Can you believe August is right around the corner? I hope you’ve been enjoying your summer as much as we have. We’ve spent many so many days outdoors — between park days, pool days, beach days and scout camp days, we’ve been packing lots of coolers for lunches on the go.
Earlier this summer, Carl Buddig and Company asked me to partner with them as a Buddig Deli Mom and create some meals and snacks with deli meats that aren’t sandwiches! Last month, I shared our ham and cheese quesadillas (still a big favorite with my kids!) and this time, we decided to mix some of our favorite flavors together for a sweet, savory treat.
Ham, Apple, & Cheese Roll-Ups
Ingredients:
- Apple (I used Fuji)
- Buddig Premium Black Forest Ham
- Sliced Provolone cheese
- 1 TBSP maple syrup
- 1 TBSP water
- Toothpicks
With a mandolin or flat-blade food slicer, slice the apple into very thin slices. Mix the maple syrup with the water in a small bowl.
Lay a piece of Provolone on your work surface. Next, lay a piece of Buddig Premium Ham on top. Use a basting brush to apply a very light layer of the maple water (it’s yummy, but it also helps prevent the apple slices from browning too.)
Layer apple slices on top of the ham slice. Brush again with maple water.
Gently roll the stack up with the Provolone cheese on the outside. Secure with a toothpick and serve, or pack in a refrigerated container for a not-a-sandwich lunch on the go!
It only takes a little creativity to make more than a sandwich, and we’re thinking about more meals and snacks to make with Buddig meats! Did you know that Carl Buddig & Company is family-owned? Their mission is to make meals and snacks more delicious for families around the country, offering premium deli meats without a premium price.

Carl Budding was a favorite of mine growing up as a kid. Then years later when I was working full time & going to college at night, I’d fill the meat bin in the fridge with them, It was a great source of protein that kept longer than sliced meat from the deli.
Now, I’d like to try these new varieties again, since at work we are preparing for the busy holiday season, and I usually spend many lunches working away at my desk when I’m in the office or the days I’m at working remote at home or in vacationing in another city and too busy to make something that takes more than 2 minutes to prepare. Or can put together a quick sandwich of energy carbs & protein.
I’d put Budding on my Brownbury bread from Dollar Tree. $1 – 55 cent coupon – 25 cent Ibotta bread = 20 cents a loaf. :*)
Thanks for posting a chance on winning free food!

Thanks for the recipe idea. I use Budding ham and cheese to make a great game appetizer in the oven. Just brush a little sweet mustard on top of Hawaiian roll filled with ham and cheese. Yum

Hey, I notice Becky eats these on Hawaiian rolls, too, lol. Seriously, I love Buddig’s (especially corned beef) on King’s Hawaiian Bread or Rolls. Add some great Swiss Cheese (melted) and caramelized onion for a really tasty treat.
Becky says
We love Buddig, especially the regular beef flavor. We make a white buttery sauce and mix with it and put over toast. A very good meal and inexpensive too!

Buddig ham with lettuce, tomato, cheese, mustard, mayo on a flat bread.

When I was a kid we used to roll sandwich meat and cheese into a tortilla. Pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and you have a warm sandwich that you can eat without a plate, because tortillas don’t make crumbs the way bread does.

My favorite use for Buddig meats is still the old army staple of S*!# on a Shingle (or Cream chipped beef as it is politely called) or the cream cheese & beef spread. Also, love to use the meats in my boys lunches for homemade lunchables or on the Hawaiian rolls with a piece of cheese, brush the tops with brown sugar butter & put in oven till melty. Mmmmmmm…….
