It’s always fun to apply Super-Couponing principles to non-grocery shopping, and on Saturday I put together a great multistacking deal… on Levi’s jeans!
Macy’s was having a great two-day sale in which clothing was an extra 50% off clearance prices. There was a coupon in the newspaper for $10 off a purchase of $25 or more, including clearance items.
To start the day off, we headed to Dominick’s to pick up a $50 Macy’s gift card. (Dominick’s is currently running a sale offering a $10 Catalina when you buy selected gift cards for $50. I love moneymaker gift card sales… and I gained another .10/gallon fuel reward for buying the card!)
After essentially paying $40 for $50 to spend at Macy’s, we hit the store in search of clearance clothes. Everyone in the family got some great bargains, but my favorite deal of the day?
Six pairs of Levi’s jeans for my oldest son… for under $10. (Total!)
Boys’ Levi’s were on clearance for $4.97 a pair, already a steal considering their regular price of $18.98.
With the extra 50% off kids’ clearance, the Levi’s jeans were ringing up at $2.48 per pair at the register!
Six pairs of jeans cost $14.88… and don’t forget the $10-off-$25 Macy’s coupon. After adding other clothing items to get just over the $25 mark, I used the $10 coupon and paid just over $15 for everything.
I love clothing deals! We did several transactions of great clearance clothing buys, but those jeans? Amazing!
The only time I’ve bought jeans for my boys at an even lower price than this was during Kmart’s $1.99 seasonal clearance last year that also lined up to a $10-off-$20 Kmart coupon deal. [Trip 1 | Trip 2]
And, while clearance shopping always involves a little bit of luck… you can always stack the deck in your favor by arming yourself with coupons!

I was there over the weekend using my purchased gift cards from Dominick’s as well as store printable coupons at Macy’s, JcPenneys, & Kohl’s (THANKS!) and I noticed a little table set up in the middle of the mall that said something like – get rewarded for shopping this weekend. So I walked up and asked what it was all about – they just looked at my receipts to get a total of $100 and I received a $15 mall gift card! Plus they were giving away a free 1 year subscription to Better Homes and Gardens magazine (no bill/no obligation). SO awesome! I took that $15 gift card and went to Payless since I had a 20% off coupon I received from Jewel and purchased two pairs of sandals for my boys and ended up only paying $.61 for them. Pretty much an exciting time! When all was said and done, our summer shopping is DONE and for a fraction of the cost – thank you so much!!

this is only a example of a deal that’s already over, right?
I do like the cash back on gift cards though, did the one recently for iTunes at CVS but had to take a rain check since it was very popular.
