Hello, Super-Couponers, and welcome to another week of great deals! It’s been a busy week around the blog and in coupon world. This week, I stocked up on bargain-priced summer clothing, and our family planted our garden. In couponing news, we learned that inmates were running a counterfeit coupon ring; a Harvard study noted that people who look at coupons and don’t use them still cause a 60% rise in sales; the ASPCA has teamed up with TLC’s “Extreme Couponing” for its new season, and Walmart’s trying to get people excited about a 13% savings if you shop at their store. (But we know better!)
This week’s blog giveaway may give you several weeks’ worth of breakfasts… FREE! Two readers will each win TWO Club Packs (that’s four total boxes each!) of Cheerios cereal!

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load Jewel Avenu ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed, and the Sept. 2011 coupon policy is still correct for all stores. Watch your registers.
Buddig Deli Cuts Lunchmeat (3-4oz.) is on sale for $1. Buy four and use the .75-off-4 coupon from the 4/22 SS. You’ll pay $3.25 for four, or about .81 each.
Reader EZtupp spotted a good deal on Classico Pasta Sauces. They’re on sale for $2 each this week at Jewel, and when you buy two red sauces, you’ll get a FREE Alfredo sauce. The new 5/6 SS has a $1-off-2 Classico coupon. With one coupon, pay $3 for 3 sauces, or $1 each.
This deal is even better with more coupons though. With three $1-off-2 coupons, buy 6 jars (four red and two Alfredo, $8.) Use THREE $1-off-2 coupons, and pay $5 for 6 jars, or .83 each!
Jewel’s weekly ad has a store coupon for $3 off 3 American Greetings cards on the front page of the Osco pullout at center. It is good on cards priced $1.99 or more. Still, that’s $2.97 for three with coupon or .99 each.
De Wafelbakkers Pancakes (23-60ct.) are on sale for $3.99, Buy One Get One Free. Use two $1 Facebook printables and pay $1.99 for two, or about $1 each!
Stash Tea Bags (18-20ct.) are on sale for $2. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from 2/5 RP. You’ll pay $3 for two, or $1.50 each.
Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts (8ct.) are on sale for $2. Buy three and use this .50 printable and/or this $1-off-2 printable to drop these to $1.50 per box. (Note that after the same coupon, these are .99 a box this week at Dominick’s and $1 per box at Walgreens though.)
Want more? Use this $1-off-3 printable. You’ll pay $5 for three, or about $1.67 each.
Palermo Primo Thin Crust Pizzas are on sale for $7.99, B1G1F. Buy two and use two $1 coupons from the 3/25 SS or printables. You’ll pay $5.99 for two, or about $3 each!
The same front page of the Osco pullout has an ad for a FREE $25 Jewel-Osco gift card with new or transferred pharmacy prescription, and any $25 Gift Card Mall gift card with 3 additional prescriptions. Good deal! This one runs through 8/31/12.
There is a new “Spend $20, Save $5” sale running on a variety of products. Note that this deal is on POST coupon totals, and it’s even trickier because the included items are also on sale Buy 2 Get 1 Free this week, though many of the items’ prices are not noted in the ad.
The Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic sunscreens aren’t bad if you need them. They’re on sale for $8.99, B2G1F. The 4/22 SS has $1 coupons for both, and there’s a $1 Hawaiian Tropic printable too.
So, buy three bottles ($17.98.) Use three $1 coupons (now $14.98.) We need some fillers to get to $20 post-coupon, and I’m liking the Reach toothbrushes as cheapies because they also have a separate Catalina tied to them through 5/13. When you buy two, you’ll get $1 back; three, you’ll get $2 back; and four or more, you’ll get a $3 Catalina back.
See how many Reach coupons from the 3/4 RP you have. (Remember, our post-coupon total needs to stay over $20!) Add these to your sunscreens.
With no coupons, buy three Reach toothbrushes (now $20.98.) Pay $20.98 and get a $5 Catalina and a $2 Catalina. That’s $13.98 for three sunscreens, or $4.66 each – plus three “free” toothbrushes.
With one $1 coupon, buy four Reach toothbrushes (now $21.98.) Pay $21.98 and get a $5 Catalina and a $3 Catalina. Again, that’s $13.98 for three sunscreens, or $4.66 each – plus four “free” toothbrushes.
Now, as adding more toothbrushes at this point does not trigger another Catalina, that deal is pretty good as it stands. But if you used 4 $1 Reach coupons, you’d be at $18.98. You could another toothbrush in, pay $20.98 and get a $5 Catalina and a $3 Catalina. That’s $12.98 for three sunscreens, or $4.33 each – plus five “free” toothbrushes.

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Pantene’s good to work in because of the B1G1F coupon in the 4/29 PG. If you have four coupons, buy eight Pantene ($28.) Add a Bounty 8-giant-roll pack OR a Charmin 18-double-roll pack for $10.49, and you’re at $38.49. Throw in a tube of Crest Toothpaste ($2.50) and you’re at $40.99. Use four B1G1F Pantene coupons, a .25 Bounty or Charmin coupon, and a .25 Crest coupon, all also from the 4/29 PG.

DEAL IDEAS:
I’m liking the Playtex tampons here. The 16-count boxes are included in the “Spend $25” deal too, even though their price isn’t in the ad. At my CVS, these were $5.29. Buy two $7.99 36-40ct. boxes and two $5.29 16ct. boxes (now $26.56.) Use two B1G1F coupons for the small boxes (now $15.98.) Pay $15.98 and get $10 back in ECBs – that’s $5.98 for four boxes of Playtex, or about $1.50 per box
Note that CVS’s coupon policy no longer allows you to use a dollar-off coupon on the first item in a B1G1F situation, or this deal would be even a little sweeter — but this is still good.
Or, if you need sunscreen, try this. Grab two sunscreens of your choice ($7.99 each,) plus one Playtex 36-40ct. and one Playtex 16ct. (now $29.26.) Use two $1 sunscreen coupons and the B1G1F Playtex coupon. Pay $21.97 and get $10 back. That’s $11.97 for four items, or about $2.99 each.
There’s a deal running on Huggies too this week. Spend $25 on the following Huggies items and get $10 back in ECBs! Here are your products and matchups:
Huggies Baby Wipes – $168-184ct. – $6
– $2 off Huggies Snug & Dry diapers AND wipes – printable
– $2 off Huggies Hawaiian diapers AND wipes – printable
Huggies Big Box diapers – $20
– $2 off Little Movers or Little Snugglers – 4/15 SS2
– $1.50 off – 4/15 SS2
– $2 off Huggies Snug & Dry diapers AND wipes – printable
– $2 off Huggies Hawaiian diapers AND wipes – printable
Huggies Jumbo Pack diapers or Pull-Ups – $10
– $2 off Little Movers or Little Snugglers – 4/15 SS2
– $1.50 off – 4/15 SS2
– $2 off Huggies Snug & Dry diapers AND wipes – printable
– $2 off Huggies Hawaiian diapers AND wipes – printable
Easy deal: Buy one big box and one jumbo pack ($30.) If they’re Little Movers, use two $2 coupons. Pay $26 and get $10 back in ECBs. That’s $16 for two, or $8 each… not a great price for the jumbo, but indeed a great price for the big box.
Atkins Diet fans will like this next deal! 5ct. Atkins bars and 4ct. Atkins shakes are all Buy 1 Get 1 50% off. They are $7.99, so if you buy two, one will be $7.99 and the other will be $3.99. They’re also part of a “Spend $30, Get $10 in Extracare Bucks” deal!
So, buy 6 boxes of bars = $35.94.
The 3/11 SS has TWO $1 coupons. If you happen to have six of them, pay $29.94 and get $10 back. That’s $19.94 for 6 boxes, or about $3.32 each.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
This one’s only on in-store signage, but who doesn’t want free toilet paper? CVS is selling single rolls of Cottonelle Toilet Paper inside a Jonathan Adler-designed toilet paper holder. It’s a little round canister with geometric designs/prints on it. The canister AND single roll sell for $1.99, with $1.99 back in Extra Care Bucks, making it FREE! This ECB offer runs through 5/26/12.
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

First, where are those small bags of pistachios at Meijer? I must have walked around the Bloomingdale Meijer for a good 15 minutes on Thursday trying to find them (my husband loves pistachios almost as much as bacon. Checked the nut aisle and the display in the produce section. Any help would be appreciated!
CVS has a sale on Physician’s Formula makeup where every item is $5 off. That makes the concealer stick just $0.99. Use your $1 off any Physician’s Formula coupon and it is free! Also, if you got $3 off Physician’s Formula from the magical coupon machine last week you can stack it to get some of the higher items for a great price. I got the $9.99 Organic Wear mascara for $0.99! Did both of these deals at the CVS in Glendale Heights with no problem this morning. FYI: I’m not sure which insert the coupons came from. There are some that expire at the end of May and some in June that came out more recently.
Also, if you got $1 any deodorant from that magical coupon machine last week, you can stack it with the Mitchum coupon and get it for free!

Has anyone done this Playtex deal (as Jill wrote above) at CVS and received the ECBs? :
“The 16-count boxes are included in the “Spend $25″ deal too, even though their price isn’t in the ad. At my CVS, these were $5.29. Buy two $7.99 36-40ct. boxes and two $5.29 16ct. boxes (now $26.56.) Use two B1G1F coupons for the small boxes (now $15.98.) Pay $15.98 and get $10 back in ECBs – that’s $5.98 for four boxes of Playtex, or about $1.50 per box”
I want to try it, but happened to see on hip2save.com, where someone commented that it didn’t work for them, and the ECBs had to be manually printed.

Quaker Chewy Granola Bars or Yogurt Granola Bars on sale for $1.88; sale ends 5/8. I believe you could use coupon 04-29 Pepsi $0.75 /2.
Kraft Puffed Marshmallows on sale 10 for 10; sale ends 5/29. Use coupon 05-06 S $0.50/2 If your location doubles, you pay $1.00 for 2 bags.

Does anyone knows if these still come out to be free with store coupon and the manufacture coupon at Walgreens?

Did anyone’s Common Kindness’ coupons print without a bar code? Mine has numbers under the picture of the product and that’s it. I really don’t think Doms is going to accept this…or any other store for that matter!

Why wouldn’t Walgreens accept my $1.00 off kids Aquafresh .99 toothpaste? The cashier said that the coupon cannot exceed the cost of the item. Is this true?
