Summer grilling season is in full swing at our house! These long summer nights are perfect for cooking and eating outdoors together as a family. I love grilling out whenever possible — the house stays cooler when we’re not cooking indoors, and food tastes so much better when it’s grilled over an open flame too!
As part of my partnership with Jewel-Osco, they asked me to share one of our family’s favorite grill recipes using O Organics® Free Range Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts. We love grilling shish kebabs, because there are so many ways to prepare them. Fruits and vegetables take on a sweet, smoky flavor on the grill, and chicken can be prepared so many ways!
I like using citrus juices in my marinades too, as it gives chicken a tangy flavor and helps tenderize the meat. For this recipe, the marinade’s orange juice is blended with honey, which helps caramelize the meat on the grill and give it a subtle sweetness.
Honey Citrus O Organics Chicken Shish Kebabs
- 2lbs. O Organics Free Range Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
- 1 1/2 cups O Organics orange juice
- 2 Tbs O Organics honey
- O Organics black pepper
- O Organics garlic powder
- Red bell pepper
- Green bell pepper
- Onion
- Pineapple
- Bamboo skewers
Soak six bamboo skewers in water. If you’re grilling with charcoal, light your grill.
Mix orange juice and honey in a bowl. Cube O Organics chicken breasts and marinate in the juice mixture for 30 minutes.
Slice and cube pineapple. Slice onion into wedges. Remove core and seeds from bell peppers and slice into wedges.
When chicken is finished marinating, remove skewers from water. Build your shish kebabs by alternating pieces of chicken with pepper and onion wedges and cubed pineapples. Shake O Organics black pepper and garlic powder over each kebab.
Place kebabs on lit grill and cover. Grill kebabs for about 12 to 15 minutes, rotating them every 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.
Yum! If you’re looking for a fun way to get your children to eat their vegetables, it doesn’t get much easier than this. When everyone gets their own skewer, dinnertime becomes a “finger food” too — no utensils required! Everyone can sit back and enjoy each tasty bite of their own kebab.

The best comparison I can give is the difference between grass-fed beef and traditionally-raised beef. There are different subtleties to the chicken’s flavor that our daughter picked up on too.
