(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | a href=”https://www.dominicks.com”>Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Try it at www.Dominicks.com.

Are you a Meijer Mperks member? Mperks is a different set of electronic Meijer coupons. They’re attached to your cellphone number, but aside from one text message to activate your account, you do not need to use text messaging to continually use them. Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Gain dish detergent is .97 every day at Walmart. Use the .50 coupon from 8/14 RP and pay .47! (Through 9/30.)
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?
I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.
However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I’m aware of great coupon matchups, you’ll find those here too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Went today and they were still out of stock, but the shelf tag had changed to $9.99. (Which is what they were at Target the other day!) Teach me not to get a rain check…

Jill,
Are you sure about the Marcal toilet paper being on sale? You blogged it last week and it rang up $8.99. I looked in the ad and didn’t see it this week. I did see the paper towels 2/10 last week. If it is on sale it is a terrific deal- those packs are really heavy!!

Check your files for Kool-Aid coupons. I have a .55 coupon for the canisters which I believe might have been from that Kraft coupon book with the Nealy’s on the cover (found at Jewel a while back). I also found 1.00/2 coupons for Kool Aid canisters, Country Time lemonade, etc. that I picked up in a store somewhere. Definitely makes a great deal even better!

I went to Jewel yesterday to do my deals early and I did this one on the fly. The 12 pack glass bottles of Miller Lite are on sale for $7.99. On some of the boxes, there is a $5 instant coupon on the purchase when you buy two DiGiorno pizzas of 12″. Well, DiGiorno’s are on sale for 2/$12 and right by them (on the freezer aisle), there is a rebate peelie. You get $12.50 from Miller lite when you buy a 2 DioGiorno and a 12 pack case. So, overall, $20 for the pizzas and pack of beer – $5 instant savings – $12.50 for the rebate, $2.50 for everything!!!! There are no DiGiorno’s coupons that I could find. There is one in Facebook, but you have to submit a video catching a football. And I believe it is for $2 off 2 pizzas. So, if you have that one, you can pay $0.50 for EVERYTHING! Neverless to say, my husband was really happy. The rebate is one per household until 9/18.
I also did the swiffer deal since I missed the one last week. One starter $8.99. I also got refills for $5.39. Coupons used, $0.50 off the swiffer, $5 off for the refills (free refills when you buy a starter kit, up to $5 dollars) and $1.40 off each that was on my Avenu. Got $2 back. Total: $4.08 or $2.04 each which I believe is better than Wags deal last week.
Last, meat is on sale. Perdue and Jewel Chef’s kitchen breast are BOGO free. Once at checkout, they told me that the chicken things are on sale too, but there was nothing about it by the chicken aisle. I bought 4 packages and the free ones ended up being the 2 cheapest ones. I wanted to do it different to pay only $20, but when they did it like that, I paid $24 instead. (I bought a $12.64, $12.24, $10.60 and $9.60 or something like that. I put the $12 dollars one together, so the second 12 is free and the same with the other’s, but the cashier told me I could not do it that way…) Any how, ended up saving over 50%.
Happy shopping!!!

I am going to be near the Food 4 Less, Melrose Park store, and would like to take advantage of some of the deals. Does any one know, since they are a Kroger/Highlander chain, would the deals and coupon doubling stated here for Highlander work there as well? I love your site and followers, thanks for all you do. Happy Labor Day

In addition to the .55 cent off coupon that Jill mentions above my Jewel also had coupons for buy 1/2 lb meat or cheese get a 1/2 lb free up to $4.79. I used both coupons together and it took off the 4.79 even though both of my 1/2 lb purchases were below that amount.

Just a heads up. At the west side Algonquin Jewel the $10 Cat was not printing when buying $100 in gift cards. I bought the correct ones–BP Amoco $100 worth of them. Customer Service great and they got me my jewel gift card, but heard her say that the cat was not printing again and needed to get it fixed or fix it. Anyone else have problems today??

Today, I went to get the Simply Orange and the Everyday Essentials deal, but their prices have increased to $1.86 and $1.49, respectively. I don’t know if this is all Jewels but this is the one in Wilmette on Green Bay Rd. :(

Saw this on another site (slickdeals)-Target has Market Pantry Sauce & Dry Pasta on sale this week for $1 and a coupon on target.com for a dollar off wyb both-not bad! $1 for pasta and sauce sounds like a good start on a cheap dinner this week, eh? :)

Can someone tell me where can I find the Jewel Fresh For Fall coupon book? Went to Jewel last night and even asked couple of the employees and they didn’t know. The books are usually on display, but didn’t see anything this time. Help!

Meijer in Bloomingdale didn’t have any more PB since Saturday morning and they wouldn’t give a rainchek.
Also at Meijer is a great deal on Land o Lakes spreadable butter ( like at Dom, but there is limit 2). It is on sale $1.50, including the one with cinnamon, which has $.75/1 Q out there. No limit, and no rainchecks on the sign. Of course, I only saw the sign at Bloomingdale, the shelf was empty.

I think it has hit its print limit – it’s not on the coupons.com website. The lemonade one is still there.

I looked through all the posted specials from Jill and I don’t see any deal for Huggies. I only saw a deal for Luvs. Anyone know where they are on sale?
HappyMom88 says
Not sure if anyone posted this or not. Went Wednesday just after 1pm…
Target in Algonquin is clearancing out Crest and Colgate varieties of toothpaste. They are $.99 – $1.48 each. So, get your coupons ready OR NOT!
The Crest that is on clearance boasts $10 worth of coupons on the box. Purchase one at $.98 = $1.06 with tax. Then, open the box, take out the coupons located in the scope bonus pack on top. Use that Q to pay for your next box…$98 – $.75Q = $.31. Great DEAL!
Colgate has a 360 toothbrush in it. Not sure if that helps with any q’s.
They also have some Old Spice, Axe trials ($.70 each), and more. The clearance rack is located on an end cap facing the pharmacy bathroom door. The other end cap is located one or two isles from the trial sizes.
Spoke to a lot of employees about this while at the checkout…not sure how much will be left.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
HappyMom88 says
Meijer shelves have been cleared. However, they are offering a rain check. Before you go, make sure whether or not your Meijer will honor your store q that expires tonight at midnight. Mine will.

Just wanted to share with you all. I went to Walmart yesterday and I noticed Simply Orange and Simply Lemonade are on sale for a dollar. So if you have any coupons left you can use them there.
