff person was wrong and then I saw someone else was told that same thing in another Wag’s from another group I read. Is this always the way and I just didn’t know? Is this new?
TIA!!!!!

For those of you with FB. You can go to the Kool-Aid page(https://www.facebook.com/koolaid?sk=app_190915117595555), like it, and then fill out the form and then get a printable for $.50 off 5. Print 2 of these and use with the B10G5 and you pay nothing :)

Hi everyone, I am kind of a n00b- do Always pads and pantliners go on sale? I wanted to know if I should hold on to those coupons or go ahead and use them.
My first time coming here for this post while I had inserts, couldn’t believe it was up when I woke up on the East Coast, thank you!

We ran a different deal on the Target Bounty. We used one store coupon for $1 off a 6pk or larger. Another store coupon from 5/1 Target insert for a free roll of Extra Soft Bounty with the purchase of a 6pk or larger and then 3 .25 off Bounty cpns from the 5/1 PG. Add it all together and our total was $14.45 after the $5 gift card. Since the big packs equal 12 standard 52 sheet rolls we really in total got the equivalent of 25 (factoring in the free Extra Soft) making it .578 per roll!

Just returned from Jewel where I purchased 3 boxes of Cap’n Crunch as well as several other of the deals. The cereal rang up as 4.19 a box less 1.20 preferred savings for a net of 2.99. Then the store coupon only took off one $1.00 rather than $1.00 per box. I only used one store coupon assuming it would make each box of cereal $1.99 but it looks like I needed to use 3 Jewel store coupons (one for each box purchased) to receive the 1.99 price. Doesn’t work like Walgreens store coupons.

Meijer has a deal this week where if you buy 4 Hormel Kids Compleats meals, you can get a free gallon of milk. A few weeks ago, I had picked up some coupons off of tearpads at Jewel for $.75/1 on these meals, and Meijer has them for $1.50 each. I pickd up four meals and a gallon of milk for $3. Really good deal in my opinion.

Here’s a deal that was done yesterday…Tropicana OJ is on sale at CVS for $2.99 and is also part of a ECB deal where if you spend $15 get $5 ECB. If you happen to have two 5/1 PEPSI inserts, buy 6 cartons of OJ for $17.94 less $4.00(2*$2.00)= $13.94. Then you will earn $5 ECB, making it $8.94 for 6 cartons, which comes out to $1.49 a carton!

The Life cereal store coupons are only coming off one time per order. I bought 6 boxes of cereal yesterday, used 6 store coupons and 2 of the $2 off 3 manufacturer coupons. A manager had to override 5 of the store coupons and told me I was using too many(!). So if you try this – beware, it’s a major hassle.

At my Target on the shelves, it also said Buy 2, get a $10 gift card. I was able to buy two at 8.99 each, plus use the $3.00/2 and two 1.00 Target coupons. It came to 1.50 each – can’t beat that!

All of the 2,000 participants in Sunday’s Half Marathon in Palos Heights, IL should have received (3) Meijer coupons for $10 off your purchase of $30 of more. If you know of someone who ran, ask them if they will be using theirs. I think they expire on the 15th of May. It’s a nice chunk of change!

Just so no one wastes a trip, Jewel in McHenry is out of Sun Chips and the split chicken breasts, although they did have thighs, drumsticks and leg quarters still. And there were only three kiwis to be had in the entire store. The only Lipton Iced Teas left were diet flavors if that makes a difference to anyone.
And Walgreen’s still had Head and Shoulders products left but very spotty selection. IE: one type of shampoo but no corresponding conditioner.

Few weeks back I received Catalinas for free eggs after shopping at Dominicks. The catalina says manufacturer coupon on it but has the Dominicks logo. Jill –
I wanted to thank you for doing what you do for us all each and every week. I Hit Walgreens on Sunday and got some amazing deals. Tonight went to Jewel and got all of the following items for just $3.00 out of pocket and received 6.00 off of my next order at Jewel. Keep in mind I used Walgreens Register Rewards plus the coupons that you advised us to use on each of the products below:
3 Large Boxes of Captain Crunch
6 Cartons of Tropicana OJ
3 Rolls of Scott Paper Towels
3 Scott Wipes
4 3 packs of Ivory Soap
8 Packs of Stride Gum
Soap and Scott Wipes are going to my stockpile that I’m donating to the Alabama Tornado Victims, along with a bunch of stuff that I picked up at Walgreens on Sunday.
Not only have you helped my family (single mom raising two sons), but you have allowed me to pay it forward. I can’t thank you enough!! Your an AMAZING individual!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’ve noticed on here that people have alternative uses for denture creams. This may be off-topic, but I just wanted to comment on a potential danger of overuse of some denture creams. Some creams contain zinc, and studies have indicated a possible link that overuse over long periods of time of these certain creams can lead to nuerological and hematological problems. I am sure no one is using it excessively for their canker sores, but I just thought it is something people should know. I am not a medical professional by any means, so I will just provide a link for you guys to check it out if you so wish. https://www.ada.org/3212.aspx

My CVS didn’t have any Magic Erasers so I didn’t cash in on that deal with the Cascade this week. But I did discover some good info. The Magic Erasers at CVS came in a 2 pack for $3. Target sells them for $3.49 for a 4 pack. Also, the Target brand dishwashing gel is regularly priced at $2.79 for a 75 oz. bottle. So when I can’t cash in on a good Cascade deal, I just buy Target brand and I find that it washes my dishes just fine. Target has Chex Mix on sale for $1.79 – from what I gather, that’s already a decent price. Target has an online coupon for $0.50 off 2 and there’s also a mfg coupon out there (sorry, clipped and used before noting where I got it) for $1.00 off 2.

I am willing to use almost any brand for nearly everything. But I am pretty loyal to Dry Idea Deodorant. Dove just doesn’t cut it (so to speak), although I have enjoyed my free Secret! Sadly, there are seldom coupons for Dry Idea. But right now at Walgreens, Dry Idea is on sale for $2.99 w/$2.00 RR = 99-cents. Make it even better with the Buy One Get One Free coupon from 5/1 RP. Although I prefer the roll-on and the stick is the one that is on sale, for this price I will make the switch as long as I am still getting Dry Idea. TWO regular size deodorants for 99-cents! I am a happy couponer!
Now if I could only find a coupon for RenPure Organics Hair Care products. Walgreens has some of their products on sale and I’d love to try them, especially the Moroccan Oil product. My hair is really dry right now.

Head & Shoulders – 2 for $8.00 – there is a B1G1 coupon in the 4/17R2 – that’s $4.00 off – so now it’s 2 for $4.00 – but then there is a $2.00 Register Reward, so you can get Head & Shoulders for $1.00/bottle!
Also a good deal on Skinny Cow/Lean Pockets – there is a coupon in the 4/17S1 – it’s a WALGREEN’S (not manufacturer’s) coupon – for $1.00 off if you buy 1 Lean Pocket and 1 Skinny Cow. Lean Pockets are on sale for 2.50 each – but if you buy two, you get back a $1.00 Register Reward – Skinny Cow is on sale for $2.50 a box/carton – there is a 50-cent Skinny Cow coupon in the April AY – but I used mine already. . . So I got two boxes of Lean Pockets and one box of Skinny Cow for $5.50 after my 1.00 coupon and my 1.00 RR.
Lysol Wipes – all 35-count cannisters are $3.59 B1G1 – there is a $1.00 off 2 coupon in the 4/17S2 – that’s $2.59 for two or $1.30 a cannister – and you can do multiples of these in the same order.
