We were near the Johnsburg JC Penney store this weekend, so we popped in for a few minutes to check out the clearance situation after I discovered some bargains at the Algonquin store last week. I got a 20% off entire purchase coupon via text too, which is always nice when you’re sale-shopping.
This trip didn’t disappoint! Johnsburg had quite a few more racks and shelves of clearanced boys’ clothing. Here’s what I bought:
- Four solid-color blue and orange polo shirts: $2.97 each. (My sons wanted these so they can dress alike – yes, they are still young enough to enjoy doing that! Aww.) After coupon, $2.38 each.
- Two pairs of tropical-print cotton shorts: $2.97 each. After coupon, $2.38 each.
- Two pairs of plaid cotton shorts: $2.97 each. After coupon, $2.38 each.
- One pair of denim shorts: $3.97. After coupon, $3.18.
- Two button-front cotton shirts: $2.97 each. After coupon, $2.38 each.
- Five cotton T-shirts: $2.97 each. After coupon, $2.38 each.
- One cotton T-shirt: $1.97. After coupon, $1.58.
And, my most exciting find:
- Three pairs of 100% cotton sweat pants: $6.99 each. After coupon, $6.39 each. (I bought a pair in every size! These have been so hard to find at good prices. And, they’re still $16 per pair online. Strangely, their site doesn’t note they are 100% cotton, so I wouldn’t have ordered them unless I knew for certain what they were made of. Well, bring on the camping trips for the next few years now! :)
As I shopped, my husband found a leather wallet on clearance for $5.97. After coupon, it was $4.78.

I love the Johnsburg JCP. It’s our closest one and has been known to have great clearance. We actually only buy when their down to the final clearance pricing ($0.97). About a month ago when we were there last my husband got a bunch of $0.97 character t-shirts.
