Last week, I did some “MyMixx experimentation” with Jewel-Osco’s new digital MyMixx coupons. I planned a shopping trip specifically to answer readers’ questions, such as:
- “What happens if I you use paper coupon for the same item I have a MyMixx ecoupon for?”
(Answer: MyMixx takes priority over all paper coupons and automatically “kicks out” the paper coupon.) - “If I load a MyMixx coupon but I have a better (higher dollar value) paper coupon, how can I use that instead?”
(Answer: You cannot. There is no way to un-load a MyMixx digital offer, nor can the cashier override it.)
If you want to read the results of that post, as well as the rest of the readers’ questions and answers, that post is here.
- “Now we know MyMixx won’t let you use a paper coupon if you already have a MyMixx ecoupon loaded. What if you have the cashier scan your paper coupons first, then enter your MyMixx number? Does it let you use the higher value paper coupon then?”
As I was writing this week’s post, I had a question of my own too. Yesterday (2/17,) I noticed that Wednesday’s 2/18 ad referenced some MyMixx digital offers that were already loaded into MyMixx prior to this ad:
The 2/18/15 Jewel ad has a new notice too to “GET THESE OFFERS WHILE YOU CAN! LIMITED AVAILABILITY!” I could not tell if this means “If you used a MyMixx offer before this ad came out, you won’t get another.” So, I headed to the store yesterday to answer these questions.
– Two Red Baron pizzas ($3 each.) I used the $1-off-2 MyMixx digital offer and paid $5 for both.
– One New York garlic bread ($2.79.) Intentionally, I handed my cashier a .75 paper coupon and did not enter my MyMixx number until after she scanned the .75 coupon.
– One BODYARMOR beverage ($1.25.) I used the free BODYARMOR MyMixx digital offer and paid nothing for this.
– I also spotted some Febreze Air Effects on clearance for $1.14 each. I knew the recent P&G coupon insert has $2-off-2 paper coupons for these, so I opted not to load the MyMixx Febreze offer (.75 off one) because my paper coupons’ value is greater.
These were a spontaneous addition to my trip, so I post-redeemed three $2-off-2 coupons on today’s trip.
Here’s where things got interesting. I gave my cashier the .75 New York coupon and had her scan it. (I explained that I was trying to find out what happened if a paper coupon was scanned first, and then a customer entered their MyMixx number.) The register accepted the .75 coupon. Then, I entered my MyMixx number. Look what happened next:
Several readers have emailed & sent messages pointing out that the electronic receipts in MyMixx still don’t show any paper coupons used, and the MyMixx main screen also shows every receipt as containing “Items purchased: 0,” no matter how many you have purchased. I am seeing this in my MyMixx too:
- They are aware of the 0 item issue. It is a data issue coming from the database, and they are hoping to resolve in a week.
- With regard to paper coupons not appearing on the electronic receipts, the receipts displaying electronic item discounts, then all other discounts “is the best we could do in a start of phase one. We do have phase two and a more robust receipt plan in the future, thus why we still provide the paper receipt without the option to go digital only at this point.”
Today I returned to Jewel for another MyMixx trip. I was also curious to see if I would receive new Chef Boyardee and Red Baron offers on MyMixx today, as today is the first day that the new ad is valid and these offers are shown in the ad.
I logged in today, and I do not have the Chef Boyardee digital coupon or the Red Baron coupon. So, if you have previously used any of the MyMixx offers that are featured in today’s ad, do not expect a new set of them.
Today’s shopping trip was great!
- Four Super Chill Ice beverages. On sale for .79 each, I used the $1-off-4 MyMixx ecoupon. (It only took .79 off – more on this in a moment.)
- One V8 Carrot Mango juice. On sale for $2.50, I used the $1 MyMixx ecoupon and paid $1.50.
I also purchased some of this week’s best Jewel deals (full weekly writeup of those is here!) — Dole soups, Old Orchard juices, Fresh Express salads, and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee creamers.
As usual (can I ever go to Jewel and just get what I went in for?) I spotted some more deals too…
- International Delight 16oz. coffee creamers are $2 each through 2/24. I spotted $1-off-2 coupons in a dispenser on the refrigerator case door:
- My Jewel-Osco store also put more Febreze products on clearance: $1.14 Air Effects and $1.19 candles. I had cut the rest of my $2-off-2 Febreze coupons from the 1/25 PG and paid .14 for each spray and .19 for each candle.
- I also checked out the meat cases and brought home some Italian sausage, pork chops and lamb chops that had all been marked down to $1.49-$1.99/lb. Score!
